Judith Boydston

Judith Boydston

Age - 79

October 28, 2023

"Our Mother, Judith Ann Boydston Judi was a loving, artistic, intelligent, talented, and accomplished woman who loved to learn and read. Judith Ann Boydston was born October 27, 1943 in Yuma, Arizona to Fred and Louise (Carter) Boydston. When Judi was about a year old they moved to the Imperial Valley in California. A few years later her little sister, Shirley June was born. Judi and Shirley shared a close bond as sisters do. They truly loved each other; never being harsh or angry with each other. Although they frequently lived hundreds of miles apart, they both always knew they could count on each other, if they were in need. When she was about 9 years old her family relocated to Fontana in southern California. Her father, like most in their neighborhood, was employed by the original Kaiser Steel Mill. Judi attended Fontana High School and graduated in 1961. Judi got her first library card when she was in 1st grade. During her lifetime she read thousands of books. Her home had many bookshelves and many books over the years. . . and then, the Kindle was invented. Most of the bookshelves and books slowly disappeared, but they were replaced with Kindles, and one Kindle was never enough! It was here in Fontana she fell in love with her next-door neighbor and childhood sweetheart, Ronnie. They were married for 17 years and had two daughters, Sandra and Cynthia. In 1981, Judi began a new adventure as a single mother. The company she worked for offered her a job transfer to Turlock. She embraced the opportunity, and moved with her youngest daughter, Cyndy to Turlock. She purchased her own house and lived there in her beautiful home for over 42 years. Over the years she worked for several companies over the years while she attended Cal-State Stanislaus. In 1991 Judi was hired by ACME Construction, as Treasurer and CFO, where she worked for 22 years, before she retired in 2013. Before moving to Turlock, Judi had renewed her faith in the LDS Church. She became an active member once again and embraced the Lord with all her heart. Judi devoted many hours at the Church Cannery, the Welfare Center and the Relief Society. She loved to help anywhere she was needed and served in many different church positions. Judi received great satisfaction from helping others, always hoping she was making a positive difference in their lives. Judi loved to crochet and knit; she created many scarves, hats and beautiful afghans. But, when the quilting craze hit America in the 1990's she developed a true love for quilting. She taught quilting classes after retirement and was so proud when she won a first place award at a local quilt show. Over the years Judi made many beautiful quilts, table runners and wall hangings. Judi was diagnosed with Lymphoma almost 8 years ago. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Judi was a stubborn fighter; she lived and died with great dignity. She passed away peacefully at home, with her loved ones near on Sunday October 22, 2023 at 10;45 pm. She made many special friends in Turlock, including Linda, Carol, Louise, Diane, Trudi and her trusted home teachers Kurt and Sally Baker. Their support, friendship and assistance in the last few years were invaluable and very much appreciated. Judi was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She offered her family unconditional love and support; always a dependable source of information and inspiration and the person Cyndy and I always called when we needed advice or a shoulder to cry on. She is survived by her only sister; Shirley, 2 daughters; Sandra and Cynthia, three grandchildren; Dan, Eric, and Krista and three great-grandchildren; Kyle, Tyler and Alex. Judi will be missed by all of us very much. However, at the peaceful end of a long life, it is not an occasion for mourning, but a time to celebrate a life well lived. "Show more
