Maria Julieta (Martins) Cabral, age 86, of Newtown, beloved wife of the late Jacinto R. Cabral, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born in Sao Miguel Acores Portugal on September 10, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joao Pereria Martins and Norbina (de Aguiar) Martins. Maria enjoyed cooking for others and was especially known for her sweetbread. She was also quite talented in the craft of crocheting, needlepoint and as a seamstress. Spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest enjoyment and being surrounded by her family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her devoted sons, John Cabral of Brookfield and Joseph Cabral and his wife Diana of Monroe, her cherished grandchildren, Jesse Cabral of Indiana, Michael Cabral of Newtown and Joseph Cabral, Alek Cabral and Andriana Cabral, all of Monroe, who lovingly referred to her as VoVo, a brother, Gilberto Martins and his wife Margarida of Bridgeport and a sister, Lidia Tavares and her husband Altino of Vallejo, CA, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10:30 a. m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd. , Bridgeport. Nancy Dunn Griffiths of Shelton, CT passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the age of 81. Born on August 10, 1942, in Bridgeport, CT. She was the daughter of Polish immigrants Benjamin and Josephine (Zima) Kielbus. Nancy was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School Fairfield and Sacred Heart University. Nancy was a long-time member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Nichols and a proud founding member of the choir. Nancy is survived by her daughters and their families Deborah and Michael Okolovitch of Stratford and Kathleen and Thomas Richmond of Colorado. Granddaughter's Michaela Richmond of Frisco, TX, Morgan Richmond of Kyle, TX, and Maeve Richmond of Colorado. A sister Kristine Varnum of Fairfield and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, Michael P. Dunn and Evan Griffiths, and her brother Benjamin Kielbus. Albert Louis Cologgi, age 65 of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side He was the beloved longtime companion of Lisa Toth. Born in Bridgeport on June 15, 1958, he was the son of the late Albert Louis and Marie (Mottola) Cologgi. Before his retirement Louis was an extremely talented fine finish carpenter and cabinet maker for many years. Louis was a kind, helpful, thoughtful and generous man who was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was one of those guys everyone wanted to be around, his infectious laugh and smile always managed to get those around him laughing. Wherever he was he always knew someone because he had longstanding friendships with so many people. One of his greatest passions was fishing, but outside of everything his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He loved his family, especially his granddaughters, and cherished all the time spent with them. They will never forget the fairy house he meticulously built for them in their yard. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In addition to Lisa, he also leaves a step daughter, Jessica Zervos and her husband Anthony, sisters, Colleen Mucci and her husband Barry and Jody Biebel and her husband Ken, two cherished granddaughters, Elliana and Seraphina, nieces, Maggie, Malorie and Natalie, a nephew, Spencer and two great nieces, Leora and Lilly. Elaine M. "Lane" Barbiero DellaRocco, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on February 11, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rosina Rotundo Barbiero. Born in Bridgeport, Lane raised her family in Trumbull. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, trips to the casino and watching football. She loved to cook for her family and she was a fearful scrabble opponent of her closest family and friends. But above all, her greatest roll in life was that of mother and Mimi. She was dedicated to the love and care of her family, always putting their needs before her own. She treasured when the family was together, especially her grandchildren, creating memories to last a lifetime. The unconditional love she gave and the values she taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her four loving children, Dawn DellaRocco and her husband Gaetano (Guy) DiGirolamo, Duke DellaRocco and his wife Sarah, Dana Salerno and her husband Anthony, and Christopher DellaRocco. She was the adored "Mimi" to seven cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Sara, Chayse, Ava, Lia, Michael and Ryan. She was predeceased by her partner, Gene Olbrys and six brothers and sisters. Charles William Mohyde, Sr. age 98, of Trumbull, CT, passed away November 20, 2023 in his home. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late John and Elena Mohyde. He was a proud, retired firefighter for the City of Bridgeport where he served for over 27 years. He belonged to B. A. R. F. (Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters) and the Bridgeport Firefighters Sick and Death Association. A dedicated family man and friend, he was an extremely generous individual. He was an avid golfer and dancer and whenever a band was playing he would be found on the dance floor. Charles will be fondly remembered for his rocking horses which he made for numerous friends and family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris (Reich) Mohyde. He is survived by his five devoted children, Charles "Bill" Mohyde Jr. and his wife Donna, Donald Mohyde and his wife Carol, Maureen Mohyde and her wife Liane Stevens, Patrice Mohyde and her husband Michael Scalzi and Pamela Mohyde; two loving brothers Fenton Mohyde, Thomas Mohyde and Christine "Tina" Vezzani and loving sister Jackelena "Jay" Beausoleil and her husband James; three cherished grandchildren Brian Mohyde and his wife Christine, Kirsten Hickey and her husband Jeremy and Craig Mohyde; six great grandchildren Merrill, Molly, Charlotte, Emory, Kayla and Alyssa and many nieces and nephews. Michael F. Basso, age 89, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Therese (Terri) Davey Basso, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport, on December 23, 1933, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Ann Mayernick Basso. A 1954 graduate of Warren Harding High School and a proud U. S. Army Veteran. He was a retired Senior Systems Analyst for IBM with over 40 years of committed service. Mike had 24 years of service as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the first Grand Knight of Council 12615 at St. Charles Parish. He was a Faithful Navigator at Assembly 107, District Deputy and an organizer of the Blue Mass along with the Diocese of Bridgeport. He was a dedicated parishioner and a member of the Parish council, financial committee & an usher. He was an avid Giants, Yankee, & UConn Basketball fan. He enjoyed organizing trips to Mohegan and Atlantic City with his family and friends. But above all, he was a dedicated husband, father and Papa, who always put the needs of his family first. He was described by many as the most thoughtful, kind and giving man. His smile lit up every room and he always had a "God Bless" for all. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his two loving children, Michael V. Basso of Bridgeport and Michele Basso Cennamo and her husband Jack of Trumbull, two cherished grandchildren, Jeff Cennamo and Nikki Taylor and her husband Joe, an adored great grandson, Grayson Taylor and a brother, Stephen Basso and his wife Diane. His memory will also be cherished by his extended family, the Delaney and Davey families, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Dolores Basso Cortello and husband Sam and his brother, Lawrence Basso and wife Joan. Irene A. Mercer (Renie), age 96, of Bridgeport, loving wife of the late Daniel S. Mercer, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 10, 2023. Born in Bridgeport, CT on February 19, 1927 to the late Robert F. Farrell, Sr. and Irene Kiely Farrell, Irene graduated from Harding High School and Butler Business School. She was a secretary to the manager of the Barnum Hotel for a number of years. Irene and her late husband, Daniel, also lived in Gold Beach, Oregon for ten years where Irene worked in the insurance industry. Irene, affectionately known as Aunt Renie, is survived by her loving sister, Mary L. Haight of Bridgeport, nieces and nephews, Bryan (Lewann) Haight; Maureen (Mario) Silveira; Thomas (Melody) Haight; Robert F. Farrell, III (Cindy); Timothy C. Farrell (Sue); and numerous additional nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews and great-great nieces/nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was predeceased by a brother, Robert F. Farrell, Jr. , two nephews, two great-nephews, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A particular mention to Aunt Renie's nephew, Bryan, who was always available to ensure Aunt Renie was cared for. Additionally, thanks to Angelica and Amari for their kind and caring support. Aunt Renie was a big (if not the biggest) fan of American singer, actor, television host and rodeo performer Roy Rogers.
