James Royce Birch, age 82, of Bogard, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Carroll House in Carrollton. James Royce was an only child, born to Richard and Laverna (Hart) Birch on March 14, 1940 in Carroll County. He was proud to have been a graduate of Bogard High School. On October 3, 1959, he married Janie Lee Wooden at the Bogard Methodist Church and they recently celebrated sixty-three wonderful years of memories. During his working career he had been a Tank Wagon Driver for MFA for a number of years, and had owned and operated Birch's 66 Service Station in Bogard, Missouri. James Royce's favorite job of all was being a bus driver for Bogard and Carrollton School Districts, and getting to know the students and watching them grow from childhood to adulthood. He was quite involved in the community by serving on the Bogard City Council, Ebenezer Cemetery Board of Directors, and was a Volunteer Fire Fighter; whose job was to drive the firetruck when called out to a fire. James Royce's passion was to ride motorcycles; it didn't matter where he was going, although he did like riding his bike to Canada. He didn't necessarily care what kind the motorcycle was but it had to be kept spotless and really shiny! James Royce enjoyed NASCAR and Sprint Car Racing, and was an avid KC Royals and KC Chiefs fan. He was no doubt a perfectionist when it came to his yard; he groomed it until it was meticulous and the envy of everyone! James Royce had a great wit and sense of humor and could make anyone laugh, and quite frankly, he never met a stranger because he could strike up a conversation with anyone. James Royce is survived by his beloved wife, Janie of the home; his sister-in-law Patricia Harper and husband Alfred of Carrollton, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Eugene Wooden and wife Peggy of Hale, Missouri; niece, Brenda Brock and husband Keith of Bogard, Missouri, who helped James Royce and Janie whenever they needed anything, several more nieces; and nephews; and numerous great-nieces; and great-nephews; and his mother-in-law, Marguerite Wooden of Bogard, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Laverna Birch; one sister-in-law, Ruth Harper; and his father-in-law, Harold Wooden.
