Marsha Ann Pogue McEldowney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Marsha was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 14, 1937, to Ann and Marshall Pogue. She attended Alamo Heights High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader and voted "Most Popular" by her peers. She then headed to Austin to attend the University of Texas where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and a Kappa Sig Sweetheart. She found her true sweetheart, however, when she met and fell for the love of her life at UT, Harry Rochester McEldowney. Marsha and Harry married on August 5, 1961. Their 59-year marriage was built upon a deep love and respect for one another. While raising her family, Marsha became deeply involved with her children's wide range of school, community, and sporting events. The years flew by, marked by trips to Port Aransas, tennis tournaments, volunteer work with the Junior League of San Antonio, and creating wonderful memories for her tight-knit family. Once her children were grown, Marsha turned her "energizer bunny" attention to the next phase of her life - becoming a licensed Real Estate Agent, and eventually a first-grade teacher at Fort Sam Houston Elementary School. In retirement, she was a beloved substitute teacher at St. Luke's Episcopal School, where the children knew her as "Mrs. Mac" and selected her as the "Guardian Angel of St. Luke's". While tiny in stature, Marsha was known for her huge heart, her endless energy, her positive attitude, and her deep love for her family and friends. She and her high school friends were known as the "Heavenly 11" - and remained close throughout their entire lives. She was simply beautiful both inside and out. She never met a stranger and loved her Lord with all of her heart. Marsha was preceded in death by her husband, Harry McEldowney, her parents Ann and Marshall Pogue, her brother Shep Pogue, her brother-in-law, Sandy McEldowney, her beloved grandmother Nanny, and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her loving children: Harrison McEldowney, Bonney McEldowney Mulloy (Craig), Harding McEldowney (Robin), Belle McEldowney Dear (Clinton), and beloved family member Maria Cerillo.
