On September 30, 2023, loving wife and mother, Margaret Szafran passed away into God's graces peacefully in her sleep. A warrior throughout life, she was 59 years old. Margaret is survived by many loving individuals, including her devoted husband Andrew and daughter Andrea. Beloved sister Alice, Barbara, Christine, Anna, Jerry, George, Theresa and the late John, Peter, Maria. Beloved aunt and great friend to so many. While we are mourning the loss of Margaret, others are rejoicing to meet her at the gates of Heaven, including her mother Karolina, Father Michal and Step-Father Lucjan. The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind. Asleep in the arms of Jesus, may you rest easy. Pallo, Rose'Anne Estelle "Rose" It is with love and sadness that we announce that Rose passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2023. Loving wife to John for over 37 years, devoted mother to Jennifer Pallo (Henry Araoz) and Trevor Pallo (Yuliyana Sawczak), proud grandmother to Arlene Rose Araoz, beloved daughter of Robert Banville, sister and sister-in-law to Richard (Anna) Banville, sister-in-law to William Pallo and Cameron Pallo. Rose will be dearly missed by her many relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her mother Rejeanne Banville. Rose lived her life with dedication and loyalty to her family. Hosting family functions and celebrations were very important to her. She was especially proud and devoted to her granddaughter Arlene. Spending time with family were moments she cherished most. Always wanting to please others. She was a dedicated employee at Eastside Marios for 27 years and just recently at Kelseys. Some of her favourite hobbies and past times include art and crafts, doing challenging puzzles, and spending a day out on the motorcycle. She had a passion for music and loved all her pets dearly. Loving husband of Sharon Elizabeth Clayton (nee Hill) and devoted father of Anthony and Graham. Kevin was a caring brother-in-law to Carol (John) Damaren and a special uncle to Laura (Nate), Conor, Sloane and Jamie. Kevin was an amazing Doggie Daddie to his "Little Angel" Teddie. He will be deeply missed by all his family in Alberta and Liverpool and by his many dear friends. Muriel Nightingale

Age - 91

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel Nightingale as a result of a tragic fall in her home. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Abel. Muriel is lovingly remembered by her daughter Ellen Nightingale Berry (Jim), her grandchildren, Andrew (Julia), and Amanda (Matt). She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Emily, Josephine, and Brady. Her brother, Graham, has been a dedicated friend and support and he will truly miss their many conversations. She leaves behind her niece (Laurie), nephew (Craig) and many cousins and friends. Muriel led a very busy and active life. During her long teaching career, she touched the lives of many students and colleagues. Her passion for music shone when she led numerous choirs and musical plays. After retirement, she and Abel split their time between their winter home in Port Charlotte and the cottage at Port Severn. Muriel was an avid artist, exploring her many talents with paint and brush. Her paintings hang on the walls of her many friends and family. Muriel also was devoted to many social groups. She loved being a member of her sorority for over 60 years. As a teenager Muriel was an enthusiastic member of her church choir in Toronto, and in her 70's and 80's was able to renew that passion for singing by joining the Burlington Seniors' Choir. Through her Arts & Letters and then Probus memberships, Muriel continued to actively expand her interest in creative writing. Her stories always brought insight and humour to her various audiences. In Muriel's last few years she was a member of Lowville United Church. She enjoyed the fellowship and particularly singing in their choir. She was always appreciative of the friends who ensured she had rides to and from the church activities. Reverend Hart has been a comfort to Muriel and the family. Her support is deeply appreciated. Our family would like to extend our appreciation to the many medical staff at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital who took care of her during her last few days. Their compassion was remarkable. Platt, Douglas Arthur It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Doug on December 9, 2023 in his 80th year. Loving husband to Kim (nee Critchley) for over 54 years, devoted father to Sonja (Luis Soares), cherished Grandy to Gavin, Ayden, and Ashley (Dan). Doug will be dearly missed by his extended family in England. He is predeceased by his parents Edward and Mary Platt. In his earlier years, he marshalled various racing tracks and enjoyed racing his mini and MGB. This love of driving carried over into his later years as Doug worked as a driving instructor for well over twenty-five years for both Young Drivers of Canada, and DriveWise both in Burlington. When out in the community, Doug would be recognized very often, and fondly by folks either having taught them, or their children how to drive. Tonegawa, Jeanette (nee Uyematsu) 1927-2023 It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of our dearest mom Jeanette who passed away at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the age of 96. Reunited with her loving husband, Barney Tonegawa, whom she was married to for 52 years before his passing in 2002. Cherished mother to Deborah (Scott) Cameron, Diana Goodale, Ginny (Doug) Ranch and the late Robert (Susan Trask) Tonegawa. Proud grandmother to Tara, Ryan, Danielle, Cody, Jesse, and Casey, and treasured great-grandmother to Evelyn. Forever in the hearts of her extended family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Shingo and Sayoko Uyematsu (nee Takahashi) as well as her siblings Roy Uyematsu and Reiko Kojima. Jeanette may be gone from this world; however, she lives on in the stories and memories she has left with all those she touched during her lifetime. Loving mother of Lisa and her husband Cameron Burechails of Thornbury. Cherished grandmother to Lauren and Kyle (Eilidh). Predeceased by her brother Basil and sister-in-law Dorothy of Burlington, and her parents Eleanor and Owen Williams of Montreal, Quebec. The family gives thanks to the wonderful care given by the staff and PSWs of Tansley Woods. They always helped to make sure Mom had her lipstick on and her hair done properly. It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of the pillar of our lives. Doug passed away at the age of 86 after a brief illness on Dec 7, 2023, in Grimsby. Fondly remembered by his loving wife of 63 years and travel companion, Barbara. Doug loved our five children and will be lovingly remembered by John (Jane), Sue, Glen (Monique), Cathy (Dave) and Bonnie (Francisco) and their families. A wonderful and admired Grandpa to twelve, and Great Grandpa of three. Time spent with them brought fond memories as he watched them grow into fabulous adults. He encouraged them to set a goal and keep working toward it. He was delighted to see all the happiness that came into their lives. They were so special to him and I know the love was returned by all. Doug also leaves behind his sister Karen (Rein Devries and family). Doug was so happy in his chosen profession of teaching. After years of studying while also raising a family and establishing a teaching career, he achieved his ultimate goal of becoming a Resource Teacher where he could focus on students that needed one on one attention. Outside of the classroom, his passion for learning never stopped. He spent hours researching our travel destinations, watching nature and history programs and over the years gathered an extensive collection of National Geographic magazines. More recently, he developed a passion for Oak Island. He took great pleasure in caring for his beautifully manicured gardens and yard, proudly be awarded the Trillium Gardening Awards a few times. Doug's children fondly recall how he combined his love of family, teaching, learning and travel into numerous road trips across the country where there would be endless geography, nature and history lessons, cleverly woven into fun-filled family camping adventures. Our travels around the world brought new interests and ideas into our lives and were a constant source of conversation. Doug's outgoing personality brought him into contact with so many people wherever he went, whether it was in the neighbourhood, in Florida or on our many memorable vacations. At our campground in Florida he was known as the "Mayor of D Section". His kind nature encouraged all to stop on our front porch and solve the problems of the world with him or listen as he told a wonderful story. Doug's creative side was always evident. He loved to take something old and make it usable again. His needlework are treasures to behold. He could have been an architect - he designed and we built a beautiful addition to our home. His mind never stopped dreaming and planning. As per Doug's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. The world lost its #1 Sports Fan (sorry Boston Bruins, Toronto Argos, and to all the golfers. . . ) as Bob passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Beloved husband to Patricia (nee Morgan) for over 25 years. Bob will be dearly missed by his children Ruth Matthews (John), and David Chisholm (Carly), and his grandchildren Cade and Jack Matthews, and Levi and Dax Chisholm. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his sister Nancy Lyness (Glenn), his niece Nikki Slinger (Keith) and their children Caleb and Conor. Bob is predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Doris Green, and his nephew Trevor Lyness. Born in Brampton, Robert/Bob/Bobby/Clem's love of sports began with cheering for the Boston Bruins. As an employee of Ford Motor Company for 35 years, Bob enjoyed playing many rounds of golf with the Ford Retirees. But most of all, Bob loved spending time with his family at their cottage in Sauble Beach, winters in Florida, and cheering on his grandsons. In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. Millie Fudge died Monday, December 4, 2023 peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, where she described her room as lovely and her carers as kind. She was dearly loved by her husband, Bern Fudge (who she married in 1954); her daughters and their husbands: Sandy Kelly (Mike), Shelley Thornton (Phil), and Judy Fudge (Ken Massicotte); her grandchildren and their partners: Shelagh Kelly, Meghan Gonsalves (Ian) and Sean Kelly (Jess Siple); and her great grandchildren: Parker, Lincoln, Lochlan, Finn, and Shay. Born on May 7, 1930, Millie enjoyed volunteering at the Burlington YMCA, where she taught aquafitness for over 25 years, and Strokers, where she helped in the swimming pool and with exercises. She loved to travel with Bern, paint, knit, and sew. Millie was fun loving, game for new adventures, brave, and kind. She was an inspiration to her family and friends.Show more
