Fran Richardson, 67, left this earth suddenly and with ease leaving her family brokenhearted, Thursday, June 16, 2022. She was the second of four sisters belonging to Ralph and Mareta Richardson, who predeceased her. Growing up she was deemed the "smart one" and lived up to her reputation. After graduating from Glenvar High School, she attended Emory and Henry, where she received a B. A. in communications. She held numerous jobs throughout her life with Green Market, Peat & Marwick, D & R Market, and later retired from Edward Jones. Although she had no children of her own, she was adored by her nieces and nephews and later by her great-nieces and great-nephews. Whether she was building Brio trains, playing "Mr. Wolfy," or Hay Day, she gave them her undivided attention. Fran is survived by her sisters, Ellen (Mark) Driscoll, Cathy Marino, and Sheryl (Hugh) Huff; as well as her nieces and nephews, the Pitt family (Laura, Will, Liam, and Ben), the Driscoll family (Sam, Anne, Wyatt, Ryan, and Nelle), Nick Crutchfield, and the Rafter family (Caitlin, Matt, and Cade); as well as a host of cousins. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p. m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Friends may visit with the family from 1 - 2 p. m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the funeral home. She will be inurned privately with her family.
