Margaret Marie Niewiemski, age 77, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Stonecrest Medical Center. Mrs. Niewiemski was the daughter of Owen and Gertrude Hewitt Bugman. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth G. Niewiemski; son, David Niewiemski and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Andrew Niewiemski and Kenneth Niewiemski, III; great grandson, Jaxon Niewiemski; siblings, Johhny, Mary Ann, Nancy, Kathy, Darlene, Colleen and Madonna. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Niewiemski, Jr. Her family will celebrate her in private. Mrs. Teresa Gay Cantrell, age 69, of Smyrna, TN gracefully departed this world Saturday, December 2, 2023 while enveloped in the warmth of her loving family. Originally from Dayton, OH, she was the beloved daughter of Clyde Harold Boggs and Melba Hazel Johnson Columbia, with Teresa holding an unwavering affection for her mother. Beyond her parents, she was preceded in death by her dearly cherished sister, Trudy Skipper, who held a special place in her heart. Teresa shared an extraordinary journey with her beloved husband, George Matthew Cantrell, which she married on April 23, 1982, at the Sam Davis Home's Tea Room. Together, they created a loving home, raising four remarkable children, Jason William Cantrell, Jesse Lee Cantrell Sykes, and twins, Joshua Adam Cantrell and Jodi Annette Cantrell-Hite. Teresa found immense joy in the role of grandmother, which she enjoyed with her cherished grandson, Matthew Hite. She was anticipating her newest grandson with Josh and Katie expecting in the spring.Show more

Mr. Eugene Lester Griffy, age 83, of Smyrna, TN, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. Born in Williamson Co. , Mr. Griffy was a son of the late Garrett Griffy and Louise Irene Gordon Griffy. Mr. Griffy was retired from Krispy Kreme as a retail sales representative. He also was a graduate of Forrest High School where he played football as a Forrest Rocket. He was a member of Florence Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffy was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Gordon Griffy and a sister, Mary Ophelia Reed. Survived by 2 sons, Robert "B0b" David Griffy and Darin Lester Griffy, both of Murfreesboro, TN; 2 brothers, David and Harry Griffy, both of Chapel Hill, TN; 2 grandchildren, Olivia Thomas and Caleb Griffy; 2 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hadleigh Thomas. In loving memory of Herbert Ray Skinner age 79, born on January 25, 1944, and peacefully departed on November 28, 2023. A dedicated veteran of the Army, he bravely served in Vietnam, embodying courage, and honor throughout his military journey. Herbert is survived by his beloved wife, Sondra, and leaves behind a legacy cherished by his four children: Dominic (Rachelle) Skinner, Antionette (Steve) Edge, Kathy (Fred) Spencer, and Robert Skinner. He is also remembered by his three stepchildren, Terry Williamson, Cathy Cook, and Scot Williamson, along with seven grandchildren: Jerry Edge, Ellen Van Brink (Whitney), Shane Edge (Ashley), Joshua Skinner, Militia Skinner, Ethan Spencer, and Emma Spencer. Preceded in death by his father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Shelton Skinner, and two brothers, Melvin Skinner, Emery (Judy) Skinner, and stepdaughter Carol Taylor. Herbert leaves a lasting impact on the hearts of those who knew him. His memory is carried on by six great-grandchildren: Blane, Allison, Kaelyn, Ainsley, Jordan, and Addalee. Herbert Ray Skinner was a man who found joy in family, had a passion for flying, and was known for his ever-present smile. His willingness to help others endeared him to many, and he passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved him. Helen Regina Burfield, 84, of Smyrna, TN, passed away on November 25, 2023. She was born in West Union, WVA, on April 25, 1939 to parents, Clarence and Lura Mae Martin. After marriage, Mrs. Burfield kept busy as a homemaker raising three boys and working as a helpmate to her husband. Through the years, she would find time for her favorite television shows and always had a garden of vegetables and flowers. She was a long-time member of the Tulip Grove Baptist Church. She loved well - she was well-loved - and she will be greatly missed. Mrs. Burfield is preceded in death by her father, Clarence henry martin; her mother, Lura Mae (Knight) Martin; her husband of forty-one years, Leonard E. Burfield, a son, Mark E. Burfield; and siblings Carl martin, Alma Brookover, Willadeen Ziemer, Earl Martin, Steve martin, Norma Cole, and Elmer Martin. Mrs. Burfield is survived by her son, Deane Burfield; son, Todd Burfield; grandson, Matthew Burfield; twin granddaughters, Gina Burfield and Jessica Burfield; great granddaughter, Brooklyn Jenkins; and sisters, Janet Norman (Garner), Karen Ice (Larry), and Eileen Gibson (Lou). There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Friday, December 1, from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earle and Agatha Shaft and his brother and sister Gary and Gloria Shaft. He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Mary; children, Michael (Kyira) Shaft, Jennifer (Michael) Eller, Thomas (Marcia) Childers, and Tammie (Tim) Armstrong; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Frederick was adventurous, and often enjoyed sailing and scuba diving. He will be remembered for his love of flying planes and photography.
