Anne Marie Gateau was born on July 30, 1931 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She grew up in "Cour de Turgeau" in the loving care of her family headed by Henri and Francoise Gateau. Years go by and Anne Marie left Haiti to reunite with her family in New York and it was the beginning of a new adventure: education, work and family.
Anne Marie was a woman of many talents; she had a passion for cooking and baking. Her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. Anne Marie was affectionately known as Timane. She loved gardening but more than anything she was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her children, sharing stories, playing games and watching her favorite TV shows. She was always there to offer guidance, support and encouragement no matter what challenges they faced. Anne Marie loved to travel and explore the world. She was a woman of faith who loved to attend mass regularly and religious retreats with her sisters whenever she could. Anne Marie was a kind and generous soul, always putting others needs before her own, her love and compassion extended to all who knew her. She will forever be in our hearts and memories.
Anne Marie is survived by her daughters Carline and Marie Francoise, her grandson David, her brother Jean, her sisters-in-law, her nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She will be immensely missed by all.
A visitation for Annemarie will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 224 39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Joachim & Anne R. C. Church, 218-27 Hollis Avenue, Queens Village, NY 11427. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. John Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, NY 11379.Show more
