Obituary of Margaret "Maggie" Briand Margaret "Maggie" Briand passed away on February 9, 2019 at the age of 72. Maggie loved her family - Arleen Burgess of Florida; Patricia (Tim) Hodges of Yonkers; and Sharleen (Karl) Johns of Smithtown. Maggie also adored and was very proud of her niece, Shannon Hodges. Although Maggie held many job titles over the years, the one closest to her heart was working as a Foster Grandparent for the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in Yonkers, NY. She was very dedicated and loved working with the nursery/pre-school toddlers who affectionately called her "Grandma". Maggie was an animal lover and especially fond of cats. She loved all people and being around family and friends at events and holidays. Maggie also enjoyed watching classic horror movies and Halloween was her favorite time of year. She also loved to play the slot machines and trips to Atlantic City. Maggie enjoyed listening and dancing to music from the 50's and 60's era. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maggie's memory may be made to the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), 87 South Broadway, Yonkers, NY 10701. 914-963-0640. A memorial gathering to celebrate Maggie's life will take place on Friday, February 15th from 5:00-8:00pm at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc.
