Margaret Boyle Obituary

Brookline - Margaret Ann (Peg) Boyle (McGrath), 99, passed away on May 6, 2023. Peg was born in Quincy, MA, on February 13, 1924, daughter of Thomas and Hannah McGrath. Both of her parents immigrated from Ireland; Peg was one of seven beloved siblings. She graduated from North Quincy High School and attended nursing school at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, MA. She earned a bachelor's degree from Catholic University in Washington, D. C. and a Master's degree from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. She became a professor of Nursing within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts higher education system and stayed lifelong friends with her colleagues in nursing education. She married and raised her family in Braintree, MA. She loved spending time in Chatham, MA and vacationing in Northeast Harbor, ME. Peg was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and she welcomed joining any discussion of politics. She loved attending McGrath family gatherings and her greatest joy was being with her four grandchildren. She is predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Patrick Boyle. She is survived by two daughters, Christine Watson and her husband A. Russell Watson, Elaine Boyle; and grandchildren, Kaleigh and Thomas Watson, Madeline and Tommy Devine. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 12, at 10:00 a. m. at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Brookline, followed by burial at Walnut Hills Cemetery, Brookline. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peg's memory to The Thomas A. McGrath Scholarship Fund at Fairfield University. Fairfield University Office of Development, 1073N.
