Saundra Rowland

Saundra Rowland

Age - 72

March 31, 2023

Saundra Lee Rowland, 72, of Osburn Idaho, passed away on March 27, 2023 at Shoshone Medical Center, with her daughter, Christy, right by her side. Saundra loved Jesus and longed for the day to be in His presence. We can only imagine the absolute joy and pure love she is now experiencing. Saundra was born April 24, 1950 in Seattle, WA. She was unselfishly given up for adoption by her birth mother and at just a couple days old, she was chosen by Delbert & Ellen Roberts, who took her home to Chehalis, WA. There, she became the only child and had a wonderful childhood. She was the apple of her dad's eye. Saundra just recently obtained her original sealed birth certificate and found her biological siblings. She was overjoyed and so looked forward to meeting them this year. She felt this was a beautiful gift of more family, which meant everything to her. She always longed for more brothers and sisters and obtained that in all her church family and co-workers. She would tell you she was "rich" in friends. Saundra married Terry Rowland in 1967, but later divorced in 1973 and moved from Morton, WA to Napavine, WA. She raised two children on her own and worked hard as a single mom. She made both ends meet as a school bus driver for the Napavine School District and worked her way through an AA degree from Centralia Community College. Later, she went to work for Bank Checks and decided she needed a career. So, she enrolled in International Air Academy in Portland, OR and went to work for Alaska Airlines upon graduation. That career took her to work in the Seattle Reservations office, Spokane Airport as a gate agent, and her last position in Boise, ID. She was a faithful employee for over 30 years. After retiring from Alaska Airlines 7 years ago, she moved from Boise to Coeur D'Alene and 4 years ago to Osburn to be closer to her family and a church family she loved so very much. Saundra was a member of Real Life Ministries Silver Valley in Pinehurst, Idaho. She loved Jesus more than anything and truly loved others as she experienced God's love. She was recently instrumental in starting the Grief Share & Divorce Care Ministries at her church. Saundra loved all things "travel". She has visited every continent except for Antarctica and Australia. Her goal was to fill a passport or two. Some of those trips included missions to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to some of the poorest places in the world. It was not unusual for her to decide on a whim to take a road trip and just see where she ended up. She would always claim she 'knew a short cut' which would really end in "getting lost" and taking twice as long. Her family teased her about it all the time, knowing she probably did it on purpose, to prolong the adventure. She was also an avid flower lover. You could find her outside most of the time making her porches and decks beautiful. She loved camping and being in the outdoors as much as she could. She is preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Delbert and Ellen Roberts; and her biological brother, Albert Brinegan. She is survived by her daughter, Christy Jacobs (Gene) of Pinehurst, ID; her son, JD Rowland (Trina) of Chehalis, WA; Recently discovered biological brothers, Mike Brinegan of San Diego, CA and Steve Brenigan of Lakebay, WA. She has 5 grandchildren, Brandon Rowland (Felicia), Elizabeth Hammer (Dallas), Courtney Pitts (Briana), Carly Ramirez (Mario), and Merenza Richards. She also has 3 great grandchildren, Oliver, Akasha, and Noelia. A celebration of her life will be on April 15, 2023, 11:00 am at Real Life Ministries Silver Valley, 708 S Division St, Pinehurst, ID. The family invites you to a reception immediately after. Donations in her honor may be made to the Silver Valley Snack Pak Program, where she loved to volunteer filling weekend snack bags for local children; PO Box 81, Pinehurst, ID 83850. Memories of Saundra and messages of condolence may be shared with her family online at www. shoshonefuneralservice. com. William "Bill" K. Lewis, 74, of Osburn, ID passed away on February 16, 2023. His friends and the community are deeply saddened by the unexpected loss. Bill was born on November 13, 1948 to Hartzel and Rosalie Lewis in California. Bill graduated high school in Grenada Hills, CA and then went on to enlist in the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. In 2007, Bill departed California on a road trip and unintentionally wound up in the Silver Valley of North Idaho. Smitten with the area and the people, he decided to put down roots and become a part of the community. He quickly became a beloved "local", but always carried the nickname, California Bill. Bill could often be found drinking a greyhound at the local bars where he would show off his dance moves, flirt with the ladies, and chat up friends. He had an unbeatable sense of humor, a penchant for shenanigans, and never took life too seriously. His antics were legendary and those who knew him have many stories. Bill also had a compassionate side. He developed lifelong friendships with many, and for some, he was even a cherished addition to their families. He was always happy to lend a listening ear to his friends and genuinely cared about their accomplishments and struggles. Bill passed away knowing that he was loved by many. Age - 91

March 4, 2023

Dale Benedict Lavigne, 91, of Osburn, ID beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on February 25, 2023 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Dale was born April 29, 1931 in Kellogg, Idaho to Emma (Sala) and Ben Lavigne. As a young man growing up in Kellogg, Dale was active in school sports and played in a band at many different bars and clubs throughout the Silver Valley. During high school and when home from college, he also worked at the Pik-Wik Market in Kellogg as a meat cutter. As a young man, Dale learned early in life about the value and importance of hard work. He also developed an entrepreneurial spirit. In college at the University of Montana in Missoula, Dale owned and ran his own concession business in the dorms. He sold pop, candy and chips to the other students. Dale graduated from the University of Montana in 1953 with a degree in pharmacy. He immediately went to work in Wallace at the Brooks Pharmacy. Dale started his first pharmacy, Osburn Drug, shortly thereafter. Eventually Dale owned and operated, with his brother Lew, five pharmacies in North Idaho and western Montana. Additionally, they owned the Morrow's department and clothing store and Tabor's. As the economy and buying habits changed, the brick and mortar stores were sold or closed and Dale devoted his efforts to developing a specialty clothing and printing business, Idaho Mining Apparel and Supply, currently located in Osburn, ID. Dale married Rosalyn (Rose) Pfeifer on September 12, 1953 in Kellogg, ID and together they raised seven strong, independent and talented children, who continue to follow in their parents' footsteps. Dale, along with his dad and older brother, Lew, had many adventures while hunting, fishing and camping throughout the Silver Valley and the St. Joe River areas. Dale and Rose along with their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family friends were able to enjoy many a summer on the family river property located on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River. Being at the river was one of Dale's greatest loves. It was a time to find peace and recharge his batteries for other projects in life. Dale's great loves in life were his family, his Catholic faith and his community. Dale was instrumental in helping to lead or worked on a number of community projects including, the Sierra Silver Mine Tour, Slippery Gulch Days and the Silver Mountain Gondola project. When the Bunker Hill Mine and Smelter Complex shut down in 1982, resulting in the loss of over 2,000 jobs, Dale was asked by then Governor John Evans to lead a group tasked with finding a buyer for the Bunker Hill property. Dale walked away from his many business ventures to help in the search because he recognized the importance of service to his community. Dale's son, Ron, stepped in to manage the family business while Dale was serving his community and state. Dale was a member of many clubs and organizations both locally and nationally that are far too numerous to mention. Additionally, he served on numerous committees at the local and state levels and received many awards for his business success and service. He was chairman of the Wallace School Board for a number of years. Dale was also Chairman of the Board of the First National Bank of North Idaho and served on numerous other corporate and charitable boards. He served on the Board of Trustees at Gonzaga University in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Dale was always willing to work with bringing people together to solve problems.
