"Jesus Iracheta Gonzalez aka ‘Sharky’ of San Benito was called home by the Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2024 at the age of 79. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Martha Iracheta Rios; children, Martha Mireya y Jesus Francisco Iracheta (Rosalinda); Jessica Martinez Iracheta (Jose), Sandra Laura, Nelda y Gregoria Iracheta Alvarado; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother and sister, Juanita and Enemorio Iracheta; numerous nieces and nephews. \u2028 Mr. Iracheta Gonzalez is preceded in death by his parents, Fransico Iracheta and Gregoria Gonzalez; brother Mario Iracheta Gonzalez, in-laws Fransico Rios and Maria Vidal Esquivel; and great-grandson, Baby Nikolas Josiah Alexander Reyna. Maria S. Rodriguez, aged 82, passed away peacefully at her home in San Benito, Texas, on February 13, 2024. Born on April 1, 1941 in San Benito, she was the daughter of Nicolas and Maria G. Saldivar. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas and Maria G. Saldivar, and her husband, Agapito G. Rodriguez. She is survived by her daughter, Ida R. Garcia (Arnold Garcia Sr.); her grandchildren, Clarissa Garcia, Arnold Garcia Jr., Adrienne Vargas, Andrea Juarez, and Julissa Garcia; her great-grandchildren, Cassandra Martinez, Catherine Robles, Candice Robles, Ricardo Robles Jr., Loralie Valencia, Francisco Vargas Jr., Agapito Vargas, Aubrielle Juarez, Benjamin Martinez, Brandon Martinez; and her great-great grandson, Xavier Martinez. Maria was a graduate of San Benito High School, Class of 1961. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Teaching in 1978 and her Master's degree in Counseling in 1988. She was a Counselor at the time of her retirement in 2015. Her 48 years of dedication as a Teacher and Counselor in the San Benito Consolidated School District left a lasting legacy, impacting the lives of countless students. Her wisdom and guidance will always be remembered and cherished. She was a counselor whose advice was as gentle as it was profound, guiding us through life's twists and turns with a steady hand. Her personality was a tapestry of compassion and resilience, woven with threads of grace and wisdom. Her nurturing spirit created a sanctuary of love for all who knew her. She was the embodiment of love, touching lives with her kindness and leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations. Maria, also known as Grandma Juani, was a remarkable woman who’s made an indelible mark on our hearts. We will carry the legacy of her love with us, forever cherishing the memories and the joy she brought into our lives. We are sad to announce the passing of Esmeralda M. Avila of San Benito, TX. She passed at the age of 61 on February 11, 2024. She was dearly beloved by all her family and friends. She was known for her love of life, children, grandchildren, and all her family. Never one to back down from any challenge. She retired from Texas A&M Extension Services after 23 years of dedicated service. She spent her final hours surrounded by her family until her last breath was taken. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruben & Aurelia Mancillas, sister Graciela Mancillas. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Petruska. Her siblings Guadalupe (Yolanda) Mancillas, Reyes (Martha) Mancillas, Virginia Mancillas. Her children Steven Avila Jr., Ruben Joshua Avila. Her Grandchildren Ruben Alfonso Avila, Heaven Amanda Martinez, and Grace Dixie Avila. Her beloved nieces and nephew. She will be missed by all that knew her. Dickens Sr., her mother, Katherina Polizo Dickens, her brother, James M. Dickens Jr., and her husband, Arthur C. Hushen. She is survived by her loving children: Art Hushen (Joelle), Arlene Printy (Ron), Lisa Lindner (Howard), and Thomas Hushen (Bobbie Jo). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Arthur James Hushen, Rachelle Hushen, Connor Hushen, Benjamin Lomas, Lionel Lomas, Kristen Lomas Gonzales (Eric), Amanda Lindner Huebert (Edward), Kelsie Hushen, Thomas Hushen, and Madison Hushen. Her great-grandchildren include Joshua, Gabriel, Jaden Atom, Cidney, Calyx, Eric Tyler, Tegan Faith, Tessa Grace, Tayleen Hope, Tinsley Love, Eddie, and Livie. Dorothy also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dorothy will be fondly remembered for her boundless hospitality, as she graciously welcomed not only her own children but also their friends and extended family into her home. Through the decades, her residence transitioned from 'mom's house' to 'grandma's home,' becoming a cherished gathering place where laughter, love, and shared memories filled every corner. She possessed a green thumb and a heart of gold, as evidenced by her ownership of Dorothy's Flower Shop in San Benito during the 1980s and 1990s. There she lovingly crafted countless floral arrangements and mums for the community. Dorothy was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love for her family. Her gentle spirit and unwavering kindness along with a touch of spiciness, touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire generations to come. We would like to extend our gratitude to her home health provider, Liliana Benavides, for her dedicated assistance and compassionate care. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Remi and Rene Garza for the comfort and joy they brought into her life, especially during her final days. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles Monard Kindley and Margeret Georgina Kirgan Kindley, as well as her husband, Charles “Chuck” Bothwell. She is survived by her three sons, Robert Bothwell, Michael (Sally) Bothwell and Timothy (Heather) Bothwell; her daughter, Patricia (Charles) Hervey; her granddaughters, Jennifer (Jordan) Beck, Heather (Mario) Danek, Michaen Bothwell, Lauren Elizabeth (Jake) Berry, Jane Claire Hervey (Manik Raj Nakra), Sarah Bothwell, JoAnn Hervey, and Natalie Bothwell; her grandsons, Ryan Bothwell, Marshall Bothwell and Michael Hervey; her great-grandchildren, Skylar Pokrass, Ella Denmon, Ashton Beck, Oliver Harlow Danek, Charlotte June Bothwell and Elizabeth Briggs Berry; her brother, Kirk Kindley; and a caring community of extended relatives and friends. She was looked up to for her artful resourcefulness, witty grace and inimitable style. Stunning in all respects, she diligently nurtured a beautiful life in South Texas alongside her husband, Chuck-a family legacy that will only continue to grow. As her family grieves her passing, they will hold Joanne’s wishes for Christian love, peace and kindness close. From the charming, wild tales of her childhood to her comforting lullabies, she will forever live on in their memories, their traditions and in the stories of generations to come.
