Marcell Bottoms Joyner, 63 went to be with her Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 6, 2023, after hearing one of her favorite hymns, "How Great Thou Art", played for her by her loving husband, Larry, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Pastor Bill Groce will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 – 7 p. m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Marcell is survived by her loving husband, Larry Joyner; daughter, Sara Eatmon; son, Matthew Eatmon; sister, Terry Cunha and husband, Tony; nieces, Julie Cunha and Curtis Jones, Stephanie Cunha and Kelton Westley, and Michelle Adkins; nephews, Joey Roberson, Daniel Cunha and Sara, Jonathan Cunha and Lee-Anne, Anthony Cunha and Evelyn, and Paul Adkins, and her step-brother, Jamey Crumpler and Michelle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Lucille Bottoms; sisters, Sue Bottoms, Bonnie Roberson, Kathy Bottoms, and Kaye Roberson; step-mother, Jean Bottoms; and her nephews, Alex Cunha and Shane Roberson. Carolyn Hughes Nagle, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 26. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1 at 3:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Williams will officiate. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 1 from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Carolyn was born in Elizabethton, TN on November 24th, 1934 to Samuel Eugene and Ida Pearl Hughes. From an early age, it was clear that God blessed Carolyn with a special musical gift—one which she used to share God’s love with others. She taught piano and played for worship services, weddings, funerals, and other life celebrations. Music was one of the great loves of her life. And it was through music, that she met the love of her life when she was just 16 years old. Working as a pianist for Brick Christian Church, she was asked to play an accompaniment for a young vocalist and theology student from Milligan College. She would go on to accompany him in life and music ministry for the next 55 years, serving multiple churches and leading music at the Mountain Christian Churches Convention. In retirement Carolyn continued to serve in church administration and music ministry for Winstead United Methodist and Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. Her legacy resides in her family. She loved her children fiercely, and she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren; they bore the marks of her love in the lipstick kisses she often left on their cheeks. She also enjoyed annual retreats to Emerald Isle, a good paperback, cooking for her family, good movies, a strong cup of coffee, and the Green Bay Packers. Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Rollie. She is survived by her children, Nancy Nagle Batchelor (Stephen) of Wilson; Roland Eugene "Gene" Nagle (Barbara) of Wilson; and Janet Nagle Barnes (Brent) of Winston-Salem. Sister-in-law, Susie Nagle Nagase (Maseru) of Wilson. She was also blessed with six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Charlotte Wallace

Charlotte McCloud Wallace passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on November 26 at Parkwood Village in Wilson, NC. Charlotte was born October 21, 1927 in Knoxville, TN to Evelyn Davis McCloud and LeRoy McCloud. She was very close to her paternal grandparents. From an early age, Charlotte loved to sing, which led her to the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music in Indianapolis. She also attended Butler University. While in Knoxville, she joined the choir at the Christian Church where she met James G Wallace (Jim), who was studying to become an ordained minister. Charlotte and Jim married in 1945 and together they dedicated their lives to the Christian Church, serving churches in Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina. They retired in Wilson, NC where they had served the First Christian Church for many years. Charlotte loved being a minister's wife! She served on the North Carolina Commission of Ministry, was a member of the choir, a Sunday School teacher, prayer group leader, and an elder. She is an Elder Emeritus in the First Christian Church. Family was paramount to Charlotte and she and Jim had 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Nana. Nana's kitchen table was a popular spot to share stories and connect with one's faith. Charlotte is survived by her children, Sarah Wallace Bunn (Turner) of Wilson, NC, Dr James Phil Wallace (Linda) of Dillon, SC, Jonathan David Wallace (Kathy) of Beaufort, SC, and Michael Gillespie Wallace (Kevin Neal) of Greensboro, NC and her grandchildren and great-children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev James G Wallace, and her daughters, Martha Lynn Wallace and Dr Becky Wallace Watson (Larry). Special appreciation is given to her longtime caretakers and friends, the late Gladys Morgan and Wilma Streeter. Marvin Barnes "Barry" Lucas of Wilson, NC passed away on November 23, 2023. Barry was born in Raleigh on September 19, 1948 and was the son of the late Rebekah and Osborne Lucas. He graduated from Needham Broughton High School and served in the North Carolina National Guard. He also attended East Carolina University and graduated from Campbell University with a degree in business. He mastered the art of sales and worked for Mitchell’s Distributing Company in Raleigh for over 30 years, before moving to Lambert’s Cable Splicing in Rocky Mount, where he retired in 2018. He was an avid beach music fan and enjoyed listening to his favorite bands all the time. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Lucas of Wilson, and daughter, Sarah Lucas McAlister and husband, Thomas, of Wendell.
