A Diamond takes billions of years to form, is the strongest stone on Earth and each diamond is unique and beautiful-all like our Mother It only took 90 years for Our Mother, Our Beautiful Diamond to form, instead of a billion She had the strength of a Diamond with beauty that enamored anyone who met her Our Mother, Manuela Munoz, was born on June 15, 1933 to Rafael Pastrana and Maria Guerrero in Hualahuises, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, an only child She went to heaven to be with our father on October 2, 2023 in San Antonio, TX Our Mother, Manuela, married our Father, Zeferino Munoz on September 25, 1961 They had 6 loving children: Elizabeth Flores (Mauro), Maricela Villarreal (Manuel), Serapio Guerrero, Patricia Munoz, Enrique Munoz, and Lynda DeSutter (Tyson) They have 10 loving grandchildren: Mauro Flores Jr (Letty), John David Flores, Christian James Flores, Manuel Marcos Villarreal, Jessica Quintanilla, Jasmine Celeste Huggins (Matthew), Philip Gutierrez Jr ,Sofia Claudette Munoz, Tyson Tristan DeSutter, and Parker Presley DeSutter They have 4 loving great grandchildren: Mateo Flores, Courtney Macias, Courtlyn Macias and Ezekiel Zeferino Huggins Our Mother came to the United States to pursue a better life for her and her family and settled in McAllen, Texas, where she lived since the 1960's Our Mother became a US Citizen in 1986 I recall teaching her the Pledge of Allegiance & helping her study for the Citizenship Exam She took such pride in being a US Citizen and was so proud to vote at every election Yes, every election! She was a devout Catholic, went to church every Sunday, and was a Member of the McAllen Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society in the 80's, 90's and early 2000's Every Sunday, during the 1980's, her delicious Menudo permeated our home as she cooked and provided for the less fortunate at the Sacred Heart Church Community Hall She was a Volunteer for the South Texas Striders Running Club during the 1980's, 1990's and early 2000's As our Father ran 5K's, 10K's, Half Marathons, and Marathons, our Mother volunteered at the Timekeeping station and Water stations Our Mother was a Chaperone/Band Booster with the McAllen Memorial High School Band from 1980-1983 (for Patricia) and 1986-1990 (for Lynda) As a Band Booster/Chaperone, she traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana and Carlsbad, New Mexico Our Mother was a volunteer with the McAllen Parks & Recreation Mexican Folklorico Dance Troupe in the 1980's and early 1990's While her daughter Lynda danced, she volunteered "behind the scenes" telephoning families of every dancer on upcoming performances, practices and events She devoted countless hours and was even gifted a telephone by the Dance Instructors, Mr & Mrs Canales! Our Mother spoke limited English, however, it didn't stop her from being an active member of the P T A with McAllen ISD from 1980 through 1990 She traveled to Dallas,TX in the early 1980's with the McAllen ISD School Board Our Mother was a Member of the Salvation Army Home League in the 1980's and 1990's She traveled to Atlanta, Georgia and Waxahachie, TX as a Chairperson Our Mother was an Animal lover as she rescued and adopted numerous cats and dogs-she even had rabbits and chickens! She loved Gardening and took great pride in her Gardens In the 2000's, our Mother enjoyed frequent trips to San Antonio - her favorites were Seaworld, riding the barge during Christmas and even rode a racecar! She was excellent in cooking authentic Mexican Food-her secret recipe for Chicken Mole was divine! At 83, she was STILL a yo-yo expert! Our Mother was extremely proud of her children's and grandchildren's accomplishments Most of all, our Mother loved being a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother She was devoted to her family, the community and made friends everywhere that she went She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed Visitations will be Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 Pm with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Rivera Funeral Home,1901 Pecan Blvd in McAllen Funeral and burial services will be Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen

Nacida el 5 de septiembre de 1947, en Tamaulipas, Mexico, Gloria vivio una vida vibrante marcada por el humor, la consideracion y un compromiso inquebrantable con sus seres queridos. La diversa y dinamica travesia de Gloria toco muchas vidas con su calidez, humor y amabilidad. Mujer independiente, abrazo la vida con elegancia, cautivando a amigos con risas contagiosas e historias fascinantes. El amor de Gloria por el glamour reflejaba su entusiasmo por la vida, una profunda creencia en vivir cada dia al maximo. Su legado de amor, risas y resiliencia fue capturado acertadamente por una cita de Octavio Paz, quien dijo: "El amor es un intento de penetrar en otro ser, pero solo se puede realizar si la entrega es mutua". Gloria se entrego al amor, irradiando positividad y alegria. En palabras de la icono mexicana Selena Quintanilla: "La meta no es vivir para siempre, sino crear algo que sea eterno".
