Homer B. Segura Jr

Aug 28, 1979 - Jan 24, 2024

location-icon

El Paso, TX

?Homer B. Segura Jr, 44, passed from this life on January 24, 2024 with his family by his side. He was a loving son, grandson, brother and uncle. Homer was born August 28, 1979 in El Paso, Texas to his parents Homer M. Segura and Yolanda B. Segura. He is survived by his Mother, Yolanda B. Segura , sister Gabriela Solis, brother- in-law Enrique Solis, and beloved nieces and nephew Kaitlyn P. Segura, Lailah R. Segura, Sophia I. Solis and Henry A. Solis. Homer is preceded in death by his father, Homer M. Segura, brother Alexander B. Segura, niece Brianna Barraza, and grandmother Paula V. Sanchez. He was also preceded in death by his beloved French bulldog Chapo, whom he so dearly referred to as “Cutie-Pie”. Homer graduated from the first graduating class of Silva Health Magnet High School in 1997. While in high school his love of music was shared with many as he provided his services as a disc jockey of a business he shared with his brother, Flip-Side Creation. Later in life he pursued his love of philosophy completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Texas at El Paso in 2005. In 2008, he obtained his Professional Driving Certification, so that he could once again join his brother on over the road adventures. His greatest business venture was developing the business plan, to help fulfill his parents’ dream of owning their own business. He searched and secured the perfect location, and once again used his creative talents to design the one of a kind logo, and even worked the register proudly of the family business Texas Star Beverages. Homer had a diverse interest in all things of this world, from music, writing, painting, investing in stocks, and online shopping. Homer particularly enjoyed the holidays; some might say more than most. One of his unique attributes included ensuring to buy and wrap all Christmas gifts for all the family in the middle of the year, all the while keeping everyone in suspense for months at a time His love of Thanksgiving led him to declare any random mid-summer day “Thanksgiving”, so that the whole family can gather and feast more than once a year, and they all so lovingly acquiesced. In his free time Homer enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his family or checking in by phone, frequently. Homer had an enormous heart and fun sense of humor. His love of family ran deep especially for his one and only Mom. He always he referred to everyone he loved as “Cutie Cutie!” with genuine love. He truly loved each and every one of his family members, and if you knew him, you knew it. As per his wishes, his body was purified via cremation and he wished to be placed alongside his loving grandmother. Funeral Services will be held at graveside on Wednesday March 6, 2024 at 2 pm at Restlawn Memorial Park. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. However, knowing him, his outlook on his passing would surely prompt the words of Will Dempsey… “Don't cry for me, I'm alright I'm better than you know And this life can be a short ride So don't waste it on sorrow And just hold on those moments And the memories we shared We're both headed for the same place anyway I just beat you there”
