Manjankarani Thirumurthi MD Obituary It is with heavy hearts that we announce Dr. Murthi age 83 passed on peacefully in his sleep on April 18, 2023 in Houston Texas surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 14, 1939 in Madras India. He attended Stanley Medical College and came to the United States at the age of 21 with $15 in his pocket. In 1967, he returned to India to marry Bala and went on to practice gastroenterology in Canada and the United States for over 40 years. He retired in 2011 from his service to America's veterans at the Temple VA Hospital. Dr. Murthi will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, charitable giving and selfless service to humanity. He was a devout Hindu and learned to play the tabla and enjoyed singing devotional songs. He is survived by his loving wife and children. His smile, sense of humor, intelligence and soft-hearted nature will be dearly missed by all. The close bond between him and our pet Ram-Ram will last for all eternity. The family requests that this be a joyful celebration to remember his long and fulfilling life and not a time for sadness. Let us all remember Dr. Murthi with happiness and not tears as his soul journeys toward moksha.
