George Nicholas Simirtzakis, 94, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, of Loganville, GA, passed away peacefully November 22, 2023 surrounded by his family. George was born October 7, 1929, in Weirton, WV, to Nicholas and Zambella Simirtzakis, who immigrated from Greece in 1924. The family moved to Washington, DC, where George graduated from Bell Vocational School in 1949. George served in the Army from 1949-1951 in the Korean War, returning to Washington, DC where he worked for Peoples Drug Store. That is where he met the love of his life, Ann Cox. He and Ann married September 10, 1954, and lived in Washington, DC, until they bought their first home in Suitland, Maryland. They were blessed with two children, Nicholas George and Gina Marie. George moved his family to Upper Marlboro, MD in 1972 when Ann's condition began to decline. George and Ann moved to George in late 1999. He was a devoted husband, caring for Ann through her battle with Multiple Sclerosis until her death July 22, 2000. George was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins and Washington Capitals. He enjoyed attending hockey games with his children. He loved model trains, building numerous train configurations and attending train shows with his daughter. He was very talented when it came to construction and worked on projects around the house. During his retirement, he attended activities at the Bethesda Church Senior Center and taught computer classes to other seniors. George was a proud veteran and active in the VFW. He enjoyed Rummikub, playing cornhole, gardening and bird watching. In 2004, he met his wife Shirley. Their beautiful companionship grew with their love of board games, traveling and their dog Bubba. They married in 2015 and she remained by his side. He loved all his grandchildren immensely and enjoyed spending time with them. George was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Zambella, his brother John, wife of 46 years Ann, and son Nick. George is survived by his wife Shirley, sister Kally, sisters-in-law Louise Ash and Katherine Cornwell (Rick), brother-in-law Rush Cox, daughter Gina Inscoe and son-in-law Rick, stepsons Rick Cates and David Tyler (Stacey), stepdaughter Janet Payne (JR), granddaughters Samantha Capell (Michael) and Julia Cornwall (Michael), grandson Nicholas Simirtzakis, great grandsons Brooks Capell and Jude Cornwall, and great granddaughter Elliot Capell.Show more

"Nancy Ann Adams, age 69, of Loganville, GA passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, C. D. Ethridge and Jewel Ethridge and sister, Sandra Stinson. She is survived by her husband, Cary Adams; daughter, Stephanie Stieber (Glenn); son, Clint Adams; grandchildren; Dalton, Mason, Christian, Catelyn and Caden Stieber; brothers, Danny Ethridge and Terry Ethridge. Nancy was a member of Restoration Church in Bethlehem, GA. She loved retired life and being able to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a huge Alabama "Roll Tide" football fan, and you could hear her cheering down the street for her beloved Crimson Tide. Nancy enjoyed sitting on the front porch with her husband. She was passionate about helping single moms and donating to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Nancy never met a stranger and those who knew her loved her. She was devoted in her faith to the Lord. Nancy enjoyed traveling especially to her two favorite places, the mountains or the beach. She will be missed by all her furry friends, especially her dog, Harry. A Memorial Service Honoring the Life of Nancy will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 3:00PM at Restoration Church in Bethlehem, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Nancy's name to be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or any charity that helps single mothers. Lascelles was the second born in a family of three siblings born to Birdie May Sterling. In 1957, Lascelles met the love of his life Bernice Neverzine Lewis and they later married on July 27, 1960 in Spanish Town, Jamaica. In 1982, Mr. McKenzie left Waterloo, Jamaica for Manhattan, New York. Once arriving in New York, Mr. McKenzie became a faithful member of Convent Avenue Baptist Church alongside his wife Bernice McKenzie where they would be members for 19 years. Lascelles began working as a maintenance specialist at Webb and Brooker in New York until his retirement in 2001. Mr. McKenzie and his wife Bernice left Manhattan in 2001 for Miami, Florida. They spent several years in Miami before relocating to Loganville, Georgia in 2006. In his leisure time, Mr. McKenzie enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, fixing things around the house, and making sorrel every Christmas. He was kind, generous and loving. He was affectionately known as "Pops" and "Mackie". He is preceded in death by his parents Birdie May Sterling and Herbert McKenzie, wife of 52 years Bernice McKenzie, and grandson Nigel Knight. Lascelles leaves to mourn his loss; children Oswald (Carol), Cecil, Dennis, Rosemarie (Roger), Denese; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and an abundance of family and friends. "Show more
