Mamie C. Robershaw BorrmannMamie Corinthia Robershaw, the firstborn child of William Pinkley Robershaw and Verna Etta Herring, started life on July 13, 1944, in Tyler, Texas. She was named for her maternal grandmother Mamie Ada Vickery Herring and spent her earliest years in the Tyler area until the family relocated to William's hometown of Anniston, Alabama. Mamie was smart and ambitious, and she loved helping people. In 1978, she enlisted in the Army as a nurse and was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas. Two years later she was stationed in Germany, working at the 128th Combat Support Hospital. Mamie loved to dance and one night while at an NCO club she met Erich Dieter Borrmann, a member of the German Airborne Brigade who worked in a combat support hospital in Calw, Black Forrest, Germany. On May 17, 1983, Mamie and Dieter married in Denmark. In 1990, the couple worked in Washington, D. C. --Dieter at the German Armed Forces Liaison Office for USA and Canada, and Mamie at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Her final assignment was at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. A woman of many talents, Mamie was a wonderful cook and she and Dieter loved entertaining guests. A Thai princess once visited them. Mamie and Dieter retired in 1995 and moved to Buchanan Lake Village (near Tow, Texas) the next year. They enjoyed living on the lake, but in 2001 the seashore called to them and they packed up and moved to North Padre Island. There, Mamie earned her real estate license and worked for Coastline Properties. Her assertiveness and friendliness ensured her success and in 2005 she was recognized for selling more than 1. 5 million dollars' worth of property. In January 2006, the Borrmann's returned to their old friends in the Texas Hill Country, this time settling in Kingsland where their list of friends continued to grow. This same year, Dieter officially became a dual citizen of both the United States and Germany. Mamie passed away on April 17, 2023. She was preceded in death by son Jimmy Lee Roberts, Jr. , grandson Michael Allen Vincent, and brother Jonathan D. Robershaw. Mamie was a generous, thoughtful, compassionate, and caring person from whom many of us sought guidance. If you knew her, you were truly blessed.
