Sharon A. Kennedy was born on April 13, 1967 in Chicago, IL to loving parents William and Donna Lahey. Sharon was the beloved wife of Jerome Kennedy; Loving mother to her precious children Megan, James, and Maeve; Cherished sister of William, Kristin, and Tricia; Caring sister-in-law, aunt, Godmother, and friend to many. Sharon left an undeniable mark on the world and those around her through her presence. Her hugs were infectious and brightened every life she touched. She loved to laugh and her outgoing personality ensured she made friends in every room she entered. She truly celebrated every day as a gift. Sharon made every person feel welcome. Whether you had known her for 30 years or just met her, she made you feel special and as if you could do anything in the world. To say Sharon lived life to the fullest up until the very end would be the biggest understatement in history. Her recent journeys alone took her to parties, concerts, college visits, marathons, NYC, Ireland, Hilton Head, and Paris. While she found energy in her big adventures, she also recognized the pristine beauty of time with those she loved on a simple walk or a night by the bonfire. Sharon had a wonderful, loving personality and her signature smile was contagious. She truly loved her family more than anything in the world. She will be dearly missed by so many and her light will shine eternally. On December 1st, 2023 Edin Gamboa,age 25, Passed away peacefully after battling against cancer for the past 8 months. He was born on August 19, 1998 being the first born child for both his mother Myriam Perez and his father Edin Gamboa. His passions and interests branched throughout many things, which unveiled his outgoing personality. Edin was a sports fan to teams such as The San Francisco 49ers, White Sox, Chivas, Real Madrid and of course the National Mexican Soccer team. Another interest that brought happiness to his life was music, especially Electronic dance music, one of his favorite djs being Illenium. Edin loved to attend music festivals with his girlfriend Mariana along with his friends & family. Throughout these hobbies he came across different groups of people who all describe him as a radiant person, and someone who influenced the lives of those who have had the privilege to meet him. The most significant factor that he instilled within his character was the importance of family. Being the oldest brother to Ahilynne, Christopher, Samira, Ulysses, Tamira, and Mateo, he was the perfect role model. Always reminding them to not only strive for excellence, but to ultimately be a good human; no matter how hard life gets. Edin spent a significant amount of his time not only creating beautiful memories with his siblings & parents, but with all his cousins, aunts, and uncles. Although it pains us that he is gone, Edin demonstrated his strength while battling cancer by always holding his head up high, having a magnetic smile, and laughing up until his last days. He leaves behind his parents Edin Gamboa & Myriam Perez, his step parents Pedro & Brandi, his siblings Ahilynne, Christopher, Samira, Ulysses, Tamira, Mateo, his god mother Veronica, and his Girlfriend Mariana; Along with the rest of his loving family & friends. Don Kareiva was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who was respected and loved by all who knew him. Throughout life, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family; adeptly taking advantage of the many opportunities that came his way in an entrepreneurial spirit. Also a veteran, he spent four years as an Army intelligence investigator based out of Milwaukee. Don was raised in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago, working in his father's butter and egg business, and later, in his father's tavern, Bill K's. He attended Marmion Military Academy high school, followed by DePaul University where he earned a BS in Economics. He met and married the love of his life, Carol and together they raised their son, Don, Jr. and daughter, Karen in Chicago's Canaryville neighborhood. He was an active member of St. Gabriel's parish where he was in charge of the CCD religious education program for many years. Don's amicable personality made him an outstanding salesman, but he also wore many other hats such as a hard working business owner of a truck servicing company, as well a restaurateur. After retirement, Don and Carol moved to Valparaiso and cemented himself as a community leader. He was elected to the board of the Lakes Area Conservancy District where he worked to ensure sustainable clean water for north Valparaiso. He also became the treasurer for The Salvation Army of Porter County where he was best known for planning the annual Easter breakfast and egg hunt for multiple years. Don is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Carol, his daughter Karen, grandson Mike Dunbar, great-grandson Jack, his brother Bill (Lil), nephew David Hermann, niece Sharon Kareiva, as well as great-nieces Nicole, Danielle and Amanda, great-great nieces Alice Rose and Riley, and loving cousin and friend to many. He is preceded in death by his son, Don, Jr. , his parents, sister Marilyn Zelasko, in-laws Rosemary and Charles Hermann, nephews Charles, Jr. , Kenneth, Daniel and Phillip. Don will be remembered with love and eternally missed by all who had the fortune to know him. Services at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. "Tomica Culafic, 93, known by many as "Tom" or "Tommy", passed away peacefully after a brief stay at LaGrange Hospital. Born in 1930 into a large extended farming family in Luge, Andrijevica municipality, in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, he was the fourth child of five. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years; Dragica, parents Krsto and Leposava (nee Mijovic), brothers Miladin and Milos, and sisters Danica and Milusa. As a young man he completed a 3-year military service stint as a Yugoslav navy sailor on the Adriatic Sea. After leaving navy service, he returned home to Luge, where he and Dragica met and married in 1954. Seeking a better future for themselves, they arrived in Chicago in 1966 with two young children to begin a new life in America. A 46-year resident of LaGrange, Tomica enjoyed a three-decade long retirement from General Motors where he worked as an assembler. During his long and active retirement he spent time volunteering at church events, dabbled in writing Serbian folk poetry and tending to the family's annual vegetable garden. He reveled in frequent back-yard gatherings of family and friends in the shade of his grapevine pergola. He and Dragica also traveled extensively; spending lengthy periods visiting friends and family in the U. S and in their native Serbia and Montenegro. He was a loving husband of the late Dragica, and dear father of Milorad "Mike" (Gordana) Culafic and Sonja (Jeff) Jones. Grandfather of Krsto, Aleksia and Stefania Culafic, Jennifer (Bill) Miller and Brian (Erin) Jones. Great-grandfather of Emmitt Miller. Brother-in-law to Kata (Veso) Timotijevic, Milusa (late Vukman) Vukanic and Sonja (late Petar) Vukanic, and above all a caring and respected stric, tetak, ujak, kum, and friend to many.
