Maggie Lamar Pennington, 75, of Coatesville, PA passed away suddenly on September 6, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Born in Coatesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gullie Bruce, Sr. and Ella Mae Bruce. She was the wife of William Park Bingham Pennington with whom she shared over 30 years of marriage. Maggie was a 1966 graduate of the S. Horace Scott Senior High School. She was a homemaker. She had 4 biological children, raised many other children, and was a foster mom to many more. Maggie liked to decorate for the holidays and collect Asian art. She enjoyed riding along in the car, cooking, crocheting, and solving crossword puzzles. She also loved to dance and listen to gospel music. Maggie was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Trinity. She was full of knowledge about the Lord, and she enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others so much that she created a "Keepinitreal Auntmaggieswords" Facebook page. She also loved to go thrift shopping and on vacation with her kids. She was a lover of animals and going to the Zoo was her favorite thing to do. Most of all she will be remembered as a sweet and kind person, who loved to take care of kids. Pennington of Norristown, Latanya Young (Frank) of Lemoore, California, Aquia Pennington, William Pennington, Jr. , Lakisha Pennington, Christopher Leland all of Coatesville, Mike Murray (Alyssa) of Lancaster; brothers, Charles Bruce, Aaron Bruce (Mildred); sisters, Teresa A, Washington-Walker (Fredrick), Ellanore Hurd all of Coatesville, Evelyn Skinner of Birmingham, Alabama; mother-in-law, Lenore Baxter Meeks of Coatesville; sister-in-law, Brenda Meeks of Coatesville and Iris Nicholson of Virginia; 35 grandchildren; God-daughters, Renee Tilghman, special friend, Tonya Jacks; God-nieces, Cajita Foy, Tanisha Jackson; God-sister, Cynthia Butler and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, and her former spouse, Terrence Baxter Meeks, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Bell, Samuel Bruce, Gullie Bruce, Bernard Bruce, John Bruce, Carvel Bruce; sisters, Sadie Mae Dixon, Gwenella Bruce, Carrie Motley, Lillian Brown, and Freddia Bradford. Life began for Jacqueline "Jackie" Tucker, wife of the late William Beverly Tucker, Sr. in Coatesville Pennsylvania on December 16, 1945. She was one of eight daughters of the late Dolly Mae Arnold Tooles and Wilbur (Sticks) Tooles. She entered into eternal rest at the Pottstown Hospital-Tower Health in Pottstown PA on Monday, November 20, 2023. After fighting a courageous battle against several medical conditions, God dispatched his angel of mercy and called Jackie home from labor to reward. Jackie was educated in the Coatesville Area School District, and years later, attended night school to receive her diploma. She was dedicated to working hard to care for herself and her family which is evident by the many years she worked as a young woman at Clifford's Home for developmentally challenged youth. She also worked many years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Coatesville, in the dietary department where she was dedicated to working hard to care for the veterans. She received numerous citations and awards for her commitment to providing for the dietary needs of the veterans until her retirement. Years later, she continued her commitment to caring for others by serving as a home health aide for several homebound seniors. Ultimately, she found her passion in working hard to care for others and in giving her time and resources to family and friends when needed. Jackie accepted the Lord and realized a calling on her life as a young woman. For many years, she was a faithful servant and member of the Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church in Coatesville, PA. There she served on the kitchen committee. For many years she was one of the main cooks for the Coatesville Soup Kitchen. More recently, she was a proud member of New Life and Christ Fellowship in Coatesville, PA. She loved hearing the word, listening to gospel music, and reading the bible. She got the most joy from cooking fabulous meals and desserts for her children and grandchildren. Her energetic kind and caring spirit will be missed but never forgotten! Jackie leaves to cherish her memories two children: William (Billye) Beverly Tucker Jr and Karen Tucker, both of Coatesville PA; two grandchildren, Taylor K. Tucker and Kaiden Holmes-Tucker. Also left to mourn her are four sisters, Kathryn Bailey (Arnold, deceased), Gwendolyn Tooles, and Deborah Tooles all of Coatesville, and Dr. Carla Tooles-Walls (Benjamin) of Beltsville, MD; cousin and friend, Brenda Johnson; special nephew, Phillip Johnson, who served as her confidant and advisor for many years; brother-in-law, Alfred Tucker of Coatesville; three close friends: Veronica Norris, Vivian McCray and Valeria Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her spouse, William Tucker, Sr. ; Sisters: Barbara Johnson, Joan Tooles-Brown, and Margaret Tooles; niece, Michelle Johnson; and nephews: Stephen and Cameron Tooles. Mary Tillman, 82, of Kennett Square, PA, a devoted nurse and faithful servant of God, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the age of 82. Born in West Chester, PA, Mary was the daughter of the late Helen (Davis) Johnson and James Anderson. She was the wife of Orville Wayne Tillman with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. She spent her life dedicated to caring for others as a nurse at Atlantic City Hospital from 1959 until her retirement. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Mary was a woman of deep faith, a God-fearing lady who lived her life in service to others. She had a passion for spreading the Word of God and often found comfort in prayer. Her unwavering faith was a beacon of hope and inspiration to those around her, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Throughout her long and distinguished career at Atlantic City Hospital, Mary was known for her compassion, professionalism, and dedication. She was a beloved member of the nursing staff and a mentor to many of her colleagues. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sophia Ann Tillman Ortiz. James Edward Myers, of Coatesville, PA, passed away early Sunday morning, November 19, 2023. He was 81 years old. Tick, as he was affectionately known, was one of seven children born to the late Jenny (Brown) Myers and Wiliam Myers, Sr. Tick worked at the former Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville for many years. He enjoyed watching sports. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed listening to oldies music and socializing with friends and his grandchildren. He could tell a joke or two and had an upbeat personality. He occasionally would stir up trouble or agitate you just to keep things going, but meant no harm. And he could cook some stuffed chicken wings. Tick leaves treasured memories to his son Matthew "Matt" F. Charles William Hardy, 66, of Coatesville, PA passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Paoli Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of Mary Jane Laura Hardy and the late Murril Hardy. Charles was the beloved husband of Patricia Brown-Hardy. Charles was a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an accomplished bass guitar player, and his music brought joy to all those around him. He was also a big Dallas Cowboys fan, and he loved to joke around with his family and friends. Aside from music and football, Charles also had a passion for cooking and writing poems. He loved his wife dearly and enjoyed spending time with her. Charles was a man of faith and a member of Forward Impact Life Ministries. He loved the Lord and cherished his family, and his love for them was immeasurable. Tommy, as he was affectionately known, was born in West Chester, PA, the son of the late William Penrose Flowers Sr. , and Madeline Marie (Mullen) Flowers. He worked at the former Lukens Steel until he was disabled. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and listening to country western music. He loved his coffee and enjoyed discussing politics and watching MSNBC. He had a knack for knowing everyone's birthday. Tommy leaves lasting memories to four sisters, Madeline Stokes of Fayetteville, NC, Grace Elizabeth Delaware of Coatesville, PA, Carol Ann Westmoreland of Coatesville, PA, and Dorothy Kelly of West Chester, PA; one brother, Harry Flowers, Sr. (Audrey) of Coatesville, PA; nieces and nephews, especially niece Dina and nephew Clayton whom he helped raise, as well as Tyrone M. Holmes who was very special to Tommy. He also had a special place in his heart for Dina's children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William P. Flowers, Jr. , and Robert B. Kena Keeann Antoinette (Jackson) Morton, of Coatesville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2023. She was 46 years old. Born in Coatesville in 1977, she was the daughter of Marsha Ann (Barber) London, and the late William Thomas Jackson. She was the wife of Albert Morton IV with whom she shared 21 years of marriage. After graduating from Lan-Chester Christian School, Kena attended Eastern College in Saint David's, PA, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Kena was a homemaker, a job from which she never took a day off. She strove to ensure her family was taken care of, and they were. She was a former Childcare Director and teacher at the Coatesville Daycare. She also formerly taught Kindergarten at Lan-Chester Christian School. Kena was a faithful believer and follower of Jesus. The Bible was the guidebook to her life. Through the Word, she left a firm biblical foundation in the hearts of her children. She valued order and decency in all things. She credited her grandparents, Anthony and Arzelia Barber, with instilling these ideals within her, by example. Kena enjoyed taking family trips to the beach and decorating for the holidays. She had an eye for home decor and the work of her hands was always neat and meticulous. She was always happy when caring for her family. She was motivated by love. She loved to listen to music, especially the sounds of 70's R&B, and gospel music. Mother Flora T. Mobley Green was born March 13, 1928, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of three children born to the late Walter and Ella Mae Jennings Mobley. She was affectionately called "Aunt Sis" by her family and friends. Aunt Sis grew up in a loving family and received her early education in the Coatesville Area Schools. In her early days, she was employed by Marionette Mills as a sewing machine operator. Aunt Sis married John I. Green, Jr. on November 23, 1950. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served during World War II. Together they shared 43 years of marriage until he passed away on April 16, 1993. Aunt Sis was a long-time faithful member of First Calvary Church of God in Christ. There she served in various auxiliaries and areas of leadership including the Mothers Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Sexton, Senior Choir, Combined Choir, the Usher Board, and Kitchen Committee. Over the years, she found joy in organizing and preparing the annual Easter and Christmas programs. Aunt Sis was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and solving word search puzzles. She had a contagious sense of humor and a competitive spirit. She was young at heart and enjoyed spending time with her great nieces and nephews, who kept her laughing. Aunt Sis looked forward to Sunday dinners with her family, Monday night family prayer, and Tuesday night Bible study. Aunt Sis loved to help people. It brought her great joy to assist others who were in need. She loved the Lord and loved to sing His praises. "Are You Ready" was one of the songs she would sing. Her favorite scripture was, "In everything, give thanks. . . " 1 Thessalonians 5:18. After a brief illness, Aunt Sis was called from labor to reward on November 2, 2023. She was 95 years young.
