Magdalen (Maggie) Friesenhahn, age 84, of Falls City, TX passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, in Live Oak, TX. Maggie was born December 8, 1938, in San Antonio. She was born to her parents Louis and Mary Jarzombek of Falls City and was proceeded in death by her sister Eleanor Jarzombek. She graduated from Falls City High School and after graduation worked for Alamo National Bank for several years. She spent much of her work life in service to the Lord and the children and faculty of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Selma, TX. August Friesenhahn Jr. of Selma, TX and Maggie met at the Hermann Sons Hall in San Antonio. On September 7, 1963, she married August in a beautiful ceremony at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa, TX. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, August and was a caring parent to 3 children, Roman (Kristin) Friesenhahn of Schertz, Debbie Wehman of Schertz and Ronnie Friesenhahn (Suzanne) of Falls City. She is also survived by grandchildren, Justin (Corie) Wehman of Schertz, Matthew (Meghan) Wehman of Schertz and great grandchildren, Clara and Beth Wehman of Schertz. She also has step grandchildren Victoria (Nowlin) Rees of Falls City, Trevor Moczygemba of Yorktown, and Alison Klein (Chance Leal) of Floresville. She is also survived by step great grandchildren, Dryden and Calvin Rees, Blaze Moczygemba and Oliver Klein. She was loved and adored by many nieces and nephews as well from the Friesenhahn side of the family. Maggie was a devote Catholic and was a life-time member of St. Ann’s Christian Mother’s Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and spent many hours in devotion with our Lord. Her hobbies included canning and cooking, gardening, baking, sewing, waltz dancing and spending time with the entire family at the farm in Falls City. Perhaps most importantly to remember about Maggie was that she was a caring and loving lady, the backbone of the Friesenhahn family and a woman of strong faith and a wonderful friend to many. Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home at 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 14th followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma on Friday, September 15th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Falls City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Ann’s Christian Mother’s Society at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma in Maggie’s memory.

Constance Marie "Connie" Lyssy, 81 of Falls City, Tx passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Floresville, Tx. Connie was born September 21, 1941 in Gillett, Tx to Arnold Sturm Sr. and Mary Kapitza Sturm. Sam Lyssy, Sr and Connie were married on April 29, 1961. They were able to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary just 3 days prior to her passing. Sam and Connie were blessed with 5 children and 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Connie was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Choir, the Holy Trinity Altar Society and the Catholic Daughter's of America. Connie enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and baking for everyone. She also loved sewing for her kids while watching her soap operas. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1982, when she began working at the Falls City School Cafeteria where she worked for 16 years. Connie, along with Sam, were avid Beavers fans and could be seen at every Falls City sporting event. Her pride for her children and grandchildren was evident as they attended every event her children and grandchildren participated in. Connie and Sam loved to dance often and when they could no longer go out dancing, they spent many evenings watching country music performances on TV. Together, Connie and Sam spent many years serving their community and church congregation. Connie's faith was strong, and she shared that with her family. Even in her final days, as we prayed with her and played hymns for her, we could see her praying and singing along with us. She was the perfect example of a Godly women. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold Sr and Mary Sturm, her brothers Leonard Sturm and wife Kathy, George Sturm and wife Lucy, and Timmy Sturm, her sister-in-law Joy Sturm, nieces Margaret Sturm and Mary Lea Sturm Kyrish, and her grandson Ryan Kelley. Connie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Sam Lyssy Sr. , her son Sam (Kim) Lyssy Jr, her son Mike Lyssy, her daughter Lynette Lyssy, her daughter Carol (Danny) Kelley, and her daughter Angie (Darel) Moczygemba, her grandchildren, Alexander Lyssy, Alyson (Conner) Henry, Zachary Lyssy, Michael Lyssy, Joseph Lyssy, Phillip Lyssy, Lauren Kelley, Morgan Kelley, Kendall Kelley, Brittany Kelley, Kelsey Moczygemba and Brandon Moczygemba, and great-grandchildren Leland Lyssy, and twins Wyatt and Walker Henry. She is also survived by her brother Arnold (Connie) Sturm Jr. , sister "Sister" Marian Sturm, sister Imelda Louise (Joe) Reeh, brother Fabian "Red" (Lauren) Sturm, brother Joe (Kathy) Sturm, brother Danny (Lynette) Sturm, brother David Sturm, sister-in-law Elsie Sturm and numerous nieces and nephews. The family of Connie Lyssy would like to express sincere gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff of New Haven Memory Care of Floresville, Tx and all of the community and family members who visited her and supported her family during this difficult time. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 8:30am, with rosary at 10am in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, Texas. The funeral mass will follow at 10:30 am also in the church. Richard Alan Beicker of Falls City, Texas was born on April 27, 1934 in Falls City, Texas to Theo Beicker and Carrie Pope Beicker went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2021 at the age of 87. Mr. Beicker retired from Conoco in May of 1985 as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He loved ranching and will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Nancy Blaise Beicker who he married on July 5, 1954 in Kenedy, Texas and passed on May 31,2013 and was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in -law: Lera Jean and Leland Culpepper; his brother-in-law: Louis Retzloff and sister-in-law: Ernestine Beicker. He is survived by his daughters: Barbara J. Beicker of Falls City, TX and Sharon A. (Bill) Lynn of Kerrville, TX; grandchildren: Candice Barnes of Manor, TX and Christopher (Amy) Poth of Fort Bragg, Clifford Barnes IV, and Nancy Jean Barnes; sisters: Doris Retzloff of Karnes City, TX; brothers: Fred Beicker of Refugio,TX and Ted Beicker of Penrose, CO; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives. Mary "Catherine" (Gawlik) Kotara went home to be with our Lord Friday afternoon, June 19, 2020 at the age of 85.Catherine was born December 29, 1934 in Falls City, Texas, the daughter of Felix Gawlik and Monika (Moczygemba) Gawlik. Over the years she worked several jobs to help the family but retired as a seamstress from Levi Strauss. Catherine married Adrian Paul Kotara on January 15, 1951, at Holy Trinity Church in Falls City, Texas. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage prior to the death of Adrian, her only true love in life.Catherine's greatest love was her family. She treasured her children and embraced every moment spent with them. She especially loved her role as grandmother and great grandmother. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She could make a stranger her new best friend. A farm girl at heart, gardening was one of her biggest passions. She was highly involved in the day to day running of the family ranch. Catherine was devoted to her Catholic faith and it was a tremendous comfort to her throughout her life . She was a longtime member of the Blessed Sacrament Church, the Catholic Daughters and Altar Society in Poth.Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian; parents, Felix and Monika Gawlik; her sons, Charles Edward Kotara and John Paul Kotara; and her siblings, Lucian Gawlik, Alice Kroll, George Gawlik and Robert Gawlik. Catherine is survived by her daughter, Janice Nikel (Don) of City by the Sea; her grandchildren, Chad Nikel (Gayle), Christy Tupaj (Dave), Derek Kotara (Carrie), Nicole Kotara (Kevin Diede), John Kotara (Natalie), Robert Kotara, Wayne Prewitt (Kristin), and Michael Prewitt (Melissa); her 13 great grandchildren, David and Troy Tupaj, Abigail and Jade Nikel, Skyler and Chloe Kotara, Kolton Kotara, Nathaniel, Samantha and Jonathan Prewitt and Tristin, James and Alex Prewitt; her sister, Patricia Minus; sisters-in-law, Joan Gawlik and JoAnn Gawlik; brothers-in-law, Benamin Kotara and Fred Minus; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation began at 9:30 A.M. Friday, followed by the recitation of the rosary at 10:30 A.M. Friday, and celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 26, 2020, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by Father Damian Jaje. Interment followed at Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth, Texas. Louis M. Swierc, age 60, of Falls City, Texas, passed away May 11, 2020 in Floresville, Texas. He was born December 25, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas to Vida Moore Swierc and the late Leonard Ehlinger. Louis was a graduate of Falls City High School, and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. He loved fishing and supporting the Beaver and Dallas Cowboy football teams. He is survived by his sisters Karen Swierc of Falls City, Kathy Moore and her husband Roger of Converse, TX, Mary Pawelek and her husband Ron of New Braunfels, TX, Vi Swierc of Falls City, and Ruth Ann Eaton of San Antonio; brothers Philip J. Swierc Jr. of San Antonio, Carl Swierc and his wife Sherry of Houston, TX, Gene Swierc and his wife Blanche of Falls City, and Jon Swierc and his wife Vivian of Hobson, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Louis is preceded in death by his parents; step-father Philip J. Swierc Sr. and brother in law Joe Eaton. Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City with a rosary at 7 PM. The funeral mass will be a private family mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. Interment will be in the Falls City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jon Swierc Jr., Joseph Swierc, Jacob Swierc, Clay Swierc, Brandon Pawelek and Trey Malone.
