Madge Elizabeth Keefer, 91, of Westminster, MD passed away peacefully at Diven House at Carroll Lutheran Village, in Westminster on October 6, 2023 Born on March 6, 1932 in Woodbine, MD, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Robert Fowble and Mary Elizabeth (Fleming) Fowble She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Dale Keefer of 69 years Madge graduated from Sykesville High School in 1949 She became a bookkeeper for Chipley and Sons who was bought out by A G Parrott Equipment Company When she married Dale in 1951, she became a housewife Later she worked for the Carroll County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker at Sykesville School which at that time consisted of elementary, middle and high school levels Her daughter remembers the students recognizing her as the "ice cream lady " She did return to bookkeeping and worked at Sykesville Federal in downtown Sykesville She stayed with them when they moved to Eldersburg, which is currently Farmers & Merchants, until her retirement She enjoyed, along with Dale, watching and taking bus trips to Memorial Stadium to see the Orioles Madge had been a member of the Freedom District Lions Club which she joined along with her daughter in January 1999 She received the recognition of a Melvin Jones Fellow which is the highest honor a Lion can receive While in Lions, Madge and Dale travelled to Hawaii, Colorado, other states and Canada to participate in the International Conventions as well as to see a Lion from the Multiple District become International President After moving to Carroll Lutheran Village, Madge became a member of the Taneytown Lions Club Because of not being able to continue her Lions' activities, she resigned from the club Both Madge and Dale truly believed in the Lions motto "We Serve " She was a long-time member of Gaither United Methodist Church in Gaither Even after the move to Carroll Lutheran Village, Madge and Dale attended the services at Gaither until they couldn't make those trips on Sunday She was a much-loved wife, mother and grandmother Madge was known for being caring towards others and she loved spending time with her family and friends She will be dearly missed by all who knew her Surviving her are daughter, Pauline Rosier and husband Charles, grandchildren, Kimberly Rosier and Robert Rosier and wife Megan Funeral services will be at the Jeffrey N Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD Viewing will be on Tuesday, October 10 from 5 pm to 8 pm The funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 11 at 11 am Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Lions Vision Research Foundation (LVRF), P O Box 1714, Baltimore, MD, 21203, Bridging Life, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD, 21157, or a charity of your choice Online condolences may be made at www jnzumbrunfuneralhome com

Clara Mary Peschau, 102, of Sykesville, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the home of her daughter with her family by her side. Born March 16, 1921 in Baltimore she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Smith Bonsall. She was the loving and devoted wife of Elmer Franklin Peschau who died September 29, 1998. Clara was retired from the Social Security Administration. During her younger years Clara was an excellent skater and gymnast. Walking was always a pastime and the beach a best friend. Her gardening skills were amazing. Any flower, be it indoor or outdoor would flourish from her care. Reading was her ultimate passion. She traveled the world in all the books she has read in her lifetime. She was still reading a stack of books each week, even during hospice care. Her favorite pastime was devoting her love to her friends, family, and especially her seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She loved going on vacations with her family. Clara's biggest legacy was the emotional support she gave to many, many, people along the way. She was always kind, steady, compassionate & a woman of few material wants. She was patriotic and loved her country dearly. She enjoyed sitting in the sun on her deck. To know her was to love her! She is survived by son Lee Peschau and wife Melanie, daughter Renee Freedman and husband, Daniel, grandchildren Thomas Freedman and wife Taryn, Steve Freedman, Timothy Freedman and wife Christi, Jason Peschau and partner David Gerber, Jon Peschau and wife Kellie Peschau, Jillian Johnston and husband CJ Johnston and Sean Wotring, great grandchildren Addison Freedman, Claire Freedman, Gunner Freedman, Max Freedman, Grant Freedman, Berkley Freedman, Chloe Freedman, Luna Freedman, Drake Peschau, Autumn Peschau and Kaylee Tomlin She was preceded in death by sister Sara Begly. Arthur "Otts" Gordon Sachs, 86 of Sykesville, MD passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at BridgingLife Dove House in Westminster, MD. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Sachs (nee Feurer) for 66 years. Otts (Arthur) was born August 8, 1937, in Westport, Baltimore City, MD, the son of the late Andrew Sachs. He was employed for 39 years at Baltimore Gas and Electric. For the first 10 of those years, he was a gas pipe fitter, and then moved on to become an Industrial and Commercial Representative. He received a certificate in Industrial Supervision and Management in 1969, and a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972, both from Johns Hopkins University, the result of rigorously and torturously pressing on through 8 years of evening college, while simultaneously working full-time during the day. Otts enjoyed spending time with his wife Shirley and son David, doing things with friends and relatives, his employment at BGE, deer hunting, fishing, eating, camping, swimming, golfing, bowling, horseshoes, bocce, cards, and pro football (in the mid '50s, at 18 years of age he played in a neighborhood football league titled "Unlimited. " Unlimited meant no age requirement or limit and consisted of playing tackle football on a concrete or asphalt parking lot with 30 year old men wearing no pads or helmet). He also enjoyed World War II history, listening to John Phillip Sousa, and growing, eating, and giving away vegetables and herbs that he and Shirley grew in their large vegetable garden beginning in the 1960s and continuously grew every year until ending circa 2019-2020. He had a great sense of humor, was a fun, personable, very upbeat, considerate, compassionate, intelligent, understanding, positive man and human being; disliked REAL racism, treated people with respect, was always concerned for the wellbeing of others, and rooted for, took up for, and spoke up for the underdog. He could also be frightfully serious; but was always reasonable, honorable, just and true. Surviving in addition to his wife, are son, David Sachs, brother, Nelson Moeller, and brother, Leonard Sachs. The services at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Louis Jason, Jr. for 39 years. She was born September 4, 1938, in Porters Sidling, PA, the daughter of the late Delphus Garvick and the late Ethel Garvick (nee Ingram). She was a graduate of Spring Grove High School class of 1956. Barbara worked as a catalog department manager for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Hanover, PA and Security Square, MD, a Legal Administrator for Whiteford, Taylor & Preston and Gebhart Smith in Baltimore, MD, and as an office manager for R. Mark Horner, DDS in Reisterstown, MD. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, interior design and supporting the musical arts in Carroll County. Survived by her loving daughters Brandi Jason of Sykesville and Lori Edmonds and husband Willie of Reisterstown; stepdaughter Gretchen Stanton and husband Barry of Upper Marlboro; grandchildren Adrienne Reynolds and husband Michael, Taren Butcher and husband Sidney, and Matthew Strickler; great-granddaughters Kayli Filipowicz, Avery and Addison Butcher, and a host of other relatives and friends. Eliot "Bill" Annable, 99 of Sykesville, MD passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. He was born October 13, 1924, in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late Charles W. Annable and the late Elizabeth Annable (Andrews). Bill was a WWII veteran of the United States Army 106 Infantry Division the Lions Brigade. After serving in the Army Bill went to work as an Engineer for Westinghouse. Bill was also a member of the Baltimore Colts Dixie Band. He was a musician, and a pilot; owning his own plane, he would do anything that he set his mind to. He is survived by his children Susan Copes, Roger Annable, and Barbara Raymond; 10 grandchildren Denise Remery, Shannon Martin, Kelsey Robison, Amy Ballweg, Joseph Annable, Kristen Annable, Tony Kelso, Justin Emery, and Rachel Emery; 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by his youngest brother William Annable and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son David Annable, granddaughter Sandi Graybill, siblings Charles Annable, James Annable, Edward Annable, Davis Annable and Ellen Hills. Dan Staton and his wife April; 17 grandchildren, Max Levee and his wife Leslie, Wesly Watkins and his wife Chrissy, Michael Montaigne, Jr. , Christopher Watkins an his wife Lauren, Rachel Bergstrom and her husband Steve, Bryce Gutknecht, Meghin Talbert and her husband Jacob, Ashley Friend and her husband John, Brianna Dodrer and her husband Daniel, Lauran Coale and her husband Juston, Stacy Staton, Melinda Eyler, Caitlyn Gouge and her husband James, Bryant Gutknecht, Brandon Gutknecht, Cora Staton, and Lyle Gutknecht and his wife Shirley. Willis E. Drummond, Jr. , 98, of Sykesville, MD, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023 at Carroll Hospital Center; loving husband of the late Charlotte Helene Hipsley for 62 years; beloved son of the late Willis E. Drummond, Sr. and Alice Bittle; he is survived by children Stephen Drummond and wife Constance, Patricia Grimm and husband David, Joanne Fraser and husband Walter, Mara Drummond, Suzanne Eckert and husband William, and daughter-in-law Tricia Flannagan; he is also survived by 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister Byrd Keiter. Besides being a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Will was an avid reader, loved to play cards and shoot pool; was the trips coordinator for the Fairhaven Residents Association; and model train enthusiast. Will served in the Army Air Force as a Private First-Class during WWII from October, 1943 to April, 1946. He cherished his faith and worked three jobs to send his five children to 12 years of parochial school. He was an avid member of the St. Agnes Men's Club, Holy Family Knights of Columbus, and devoted usher at the Fairhaven Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Tuesday, September 26th at 10:00 a. m. at Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
