Lynn E. Watts, 82, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, with her loving family by her side at Newton Medical Center. She was a loving and proud mother and grandmother, cherished sister and aunt, and devoted wife and caring friend. Born on August 16, 1941 in West Orange, NJ, to Robert and Jessie Cunningham. Lynn's mother, Jessie immigrated from Scotland to America through Ellis Island in 1921. One of seven children, Lynn grew up in Montville and went to Boonton High School, before Montville High School existed. She later moved to North Tonawanda, New York, near Buffalo before moving back to Towaco/Monville, where she raised her children. In 1985 the family moved to Wantage where she worked as an administrative officer for The State of NJ at The Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility for 25 years before her retirement in 2013. After her retirement, Lynn enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. She loved flowers and looked forward to planting them every spring. She also enjoyed a piping hot cup of strong English tea every morning with a buttered piece of toast. A testament to her way of simple living and never needing more than was necessary. Lynn was a woman of integrity, faith, kindness and unwavering love. She always put her family's needs before her own. She taught her family the importance of hard work, dedication and the value of family. Predeceased by her parents, and siblings; Virginia Sue Cunningham, Robert C. Cunningham, David L. Cunningham and Ellie (Elsa) Peer. Lynn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert E. Watts. Cherished mother of Bruce Watts (and his wife Kathy) and Karen Prignano (and her husband Victor). Adoring Nana of; Emma Rose (17), Victor Jr. (14), and Stella Grace Prignano (9). Beloved sister of Jay and Gary Cunningham. Lynn was at peace knowing she would be reunited with her siblings Virginia Sue, Bobby, David and Ellie as well as her beloved Mother & Father. As per Lynn's wishes, cremation is private and under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home in Sussex, NJ. A private Inurnment service for the family will be held at Restland Memorial Park on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11am. Flower delivery to the inurnment site at Restland is welcomed and appreciated. Born to Otto and Helen Frieling in New York City, NY, he lived in the Bronx, NY before moving to the Cliffwood Lake section of Vernon Twp. , NJ in 1969. Eugene worked as a maintenance mechanic for Halo Carbon Chemical Co. in Hackensack, NJ for over 20 years retiring in 1987. Eugene was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin, NJ and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Cherry Ridge Gun Club in Vernon Twp. , NJ. He was a very social person and always wandering the neighborhood to assist his neighbors with any help he could provide. Eugene is predeceased by his son, Eugene(1995) and is the beloved husband for 58 years of Ann Frieling(nee McNamara) of Vernon Twp. , NJ. Devoted father of Christopher Frieling and his wife, Gail of Vernon Twp. , NJ and Kelly Weller and her husband, Anthony Ferrara of Sparta Twp. , NJ. Loving grandfather of Madelyn and Caroline. Donald J. Zym, 87, of Franklin Lakes, passed away peacefully in his home on December 2, 2023. He was born on April 14, 1936 in Paterson, New Jersey. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose, of 61 years and children, Donna Munao and former spouse Frederick Munao, Tammy Vallar and spouse Robert Vallar and son Donald Zijm. He was a loving grandfather to four grandchildren, Roberto, Maximilian, Dallas Rose and Alexander. As a young man he served in the United States Air Force, worked at Hoffmann-LaRoche at the time of marriage, and at age 40 became an entrepreneur. He had much success starting his own company, Effective Air Balance, Inc. which he ran until his retirement. He served on the board of directors of the Associated Air Balance Council and was a leader in his field for more than two decades. He was active in his community, participating in various clubs and community events, including serving on the town pool commission while living in Totowa. After retirement, he began taking art classes and took up painting as a hobby. He enjoyed his free time at second homes in Brigantine, New Jersey and then later in Naples, Florida, where he spent winters with his wife for two decades. He is predeceased by his parents, Orie and Rose Zym. He grew up as one of three children, survived by his brother John and sister, Roseann. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Arthur John Paterson, 84, of Franklin Lakes, passed away on November 29, 2023. Arthur was born on December 26, 1938 to John and Grace Paterson (nee Colagrande) in New York City. He grew up in Paterson, NJ and settled in Franklin Lakes with his young family. Loving husband of 53 years to Laura Paterson (nee McGill). Devoted father of Michael Paterson and his wife Colleen Pagan and Arthur Paterson and his wife Stacie. Cherished grandfather of Jack, Ryan, Nicholas, Emma, James, and Benjamin. Brother of the late Jack Paterson. Arthur spent more than 30 years teaching in the Oakland Public School System where he met his wife, Laura. He served as chief negotiator for the Oakland teachers, securing significant contractual improvements, some of which are still in place today. Arthur was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament RC Church in Franklin Lakes where he was a Eucharistic Minister and daily parishioner. During his retirement, he became an active volunteer in Pastoral Care at The Valley Hospital. For almost 20 years, Arthur enjoyed bringing communion to the sick as a Eucharistic Minister. Arthur proudly served his country in the United States Army. Family and friends may visit the Paterson family on Thursday, December 7th from 3:30-7:00pm at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Joyce D. Scott, 73 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at UMC at Bristol Glen. Born in Montclair, NJ to the late John and Ruth (Hall) Dowden, Joyce grew up in Montclair before settling in Franklin, N. J. , over 40 years ago. Growing up, she enjoyed spending her summers at Lake Gerard, and it was during her time life guarding at the Franklin Pond that she met the love of her life, the late John G. Scott. In between devoting her time to her three children and husband, and caring for her patients for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Newton Medical Center, Joyce could be seen volunteering her time, worshiping, and in fellowship with others at the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin. Joyce was an avid reader, a pianist, and lover of music. Skiing Vernon Valley/Great Gorge, spending her summers at Lake Simcoe in Ontario with family, and Sunday afternoon hikes were some of her favorite memories from over the years. Joyce treasured her annual trips to the UK, touring and exploring England with her beloved travel companion and husband, John. Predeceased by her parents, her husband, John (2018), and her sister, Tara Bell Dowden, Joyce is survived by her loving children: Mark Scott and his wife, Eirini of Robbinsville, N. Bruce S. "Mitch" Mitchell, 85, was born April 6, 1938 in Jamaica, Queens, NY. After serving in the United States Coast Guard as an Engineman in Battery Park Station, NY and Greenwood Lake, NY, he opened Mitchell's Service Station in Greenwood Lake. He then worked for several automotive dealerships as a parts manager, retiring from McGuire Chevrolet. He resided in Vernon then Wantage for over 49 years. He passed away on November 28, 2023, at Newton Medical Center with Gail by his side. Trips to his house in Gilboa, NY for many decades were filled with snowmobiling, boating, and waterskiing. He was an exceptional mechanic, woodworker and craftsman, enjoying many hobbies and projects. He loved to tinker and could fix anything. An engine enthusiast, Mitch was a member of the North Jersey Antique Engine & Machine Club. He spent countless hours restoring vintage gas pumps, rototillers, tractors, and his prized 1956 yellow Ford pick-up truck. He was a regular presence at local classic car shows and tractor parades. Mitch enjoyed his mornings with his "high-test" black coffee in his workshop "barn" with his closest friends. His passion for his handiwork was matched by his wry wit. Mitch loved and cherished his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail D. Pressimone, of Wantage; his wonderful children, Denise Lange and her husband Rob of Wantage; Doreen Sciabica of Lafayette, NJ; and John Pressimone and his wife Sandra of Montville, NJ; as well as his sister Patricia Raptoulis and her husband Stephen of East Setauket, NY. Mitch was a proud grandfather to Brian, Sean, and Nicole Lange; Sareena and Mia Sciabica; and Cristina, Adrianna, and Gianna Pressimone. He will be missed dearly and loved always. Patricia Ann Tyndall Akellian from Naples, Florida and formerly Franklin Lakes, New Jersey passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023. Born on June 26, 1936 in New Jersey, she was the daughter of Louis and Adele Tyndall and grew up in Ridgefield, New Jersey. She moved to Naples in 1998 with her dear husband of 48 years, N. Paul Akellian D. D. S, who passed away in 2005. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cared deeply about her family, friends, and donating to her important causes and charities. Pat was a graduate of Temple University School of Nursing School, earned a bachelor of science from Fairleigh Dickinson and a master's degree in public administration from New York University. She had successful careers in nursing and as an executive for providers of health insurance and health care. For many years she enjoyed sailing with her husband Paul in the northeast and other locations around the world. After retiring, she volunteered to work for hospitals and other health care institutions. She cherished family, spending time with her friends, and staying in touch with her extended family around the globe. Pat is survived by her daughter Janine Delamerced and husband Ernest, her son David and wife Susan, her son Jeffrey and wife Kanlaya, and her six grandchildren, Laura, Nicole, Chloe, Bridget, Maxwell, Sophie, and her great grandchild Micah.
