Mr. H. Lynn McAlister, age 71, of Patriot, Indiana, entered this life on July 27, 1952 in Patriot, Indiana. He was raised in Patriot, Indiana and was the son of, Howard Lewis "Whitey" McAlister, whom preceded him in death and Vera Louise (Kinman) McAlister. Lynn attended the Patriot High School where he played basketball. Lynn graduated in 1971 from the Switzerland County High School. Lynn was united in marriage to Cathy Lynn Gridley on March 28, 1981 in Vevay, Indiana. Lynn and Cathy shared nearly 48 years together and was blessed with two sons, BJ and Dan. Lynn owned and operated alongside his parents business, McAlister Excavating Company in Patriot, Indiana, since 1970. Lynn was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #181 of Henderson, Kentucky. Lynn was also a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185. Lynn was always so proud of his sons and loved watching BJ coach high school basketball. He loved and adored his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Lynn enjoyed mowing and bush hogging, as well as, tinkering on his 1934 Chevy Sedan. Lynn loved spending time with his family and socializing with his friends. Lynn passed away with his loving family by his side at 6:10 p. m. , Friday, September 8, 2023, at his residence. Lynn will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy Lynn (Gridley) McAlister of Patriot, IN; his sons, BJ McAlister and his companion, Jensen Ricke of New Albany, IN and Dan McAlister and his wife, Kodi of Patriot, IN; his grandchildren, Lainie, Landon and Lynleigh "Lou Lou" McAlister; his mother, Vera Louise (Kinman) McAlister of Patriot, IN; his brother, Steve McAlister and his wife, Sheila of Rising Sun, IN; his nieces, nephews and cousins and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diane Karagory and Randy of Scarborough, ME, Toni and Tim Young of Center Square, IN, Bridget Gridley of Vevay, IN, April Gridley and Mattea of Vevay, IN and David Gridley of Vevay, IN. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Lewis "Whitey" McAlister, died June 13, 2004; his mother-in-law, Wilma "Mickey" Gridley, died February 7, 1971 and his father-in-law, Oliver David Gridley, died October 9, 2019. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p. m. - 7:00 p. m, Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery, Patriot, Indiana. Full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the H. Mr. Duane Edward Hansman, age 59, of Patriot, Indiana, entered this life on September 27, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the loving son of, William Herman Hansman Sr. and Virginia (Rebholz) Hansman. He was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and was a 1982 graduate of Forest Park High School. In his early years of life, Duane attended St. Matthias Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Duane was employed for various companies as a diesel mechanic in Cincinnati, Ohio and Ghent, Kentucky for several years. He also worked in maintenance for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana for over five years. Duane was a member of the Teamsters Union in Cincinnati, Ohio and Ohio Gun Collectors Association. Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, camping, as well as feeding and spending time with his family and friends. Duane passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at his beloved cabin in Patriot, Indiana. Duane is survived by his daughter, Kyla Peters and her fiance, Blake Evans of Connersville, IN; his mother, Virginia (Rebholz) Hansman of Cincinnati, OH; his sisters, Nina McCoy of Cincinnati, OH, Rebecca Dineen of Cincinnati, OH, Sarah Henry and her husband, Jeff of Cincinnati, OH and Courtney Romeo and her husband, Nick of Nashville, TN; his brothers, William Hansman, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Cincinnati, OH and Jeremy Hansman and his wife, Amanda of Dayton, OH and his many beloved nieces and nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Herman Hansman, Sr. , died December 13, 2011. Alanna Maria (Reyner) Smith, 69, of Patriot, IN, passed away on Saturday, February 11th, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. Alanna was born in Batesville, IN on February 8, 1954, a daughter of the late Barbara Ann (DuVall) Reyner and Harry Louis Reyner. She grew up in the Patriot community and attended school in Switzerland County. Alanna married James Oliver Smith on August 17, 1991 at the First Baptist Church in Patriot, IN. They were married 23 years until Jim's passing on December 3, 2014. Alanna was a faithful member of the Rising Sun First Baptist Church. She liked spending her time doing crafts, especially cross stitching and diamond art. Alanna loved animals and delighted in seeing the birds that came to her feeders. She also enjoyed the outdoors, tending to her flowers and garden. Alanna had a kind and loving soul and was a cherished sister and beloved aunt and great aunt to her family. Alanna is survived by her sister, Teresa Coy (Allen), of Osgood, IN; by her brother, Paul Reyner (Pat), of Patriot, IN; by her nephews, James Parker (Kim) and the late Jacob Parker; by nieces, Kythryn Nicole Reyner, Emily Anne Fisher (Gary), Erin Renyer (Zach), Tessa Renyer (Will) and Carla Auel; by great nieces and nephews, Trevor, Hayden Abigail, Riley Ann, Carter, Charlotte, Kail, Cheyenne, Jordan, Olivia, Kylee, Bethany, Liam, Madeline, Madison, and Jaden; by her uncle Gary Duvall and aunt Patty DuVall and many other loving family members of the DuVall and Smith families. Leah L. Dunaway, 85, of Patriot, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at her residence. Leah was born in Patriot, IN on May 11, 1937, a daughter of the late Pearl (Wright) Devers and Parker Devers. Leah was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1955 graduate of Patriot High School. On January 7, 1956 she married Austin R. Dunaway in Lawrenceburg, IN. Leah and Austin were married over 61 years until his passing on November 3rd, 2017. Leah worked at Thatcher Glass (and then Anchor Glass) in Greendale, IN for over 30 years. Leah was a faithful member of the Temple Baptist Church in Patriot, IN until declining health prevented her. Leah took great pride in providing a loving and caring home to her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed working in her yard. Leah is survived by her son, Steve Dunaway, of Rising Sun, IN; by her two daughters, Karen Staples, of Sunman, IN and Angie Staat, of Patriot, IN; by her grandchildren; Joe Dunaway, Corey Dunaway, Jeremy Staples, Bobby Whitham & Caitlyn Staat and by her great grandchildren; Bailey, Jayden, Jordan, Arianna, Lilly and Chloe. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
