Robert Lunsford, 88 of Eatonton passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 surrounded by his family. Robert was born on May 17, 1935 to the late Leige and Cora Lunsford. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda Lunsford of 54 years and grandson, Spencer Englett. Robert was retired from both the United States Marines and the OMNI International Hotel, Atlanta, enjoyed the time he spent at the Waffle House having breakfast. He also enjoyed fishing and yard work, but loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, December 15, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Baldwin Memorial Gardens. Robert is survived by his children, Robert Lunsford II (Marcee) of Sylva, NC, Robin Sibley (Ron) of Eatonton, grandchildren Lauren (Rob) Boyer, of Sparta, GA, Jacob (Laine) Lunsford of Dublin, GA, Abby (Rhys) Adams of Clarksville, TN, great grandchildren, Ryder Boyer, Abel Lunsford and Tate Lunsford. Linda Batchelor of Eatonton passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was born in Shady Dale, on August 16, 1948 to the late John and Emma Griffith. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Brian Batchelor. Linda was a member of Grace Baptist Church, she enjoyed spending time in her garden planting, and taking care of her dogs. She also enjoyed going on camping trips to the mountains, playing softball. Linda worked as the dispatcher for Putnam Transit. A visitation is scheduled at Grace Baptist Church on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 1 to 2 pm, followed by a service at 2pmBurial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens following the service. Maxine Thomas Mason went to her heavenly home on December 1, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Mason, her parents, M. E. and Birdie Thomas and one brother, Randall Thomas. She is survived by her three sons and their families: Nathan & Pat Mason with children Erica & David Haley and Casey & Brooke Mason; Mike & Linda Mason with daughter Julia Grant; Randy & Tina Mason with children McKenzie & Brandon Cardwell, Brett & Carissa Mason, and Gannon & Claire Mason. She also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren: EmmaClair Haley, Mason Haley, Karter Mason, Willow Mason, Piper Mason, Jack Cardwell, Madilynn Mason, Naomi Mason, JoDee Mason, and Jude Mason. As well as nephews Byron and Stewart Thomas and their families. Maxine was born in Gainesville, Ga and moved to Eatonton in her early years. After graduating high school, she married Leroy Mason and went to college for business. Maxine returned to Eatonton to work as an in home nanny for the next 40 plus years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Services were held at Calvary Baptist Church on Tuesday December 5, 2023.Show more

Caroline Lundy

Caroline Griffith Lundy of Eatonton passed away November 30th. She was born to the late Powell Griffith and Inez Gregory Griffith. She was a member of Eatonton Methodist Church. Although her parents were deeply rooted in Eatonton, she was born in Norfolk, Virginia where her father was stationed in the navy. They were soon after sent to the base in San Diego, California. As a surgeon during WWII on the battleship New Mexico, he survived kamikaze attacks in the Pacific theatre, a fact that she was proud of to her last day. After the war she attended the exclusive Marlborough school for girls outside of Los Angeles. After the sudden death of her father in 1949 the family returned to Eatonton. She graduated from Georgia College for women in Milledgeville with an education degree. She taught school at both Gatewood and Putnam County during a long career. She was always happy to help former students in college who needed her advice on college level English. Her cooking was legendary. She was well known for making the best cornbread in the world. Her mind was perfect until the very end, and she certainly would still tell her kids what to do! As usual, the reply was " Yes ma'am. "She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Lundy as well as her parents and brother Powell Griffith. She is survived by her sons Chip Walker (Tammy), John Walker, and daughter Vikki Drawdy (Tommy. ) She is also survived by her five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Jerry Graham, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at his residence. Jerry was born on October 30, 1961 in Eatonton to the late Howard and Annie Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Peggy. Jerry had never gotten over the loss of his wife, and he was a great husband to her. Jerry was involved with the case knife community, he collected knives, was an avid video gamer and also a card collector. No service is planned at the current time. Jerry is survived by his daughter Angela Borders (Steven Sala), grandchildren Gerald Borders Jr. (Taylor), Aaron Borders, Corey Borders, great grandchildren Autumn Borders, Winter Borders, Braiden Borders and many nieces and nephews.Show more

Joseph Larman 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2023. He was born in Eatonton on November 13, 1933 to the late Nellie and William Bryan Larman Sr. Joseph was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, he was a dedicated dairyman, and an extremely hard worker, he also enjoyed driving his big truck. He especially loved spending time with his family. The visitation will be on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 12 to 1 pm at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, followed by a service at 1 pm. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery. Joseph is survived by his son Joe Larman Jr. (Anne), granddaughters Natalie Chapman (Tony), Bridget Borders, Hannah Brantley, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.Show more

Jerry Hobbs, age 69 passed away peacefully after an extended illness on November 6, 2023. He was born on February 7, 1954 in Laurens County to the late Clara Maddox Parr and Claude W. Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Monroe Parr and brother Jimmy Hobbs. Years ago Jerry was a avid golfer and loved playing with his brother Jimmy who was as competitive as he was. He was a member of the Rising Star Lodge #4 and loved his friends dearly. Before moving to Dublin he was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Jerry is survived by his wife Pat, children Crystal Ayers (Gabe) of Greenville, SC, Brandy Flood (Josh) of Jefferson, GA, Christopher Harrell (significant other, Lori Juarez) of Morrison CO, and Lindi Wicker (fiance Jamie Suggs) of Dublin, GA, grandchildren Sylvia Ayers, Finley Flood, Ahdi-Laine Humphries and Hendrix Humphries, a very special Aunt Betty McElheney and stepmother Georgia Hobbs Wynne. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11:30 am at Vining Ivy Hill Chapel with a private family service immediately following. The family will be gathering at the home of Betty McElheney afterwards. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Masonic Children's Home in Macon or the Shiner's Hospital in Atlanta.Show more

Elsie Miller 80, of Eatonton passed away on November 15, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kingsland, GA on February 28, 1943 to the late Millard and Mildred Peeples Smith. She was a member of Marshall Memorial Baptist Church, and was a great seamstress, she enjoyed gardening, but most of all loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all Elsie loved the Lord. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and great grandson Caden Griffin, sisters Frances White, Aldaria Jesinghaus and Ella Mae Drury. A visitation will be on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 2 to 3 pm at Marshall Memorial Baptist Church, followed by a service at 3 pm.
