Scott H. Pomeroy, 76, of Cornell, passed away Wednesday, November 22 at House of the Dove in Marshfield after spending the entire day surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Scott was born March 2, 1947, in Black River Falls, the son of Raymond and Jean(Boyer) Pomeroy. He graduated from BRF High School in 1965 and joined the National Guard. On August 3, 1968, Scott married his high school sweetheart, Debbie Steinke in Black River Falls. He attended UW River Falls and graduated with a teaching degree in social studies. Scott taught for the Cornell School District for 33 years and retired in 2005. Following his retirement, Scott substitute taught in surrounding communities for the subsequent 10 years. Scott loved the outdoors. He was an avid musky fisherman and passed his love of fishing on to his son and grandson. He was always up for a fishing or hunting trip with his buddies. He shared his love of sports by coaching and refereeing football, basketball, and softball for many years. He loved watching all Wisconsin sport teams and planned his daily schedule around game time. In his retirement, Scott traveled countless miles attending his grandchildren's activities. He loved to brag about their accomplishments and spent countless hours texting them, giving them advice, and keeping them in line. They were his proudest accomplishment. Scott is survived by his wife Debbie; one daughter Angie (Tracy) Klass of Sparta, one son Mark (Stacy) Pomeroy of Phillips, bonus son Mark (Amanda) Jiskra of Chippewa Falls, one brother Don(Judy) Pomeroy of Black River Falls, one sister JoAnn Luke of Lake Delton; 6 grandchildren, Emily, Paige, Olivia, Tye, Jaycee and Paula. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Elvin and Doris Lee, and sister-in-law Mollie Harrington. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 2 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cornell. Friends may call Friday, December 1st from 5 to 8 pm at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home and 10:00 am Saturday until the time of service. Scott's family would like to thank the 8th floor(north) staff at the Marshfield Medical Center for their exceptional care. They also want to express their appreciation to House of the Dove in Marshfield. Their professionalism and compassion was remarkable. Carol "Charlie" Marie (Tarnowski) VerhulstCarol Marie Verhulst, 76, Holcombe, passed away Monday November 6th, 2023, at Azura Memory Care of Eau Claire. Carol was born January 19, 1947 to Eugene and Irene (Logan) Tarnowski. She grew up in Holcombe near the Flambeau Mountain. Carol graduated from the Lake Holcombe High School in 1965. She then went to Chicago, Ill. and attended Airline School for one year. She moved back to Holcombe and was a secretary at the Lake Holcombe School. She would meet the love of her life shortly after, James Verhulst. They were married on December 21, 1968. Carol continued working at the Lake Holcombe School until 1970 and then became a wonderful, loving full-time mom. Later in life she would join her husband and son working as a cnc operator at their family business Superior Machine & Design in Holcombe. Besides being a full-time mom, she enjoyed oil painting, quilting, and her 60's music was always playing. She loved snowmobiling and taking her Ski-Doo out to the ice shack for a day of fishing. In the spring she was ready for the crappies to start biting. Carol was always helping with maple syrup, picking blackberries, and canning veggies from her garden. Carol's favorite beach was Julian Bay on Stockton Island, Lake Superior and she loved the singing sand. Carols favorite snack was a chocolate Hershey bar and a Mountain Dew. Carol had so many fun memories she shared with her family. She loved the Flambeau Mountain and growing up there. Her and her siblings would take their runner sleds in the winter and slide down the mountain road. Her dad would be on the bottom to stop them. We are so happy for all the memories and talents she shared with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by: daughter Mikelle (Gary) Salzgeber, son Jason (Tami) Verhulst; her grandchildren: Mikali (Todd) Hicke Salzgeber, Zackari Salzgeber, Cameron Verhulst, Alyssa Verhulst, Matthew Verhulst, and Lucas Verhulst. Sister Judy (Ray) Liszewski and brother Larry (Lyn) Tarnowski. She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Irene Tarnowski, brother James Tarnowski and her loving husband James Vehulst. Nancy Amdahl passed away peacefully on September 17, 2023, at Dove Healthcare in Eau Claire, WI, at the age of 82. Born in Chippewa Falls, WI, in 1941, Nancy was the cherished only child of Glen and Sena Holen. She attended Chippewa Falls High School, where she discovered her love for archery and dancing. It was through her love of dancing that she met her future husband Walter Amdahl, on July 4, 1959, at Rainbow Gardens. On December 17, 1960, Nancy married Walter Amdahl. The couple lived in Waterloo, IA, and Chippewa Falls, WI, before settling on their farm in Cadott, WI, where together they raised two loving sons, Gary and Kent. Nancy was an affectionate mother who adored her family, finding immense joy in spending time with them. Throughout her life, Nancy wore many hats. She worked as a dedicated bookkeeper at Mason Shoe, served as a bus driver for Cadott Community Schools, held positions as treasurer and clerk for the township of Goetz, and delivered mail as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service until her retirement. Nancy had a passion for Western movies, particularly those featuring John Wayne, and she found excitement in the action-packed novels of Louis L'Amour. She was an avid gardener, an excellent cook, and baker, and she generously shared her culinary talents with family and friends. What truly set Nancy apart was her unwavering warmth and genuine interest in others. Her welcoming smile and friendly hello were cherished by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and encouragement. Nancy always supported her children's dreams and instilled in them the values of kindness and generosity. Nancy is survived by her sons, Gary Amdahl and Kent Amdahl. Her parents and husband, Walter Amdahl, preceded her in death. A funeral service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Big Drywood Lutheran Church 27095 120th Ave. Cadott, WI, with Pastor Lucy Schottelkorb officiating, with visitation two hours prior to the service at the Church. Norbert Anthony Sedlacek,93 years young, was born on October 5th, 1929 and passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family who devotedly cared for and supported him through his end of life. Norbert was born in Cadott, WI. were he grew up. He met his late wife Loraine Katzbahn at the Pines Ballroom in Bloomer, they were married on August 26th, 1952 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden. They resided together in Jim Falls for over 66 years. Catholic faith, family and friends were his top priorities through out his life. He was loving and kind to all he met and he was willing to help and give when he could. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, dancing polka's and waltz's and playing cards. He was a long standing member and also a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Jean Brunet Council 4948 and enjoyed church festivals. Norbert is survived by his six children Ellen Janecke, Paula Sedlacek, Michael (Jeanne) Sedlacek, Karen (Jeffrey) Harings, Rita (Rick)Erickson and Luann Williams; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister in law Lorraine Katzbahn and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Norbert was preceded in death by his wife Loraine (Katzbahn); his parents Joseph and Lottie (Goodman) Sedlacek; brothers Robert, Peter, Joseph, Jr. , Jerome, and Lewis; sisters Charlotte Manhoff, Margaret Mary, and Irene Marks and many sisters and brothers in law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, September 1st, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Drywood, WI. with Father Eric Linzmaier as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Drywood, WI. following the Funeral Mass. A Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM on Friday September 1st, 2023 at the Leiser Funeral Home 511 N. Main St. Cadott, WI.
