Luverne Bierle, 87, of Webster City, Iowa, died at his home on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the First Congregational UCC Church in Webster City, from 1:00 – 1:45 PM followed by the Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www. bomanfh. com) to care for their needs. Luverne was born on his "grampa" Bierle’s farm north of Utica, SD, to Lloyd and Albina (Peterka) on February 27, 1936. He went to Rockland school No. 23 (rural school) for eight years and high school at Scotland High School, in Scotland SD. He served in the army from 1956 – 1958, and was stationed in West Berlin, Germany. He graduated from Southern State College, in Springfield, SD with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Masters degree in Business from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. He also attended classes at ISU and UNI. He taught in high schools in South Dakota and Iowa for ten years, and then Iowa Central Community College for 27 years. Luverne was active in Boy Scouts for 30 years, serving at the local and district level. He received the Silver Beaver, the highest honor for adults. He was a member of the Iowa Business Education Association, where he served as President, the National Business Education Association, Iowa Vocational Association and National Vocational Association. Luverne was also a member of First Congregational UCC Church, in Webster City, and Kiwanis, serving as President of the Diamond K and Noon clubs, and as Lt. Governor of District 7. His first love was spending time with family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids. He also enjoyed gardening, making crafts, yard art from pallets, deer hunting, and fishing. He married Verna Orth on August 11, 1961. They had three children: Scott (Cindy), Todd (Paula), and Tonya (Stan) Matuszak; six grandchildren: Brittany, Cameron, Allie, Mason, Courtney, and Conner; two great granddaughters: Madison and Taytum; and one great grandson Daxton. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Alice; and brother Duane.

"Donald Henry Beck, 89, of Fort Dodge, died on Monday, November 13, 2023, at the Southfield Wellness Center in Webster City. Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with visitation one hour prior to services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Service will be livestreamed on Facebook at Good Shepherd Fort Dodge. Entombment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge with full military honors conducted by the United States Navy and the VFW Post #1856. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Fort Dodge Donald H. Beck was born in Graettinger, Iowa on October 13, 1934, to John and Faye (Whitford) Beck. He grew up on a farm near Peterson, Iowa. Don enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1955. He was stationed in Japan, Philippines, and Korea. During the Korean War he was stationed on the USS Colonial (LSD-18). On December 2, 1955, Don married Lila Pingel in Canton, South Dakota. They made their home in Cherokee, Iowa. In 1965, Don and Lila moved to Fort Dodge and opened Northwest Office Inc. and spent the remainder of his working years there. In retirement Don delivered flowers for Hy Vee. During his retirement he and Lila enjoyed camping and wintering in Arizona. Don's children will miss him tremendously; he always had a smile on his face and was so kind to all! He is survived by his three children Mike and Karen Beck of Queens Creek Arizona, Sheryl and Marty Rogers of West Des Moines, and Steve Beck of Fort Dodge. He leaves behind his 11 grandchildren, Jaime Leonhart, Jeremy Beck, Jenny Steele, Jered Rogers, Jason Beck, Justin Beck, Jesse Beck, Keeli Farley, Chelsey Halverson, Erin Miller, and Maddy Van Engen; and 23 great grandchildren, Mia, Max, and Maci Leonhart, Hunter and Taylor Beck, Allison and Bennett Steele, Jameson and Tatum Rogers, Trenton Beck, Tawnie and Cameron Beck, Knox, Kyler and Kenley Farley, Bo and Emmett Halverson, Holden and Reston Miller, Jax, Cash, Kolt and Hallie Van Engen. Anna Marie Rowe, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Boman Funeral Home, with a memorial Service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 also at Boman Funeral Home (www. bomanfh. com). Anna was born on November 29, 1940, to G. Ivan and Florence Rehnblom, at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Anna was raised on farms in the Blairsburg and Stratford area, graduating in 1958 from Webster City High School. In December of 1958 Anna married Robert G. Beem in Webster City, to this union five children were born. They divorced in 1974. On August 30, 1975, Anna married Larry Rowe in Iowa City. In 1981 they moved to Tiffin. Anna worked at Iowa Medical and Classification Center as a Correctional Officer for over 24 years. She retired on disability in September of 1999. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Anna’s family includes her children: Bill, John (Kari), Teresa, Jeff (Sherry) and Brian Beem; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Melva (Keith) Mapel of Casa Grande, AZ; brother-in-law Rick (Deb) Rowe of Batavia, IA; Jana Lroendal, of Oskaloosa, IA; two aunts; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Jonathan Janssen, 68 of Ocala, FL. Passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City after a brief battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held at later date. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services. Jonathan Ray Janssen was born June 3, 1955 in Webster City to Glen and Donna (Staples) Janssen of Williams. He was raised in the Williams and Blairsburg area and graduated in 1974 from Northeast Hamilton High School. Jon was united in marriage to Jaque Nilles in 1991, the couple later divorced. He lived most of his life in Webster City and worked at White Transfer & Consolidated for 25 years. Jon spent a few years in Colorado and most recently lived in Ocala, FL. He had a deep love for his family, he didn't feel family was just blood relatives, it was everyone he met along life's journey that he enjoyed and loved. Without a doubt the most important person in Jon's life was his twin brother, "Jimbo", who passed away on July 28, 2023. Through the years when they were not physically in the same place, they stayed connected by numerous phone calls every day. Left to cherish Jon's memory are his sisters, Charla Cole, Gail (Dan) Thies both of Pharr, TX; Becky Finch, Mary (Joe) McKinney, Glenda (Don) Wills all of Webster City; sisters-in-law, Peggy Janssen of Pharr, TX; Jill Kordash of Ocala, FL along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. Marilyn Carrol Timm, 90, of Webster City, Iowa, died at her home, on Saturday, November 4, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Monday November 13, 2023, Boman Funeral Home (www. bomanfh. com) in Webster City. Marilyn was born on October 21, 1933, in Blairsburg, Iowa to Cecil and Elsie (Black) Mullins. After graduating from NE Hamilton High School in 1950, she went on to attend AIB College of Business. While attending AIB, she worked at The Capital Building. She married Emmett Timm on December 27, 1952, in Webster City, Iowa. The couple lived in Hamiton County for several years and were blessed with children Debbie and Rollie. They then moved to Aurora, IL, where Emmett worked for 13 years, and while there Denise joined the family. They moved back to Hamilton County in the early 1960’s, Where Marilyn worked alongside Emmet doing the book work for their Trenching business. They also spent 10 years living in Arizona, before returning to Webster City. Marilyn was an Avid reader, scrapbooker and cherished being a mother and raising her family. She was a member of the St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City. Marilyn’s family includes her children: Debbie Timm (Richard Casky), son Rollie Timm and Denise Humlicek, all of Webster City; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-greatgrandchildren; and sister Pat (Gene) Grable of California. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2017; and sisters Charlotte and Betty.Show more

Carol Brandt, 87, Duncombe, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Carol Jean Royster was born March 14, 1936 to Dwight and Lulu Royster in Webster City, Iowa. Carol was blessed with seven siblings. On June 6, 1954 she married Jim Brandt at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City, Iowa. The couple had four children: Rhonda Brandt Wood, Angela (Tim) Habben of Westminster, CO; Jamie (Beth) Brandt of Duncombe and Jeff (Lynette) Brandt of Webster City. They have 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Carol also enjoyed her flower garden, specifically Sweet Peas, crafting, and desserts. Carol and Jim also found joy in fostering 11 babies over a few years. Her most precious moments were spent drinking coffee and sharing meaningful conversations, stories, wisdom (old wives tales) and laughter with her many visitors. Carol served on the St. Paul's Lutheran Church-Social Ministry committee for 25 years. Her infectious laughter, often accompanied by tears of joy was a testament to her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with her extended family and friends. The couple lived most of their lives on a farm in Duncombe, Iowa with previous years spent in Northwood and Thompson, Iowa. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings (Ruth Ball, Dean Royster, Pearl Kaufman, Dorothy Legg, Catherine Powers, Marjorie Royster (infant) and Chuck Royster) and daughter, Rhonda Brandt Wood. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City on Tuesday, Nov. 7th from 5-7 p. m. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City on Wednesday, Nov. 8th at 10 a. m. with interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Webster City. LaVonne Johnson, 95, of Webster City passed away at Van Diest Medical Center on Friday, October 2023 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls. Foster Funeral and Cremation is entrusted with the services. LaVonne Shirley Amundson, daughter of Omer Arphy and Borghild Geneva Knudslien Amundson, was born May 11, 1928 in Radcliffe. She was baptized on February 13, 1938 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe and was later confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. LaVonne was a very loving and caring person who loved babysitting children from a very young age to 80 years old. She will be rocking babies in heaven. LaVonne was a foster mother to many children in Iowa Falls and Webster City. She also was a cook at the Red Rooster in Iowa Falls starting in the 1960s. LaVonne was a past Boy Scout Leader, she loved writing poems and enjoyed her birds, fish and chickens. For many years, she entered baking items at the Hamilton County Fair. She was well known for her banana bread and cookies that she baked for all of the kids. On December 14, 1951, LaVonne married Donald Ivan Hackbarth of Popejoy at the parsonage at Bethany Lutheran Church. Her sister, Barb Amundson and Glen Kenoe witnessed the wedding. To this marriage a daughter was born, Brenda Lea Hackbarth. They couple later divorced. On November 11, 1966 she was united in marriage to Sigfred John Johnson of Iowa Falls. A son, James Matthew Johnson, was born to this union. LaVonne is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Lynn) Reinsch; son, James Johnson all of Webster City; grandchildren, Lynn (Chanell) Reinsch II of Fitchburg, WI, Isabel Reinsch, Benjamin Reinsch and extra grandchild, Casey Dahlhauser all of Webster City; great-grandchildren, Maddux and Finley Reinsch of Fitchburg, WI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Borghild Amundson; husband, Sigfred Johnson; nine brothers and sisters, Ruth (Russell) Reed, Donald (George) Amundson, Betty Jean Abbas, Omer Arphy Amundson Jr. (JR), Herbert (Nadine) Amundson, Claude Luther Amundson, Barbara (Floyd) Ites, Roger Glen Amundson, and James Clark Amundson.Show more
