Luther William Ridgway, 70, of Greencastle passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Putnam County Hospital. Luther was born in Greencastle on July 10, 1953, the son of Louis Warren and Josephine Viola (Bowman) Ridgway Jr. , and was a 1973 graduate of South Putnam High School. Mr. Ridgway was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Terre Haute. He was a welder with Crown for 20 years until his retirement in 2020. He was also a farmer all of his life, and he continued to farm after his retirement. He loved to Fish and Camp, and he enjoyed farming. He married the love of his life, Toni Ridgway on September 29, 1973 and they shared many memories together throughout their 50 year marriage, she survives. Also surviving are their three children, T. L. Woodall, (Tony), Tiffany Cox, and Jason Ridgway, (Brandi); seven granddaughters, Harley Shelton, (Tony), Madison Carnes, Justice Ridgway, Korbyn Cox, Taylor Ridgway, Arianna Ridgway, and June Ridgway; two great grandchildren, Jaxon Shelton, and Ivvy Shelton; a brother Louis Ridgway III; and three sisters, Debra Poynter, Mary Poole, and Talitha Ridgway. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Ridgway; and a sister, Diane Ridgway. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Clinton Falls Cemetery. Marian Nelson passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 residing at Hickory Creek at Sunset Nursing home in Greencastle, Indiana. Marian Campbell Ford Nelson was born March 15, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio, the only child of Walter Wood Campbell of Cherryfield, Maine and Ruth Osborn Campbell (Keel), born in Hendricks County, Indiana. She lived with her maternal grandparents, Charles O. Osborn and Martha E. Fisher Osborn in Hazelwood, Indiana, from the age of one year to seven 1/2 years old, attending the first and second grades at the Hazelwood school house. At the death of her grandmother in 1932, she lived with her parents in Flint, Michigan, returning each summer to Indiana to be with her grandfather and relatives. In a class of 1,000, in 1942 she graduated with honors as a pre-med student and earning three letters in major sports from Flint Central High School. She returned to Greencastle, November 1942. In addition to being a homemaker she had worked as a waitress, bookkeeper, served as Putnam County Councilman-at-large, property manager and licensed medical laboratory assistant. She is survived by Samuel Jack Butt, Linton, Camille Lynn Dills Bayless, Crawfordsville, John William (Bill) Nelson, Greencastle, Susan F Bonney, Hollester, Missouri, Cindy Pulliam, Lafayette, Kenneth Scott Nelson, Linden, and Lisa Jane Nelson, Effingham, Illinois. She is also survived by several grand and great grandchildren. Services will be held 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Blaydes officiating. Ira Franklin Null, born Wallace, Indiana on April 9, 1940 at home during a snow storm. This 3 pound premature baby was placed in a shoebox and put in the kitchen oven to stay warm, to start his life. Frank passed away on November 9th, 2023 at the age of 83 after a short battle with Lung Cancer. His late parents Andrew Franklin and Ruby Murel Carpenter Null, they were primarily a farming family. Frank was the youngest of 3, his oldest sister Ester married to William Locke and his middle sister Beverley married to Harold Scott, all preceded him in death. Frank grew up as a farm boy, he worked the farm in his spare time, while attending Logan Grade School for Eight years. While attending Logan Grade School he played on the basketball team and he helped Logan win its first County Basketball Championship. He worked hard at Attica High School and he graduated in 1958 as the Senior Class President. Frank married Rebecca Leah Brothers Null in 1959. Frank worked for two years for Olin Mathison as a a Physical & Chemical Lab Technician to test test their cellophane products and doing clerical work on the weekends with the Wabash Railroad. Frank turned down an appointment to the United States Postal Service and joined IBM in 1961. After several clerical and accounting jobs, Frank managed the accounting department until IBM closed the Greencastle facility. He the joined IBMs auditing department and retired as a financial advisor after 37 years of service to IBM. During the 26 years with IBM, civic duty was considered the most important to Frank. Frank served as President of the Greencastle Planning Commission for 5 years and was a member of the zoning board. He also was one of the founding members of the Putnam County Coin Club. As a member of the Heritage Preservation Society, Frank, Rebecca and their only son; John Edward Null, purchased the Charles Leuteke Home (built in 1893); known as the Lindenhurst. Frank and Rebecca have been restoring the home along with the Playhouse; which was built in 1876, roughly 20 years prior to the completion of the Lindenhurst home on Locust Street. Frank is survived by his wife Rebecca Leah Brothers Null, son John Edward Null & wife Julie Anne McAllen Null, and two granddaughters Kathleen Anne Null Bernauer & husband Nicholas Alan Bernauer and Alana Marie Null of Indianapolis. There are also several surviving cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bittles & Hurt with Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery. Jack Martin Romer was born in Greencastle, IN on a Monday, March 27, 2000. He was the only son to his mother and father, Martin and Colleen (Kellie) Romer. He was a 2018 graduate of Greencastle High School and 2022 magna cum laude graduate of Indiana University, Kelley School of Business. He was employed by Deloitte as a multi-state tax accountant and consultant in Charlotte, North Carolina. His goal was to obtain his CPA by age 25. Jack was incredibly goal-oriented and passionate about his interests and academics. He liked to play hard and work hard. He loved learning new things, school, animals, hiking, live music venues, comedy clubs, and his wonderful friends from Greencastle and IU. Jack is survived by his older sisters, Haylie and Corrie, whom he adored. His grandmother, Sandra Clay, with whom he shared a gift of gab and love for great food and dining out. His father, Marty, for whom he had a deep admiration and respect. His mother, Kellie, with whom he had a deep connection and was his first best friend. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Cletus Romer, his grandmother, Mary Romer, and his grandfather, Larry Clay. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a. m. on Monday, Nov. 6th at St. Paul's Catholic Church narthex in Greencastle. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a. m. with the Catholic Rite of Committal at Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
