Luke A. Palermo, 88, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and resident of Slidell, since 1972, and Holy Cross High School, Class of 1955 graduate, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Slidell. Luke was an avid LSU fan, loved to snow ski with his family and friends, was always ready to go fishing and enjoyed Santa on the Bayou, as a member of the Palm Lake Anglers Club. Luke was born November 7, 1934, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Luke and Catherine Palermo. In 1978 he married Patti Archer in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive Jeannette Hood; and a brother, Raymond Palermo. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patti A. Palermo; six children, L. Michael Palermo (Julie), Peggy Lynn Price (Roy "Dutch"), David Matthew Palermo (Monique), Mark Thomas Palermo (Lisa), Christopher John Palermo (Vicki Lynn), Cindy Palermo (fiance Gary Picou); nine grandchildren, Michelle Harris (Jason), Adam Troyer (Diana), Catie Gonzales (Rob), Amanda Jones (Isaac), Matthew Perret (fiance Shanna), Robert Troyer (Amanda), Ava Palermo, Aja Palermo, Gabriel Palermo; nine great-grandchildren, Emma Harris, Jackson Harris, Mahayla Colson, Griffyn Troyer, Rowan Troyer, Pierson Troyer, Evelyn Harris, Silas Troyer, Myles Troyer; a sister, Jane Cope; sister in law, Hazel Palermo and niece, godchild, Angel Gaines (John) nephew, Robert Cope (Rachelle) niece, Kelly Coburn (Ed) and numerous other relatives. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes, 400 Westchester Blvd, Slidell LA 70458, on Monday, October 9, 2023. Friends may visit at the church beginning at 10:00am. The funeral mass will begin at 11:00am. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell immediately following services. Darilyn Ann Cuyler, passed away at her residence, with her husband by her side during the evening of November 26, 2023, at the age of 72. She peacefully released after a difficult battle with Lewy Body Dementia. For the duration of her illness, she was loved and supported by her close friends, family, and the numerous caregivers that stood by her side. During this experience we have been very touched by the generosity of everyone who has lent a helping hand. For that we will be forever grateful. She was the first born to the late Joseph and Dorothy Riehlmann in Lakeview where she would spend her formative years. Darilyn would go on to attend LSU where she met her loving and devoted husband Brian. They lived a wonderful life together, sharing over 50 years of marriage. They spent many years traveling and enjoying each other before settling down to start a family in Slidell. Darilyn was an avid reader staying up late most nights working on reading her latest novel. She believed in exercising daily but loved to cap off the day with a nice glass of wine and a bite of chocolate. Darilyn attended Sunday morning masses at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church followed by afternoons in City Park and family dinners. She loved fashion and interior design spending her later years managing a friend's boutique shop. She spent most Saturdays watching her beloved LSU Tigers, a passion that she passed along to her children. Most of all Darilyn was happiest spending time with family and the countless friends she made along her way in life. She is survived by her husband Brian, daughter Lauren, son Kevin (Erin), grandsons George and Arthur, siblings Joe (Mary), Liz (Eric), Mike (Ana), Rock (Janet). Darilyn was that warm voice on the other end of the phone you wanted to hear after a tough day. She had an ability to make everyone she met feel warm and better about themselves. An amazing wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, friend and so much more. She will be missed dearly by all those that were lucky enough to have known her. Services will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in New Orleans, LA on Thursday, December 7th, 2023. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with a mass to follow at noon. Merlena "Merle" Ann Kaupp Bealer passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children in Picayune, MS on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the age of 76. Merle was born December 10, 1946, in New Orleans, LA, to Merlin and Nancy Lavite Kaupp, and was a longtime resident of Slidell, LA, before moving to Picayune, MS. She co-owned Doug's Restaurant & Lounge and was a former member of Krewe of Bilge, Krewe of Flora (Queen of Flora II), Krewe of Selena, and Poor Man's Yacht Club. She loved her family and friends, fishing, bowling, gardening, Swedish weaving and water coloring with RLM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin Charles Kaupp, Sr. , and Nancy Ann Lavite, her brother, Merlin Charles Kaupp, Jr. (Ellen), and her sister Nancy Kaupp Turnage. Merle is survived by her children, John Allen Durham (Traci), Melissa Durham-Rowe (Richard), and Nancy Ann Durham; stepchildren, Paul Bealer (Paula Davis), Cindy Morel (Kelly), and Floyd Bealer Jr; Grandchildren, James "J. P. " Capps (Kelsey), Rowan Durham, Tabitha Moore, Rylee Durham, Jordyn Harper (DJ), Anissa Stafford (Jerry), Mason Rowe, Jacob Culpepper, Aiden Rowe, and 4 greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by step grandchildren: Adam Bealer, Zachary Bealer, Theodore Bealer, Saxon Bealer, Kelly Morel, Kylie Morel, and 5 step great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, David Turnage, Sr. ; nieces and nephews: Christopher Weysham, Scott Kaupp (Terri), Trisha Gautreaux (Donald), and Heather Fielder (Russ) and 2 great nephews, and 4 great nieces. Merle was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Naida B. Galloway, 91 years old, a lifelong resident of Slidell, LA, returned to her heavenly home on Friday, November 24, 2023, peacefully with family at her bedside. She is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Gibson L Galloway Sr, her parents Mary Ola and Herman Bourgeois and her in-laws Lucille H Galloway and David Levi Galloway. Naida was very active in her community. She was an active lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Slidell. She enjoyed her Sunday school class and taught Sunday School many years ago. She loved being a choir member for a while and volunteered for VBS many times. She also very much enjoyed working in the church nursery. She was a member of various other local organizations such as, Slidell Women's Civic Club, Red Hats, Sunshine Club (FBC), a local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, GOSH museum, and the 50 Year Club (SHS). Ms. Galloway worked in the St. Tammany Parish school system for 42 years beginning at Slidell Grammar School (presently Brock Elementary) in the library, Boyet Jr High and Little Oak Elementary in the main offices. After her retirement she took on a part time position with the Louisiana Travel Center on Interstate 59 to share her joy and knowledge of the area with many travelers. She was a very talented seamstress throughout her lifetime. She designed costumes for various Mardi Gras organizations, Slidell Little Theatre, local High School plays, and dance and drill teams. She choreographed routines for dance teams and theater groups. She enjoyed classical ballet and music and enjoyed the theater, as well. Ms. Galloway is survived by her sister Hillary Theriot and four children, Lynn Jester (Gary), Caron Knight (Steve), Gay Saucier (Rick) and Lee Galloway (Angela). She is also lovingly survived by a total of 28 nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren plus their spouses. Naida was most proud of her family and welcomed all their friends in as family as well. She was known and loved by many and will be missed immensely. Ethel Baio Lynch, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. Lynch, her son; James E. Lynch, and her parents; Ignatious T. Baio and Vera Jones Baio. Ethel is survived by her son Michael A. Lynch (Lynn), her daughter; Patricia Lynch Franklin (Danny), three granddaughters; Heather Lynch Richmond (Joshua), Shannon Lynch Maglaque (Alan), and Jennifer Franklin Gonzales (Gabriel). She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Rowan Richmond, Andrew Lynch Gonzales, and Harley Elizabeth Gonzales. Ethel was a loving and devoted wife of an Air Force officer. She and the children lived wherever her husband's military orders sent them including Bermuda, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Illinois, and Ohio. The family finally returned to Louisiana in 1975 and Ethel made Slidell her Home. She volunteered at Northshore Hospital for many years with her husband. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ethel enjoyed bowling and good game of horseshoes. She will be remembered as an amazingly strong woman with an indomitable will that sustained her through her 97 years.
