Luke Buchanan Obituary

"Luke Buchanan, age 87, of the Sunnyside Community, passed away Sunday morning at Four Oaks Healthcare Center in Jonesborough. Goldman Luke Buchanan was born June 27, 1935 in Blount County, Tennessee, a son of the late Fred Laban Buchanan and Margaret Alma Burns Buchanan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Buchanan. Luke was a faithful member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, where he was teacher of the Adult Sunday School Class. Luke enjoyed his family, his church family, farming, and trading. Survivors include his wife: Carol Buchanan; children: Rev. John Buchanan and wife, Erica, James Buchanan and wife, Susie, Angie Buchanan Tubbs and husband, Jimmy, Donna Buchanan Burns and husband, Robyn, and Rev. Dale Buchanan and wife, Teresa; one brother: Buddy Wayne Buchanan; grandchildren: Grace Ann Buchanan, Mercy Jo Buchanan, Carter Goldman Buchanan, Madeline Tubbs, Canaan Buchanan, Creed Goldman Buchanan, Jason (Joy) Buchanan, and Misty Buchanan (Matt) Caldwell; great-grandchildren: Chloe Buchanan, Joslyn Buchanan, and Hadleigh Caldwell. The family will receive friends from 3 - 7 p. m. on Friday, May 12th, at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, 91 Guy Brown Road, Chuckey, TN. The funeral service will follow at 7 o'clock Friday evening with the Rev. John Buchanan and James Buchanan officiating. Committal services will be 11 a. m. Saturday at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Those who wish to go in procession to the cemetery are asked to meet at Liberty FWB Church at 10 a. m. Saturday. Active pallbearers will be John Buchanan, James Buchanan, Jimmy Tubbs, Carter Buchanan, Tony Greer, Troy Kiser, Fred Ricker, Mark Harbin, and Dennis Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons, trustees, and members of the Adult Sunday School Class at Liberty FWB Church, especially Charlie G'Fellers, Johnny Broyles, Clay Brown, and his special neighbors of the Sunnyside Community. Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. "
