Lucille M. Daley,(nee Doberneck)Lucille was reunited for eternity with Bill, her husband of 62 years, on August 20, 2023. She was born on August 28, 1933, and grew up in Shorewood, WI, attending St. Robert's Grade School and Holy Angels Academy High School. She continued her education at Marquette University, and after graduation, became an elementary school teacher. As a story goes, while walking home from school in perhaps 3rd grade, she threw a snowball at her neighbor, Bill, and missed, but their lives were forever entwined. They married after college and settled in South Milwaukee. Together Lucille and Bill raised sons Terence (Terry) and Brian, and while Lucille stopped formally teaching, she tutored adults in math and English, both near home and in Milwaukee. While not a fan of camping, she sacrificed her comfort for Bill and (probably more likely) the boys, and together they spent a lot of time living out of a pop-up camper. The family moved to Menomonee Falls, and both parents supported their boys' school sporting events. Around that time, Lucille and Bill started cross-country skiing and bicycling as fun ways to stay active. They went on many Elderhostel tours and saw and learned a lot about our country and world. Later in life, Lucille volunteered at Good Shepherd Congregation making sleeping bags which were donated to homeless shelters. She is survived by her brother Ray (Ann - deceased) and was preceded in death by Bill, and her parents Alphonse and Frieda (Kopp). She is survived by sons Terry (Kathy) and Brian (Judy), granddaughters Anne (Michael), Mary, and Martha (Chris), and great-grandchildren Jocelyn, and Thaddeus (Teddy). Visitation will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC CHURCH, N88 W17658 Christman Road, Menomonee Falls, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, beginning at 9:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee. We support your wishes to ensure maximum safety and comfort by providing a dedicated section for distancing. Sophie Erickson

Sophie Erickson

Age - 100

December 6, 2023

Sophie Evelyn Erickson,(nee Woyak)On November 29, 2023, Sophie was met at heaven's gates with open arms by her husband, Lester Harlan, and their daughter, Sonja Ann. She passed after a busy week with her family for Thanksgiving and her great grandson's first birthday party. She was still on her game and sharing her opinions right up until the end. She let go as she had always said she wanted, peaceful and surrounded by those close to her, slipping away as she slept with their voices serenading her. She was born on June 6, 1923, to Elizabeth (Rozumialski) and Matthew Woyak in Galloway, Wisc. One of fifteen, she's preceded in death by her parents, half-siblings and siblings (Laura, Mary, Regina, Hatley, Damon, Harry, Stanley, Clara, Leo, Agnes, Leona, Bernice, Florance and James). Sophie married Lester on November 20, 1948, and together they leave a legacy built around family, faith, humor and music. Their love for their family and pride in each and every member had no bounds. She is loved and missed by five children: Paulette Ralston, Peter (Janet) Erickson, John (Grace) Erickson, Jeffrey (Denise) Erickson and Lisa (David) Chandre; nine grandchildren: Kristina Ralston, Paul-Michael (Debbie Hart) Ralston, Thomas Erickson, Zachary (Sabrina) Chandre, Veronica (Jake Neustedter) Chandre, Sonja (Zachary Dec) Chandre, Tahlia Erickson, Evangeline Chandre and Adam Erickson; four great-grandchildren: Harrison, Genevieve, David and Cade; and many beloved nieces, nephews, greats and friends. She considered it a wonderful blessing to have seen everyone at her 100th birthday party this past June. Sophie lived her life always looking forward, using what she learned from the past and sharing her stories of her youthful shenanigans and travel with her children and grandchildren. She was stubborn, funny, strong and faithful. She could have sewn, crocheted and knitted her way to China and back with all the wonderful gifts she made. Her smile, stories, guidance, love and, yes, stubbornness will truly be missed. Special thank you to Wilson Commons and St. Croix Hospice for their care and guidance. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at ST. MATTHEW CATHOLIC CHURCH 9303 S. Chicago Rd. Oak Creek from 9:30AM until time of Mass at 11:00AM.
