Eleanor J. Docter, 91, of Centerville, passed away, Monday, January 29, 2024 at Edinboro Manor. She was born on July 8, 1932 in Townville, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Lymon Fitch and Jessie Rodgers Fitch. She married Glenn Edwards who preceded her in death. She subsequently married William Docter who also preceded her in death. She was employed at the Riverside Inn in Cambridge Springs and in her free time she enjoyed baking, crocheting, flower gardening, and time with her dogs and family. She is survived by three daughters, Lois Howell and her husband Carl of Georgia, Marie Swisshelm and her companion Dennis of Centerville, Darlene Lake and her husband Lee of Guys Mills; four sons, Grant Edwards and his wife Brenda of Meadville, Art Edwards of Townville, Glenn Edwards and his companion Lisa Newberry of Centerville, Terry Edwards and his wife Robin of Centerville; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands; she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Aaron Wilson; a brother, Robert Smith; and four sisters, Dorothy Caldwell, Naomi Rodgers, Ruth Drake, and Bessie Heath. Family and friends are welcome to call on Saturday, February 3rd from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 N. Main Street, Townville. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Gary M. Wade, officiating. Private burial will take place at East Troy Cemetery. Margaretta Kathleen Burnheimer (née Jones), age 74, passed away on January 24, 2024, at Edinboro Manor in Edinboro, PA, after a long debilitating battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Kathy was born July 7, 1949, in Meadville, PA to Morris V. Jones and Donis W. Mobley Jones. She married Ronald Burnheimer in 1967 and relocated to Phoenixville, PA.Kathy lived in the Norristown/Pottstown area for most of her life. She worked in administration and contracts for Aetna for 25 years and was a member of the Cedarville United Methodist Church in Cedarville, PA. She was a loving mother and grandmother, affectionately known as ‘Nonny’ to her grandchildren, to whom she never missed sending birthday and holiday cards, as well as notes here and there letting them know how she cared for them. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and her hobbies were reading, learning about outer space and many other topics, sewing, quilting and embroidery, and observing and being in nature for walks and hikes in earlier times.Kathy was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Jones in January 1972, her sister Karen (Hargett) Cooley in October 1972, her infant son Jeffrey Alan in January 1976, her parents in 2003, her grand-niece Amanda Hughes in 2005, and her sister Janice Tangeman in October 2022.Survivors include three sons, David Burnheimer (Stephanie), Daniel Burnheimer (Adrienne), and Andrew Burnheimer (Lauren), six grandchildren, Ethan, Allison, Ava, Josh, Charlie, and Jack, three nieces Donna Gray, Diane Papavero (Paul), and Sharon Hughes, and three nephews Dillon Gray, Michael Jones (Michellee), and Steven Jones (Dody).Condolences and memories can be shared at www.hatheway-tedesco.com. David L. Moraski, 58 of Edinboro, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at his home. He was born May 15, 1965 in Anchorage, Alaska, the son of Thomas and Sandy Moraski.David graduated from General McLane High School in 1983 and earned an associate degree from Triangle Tech. He was currently employed as an inspector for PennDOT, where he worked for 20 years.He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a proud member of the NRA. He also loved to garden and landscape around the house. He was always proud of his wonderful garden and the delicious veggies we all enjoyed. He enjoyed collecting coins and giving them out to his nieces and nephews. He was a hard worker, sometimes putting in 6 or 7 days per week on the job. Nathan was a caring and loving father. He is survived by his mother and step father, Melanie R. Stolz and Richard L. Williams of Edinboro, and his son, Wyatt Jasper Stolz at home. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Eric Paul Stolz, and an aunt and uncle, Sharon and Tim Curran. There will be no viewing. Visitation will be held at the Fairview Bible Church, 6100 Avonia Rd, Fairview, PA, on Friday, November 18th, 2016 from 6:00PM to 7:00PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 8:00PM. Barbara Jean (White) Russell Barbara Jean (White) Russell, age 78, of Edinboro, PA, passed away on July 24th, 2023, while surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born in Warren County, PA on November 13th, 1944. Barbara was the daughter of the late Ruben & Mary Jane (Allen) White. Barbara loved her family, cooking, baking, and spending time with her beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved playing cards and getting her nails and hair done by her grandchildren. Barbara worked for Edinboro Manor for 18 years and enjoyed every minute of helping the residents and making them feel like family. She is survived by her brother, Roger White; her sister, Carol Steffey; her children, Candy Bingham and her husband Mike, and their children Amanda and Danielle; Her son, James Russell Jr. and Victoria Stempka, and his children Jessica, Tiffany, James, and Jeannie; her step children, Robin Billings, Charlotte Barto, Janice Litz, Howard Burkett, John Burkett, Everett Burkett and Tina Litz, and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Russell Sr.; her brothers, Gary White and Daryl White; her sister, Ida White; her daughters, Brenda Russell and Penny Russell, and her son, James Russell. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and talented antique restorer. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John. He is survived by the love of his life, Veronica "Roni" Smith; a daughter, Mary Kathleen "Kate" Smith Connor; and his in-laws. The family is grateful to the VA Hospital for their care and concern. Linda M. Ackerman, 74 of Edinboro, died Sunday, October 15, 2023 at home. She was born in Warren, PA on November 5, 1948, the daughter of the late Dwight and Catherine Carlson. Linda attended Warren Area High School. She held various jobs throughout her life, but most recently worked in home health care as a caregiver before her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, going to the casino and bingo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Ackerman in 2014; and a son, Lawrence Ackerman. Linda is survived by her sons, Ronald Ackerman, Jr. and Martin Ackerman; a daughter, Melinda (David) Furry; a brother, Jeffrey Carlson; four sisters, Frances (Patrick) Grover, Helen (Tim) Remsburg, Sabrina (Dennis) Bosselman and Tammy Cacek; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Katie. The family also extends their love and deep appreciation to her caregiver, Ashley Brown, for her compassion and care in Linda’s final days. No calling hours will be observed. Carolyn Thelma Hazlewood went home to be with the Lord July 30, 2023. She passed peacefully at her home in Arizona with family nearby. Carolyn was born April 26, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Alexander and Thelma (Aston) Haynos. She grew up in Beadling and graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1954 where she was active in multiple student associations, most notably as a majorette. She graduated from Robert Morris Business School. She began her career at Kopper’s Company where she also served as a model for products. She spent 25 years at Edinboro University, including as executive assistant to the University President. She continued her education during her career at Edinboro, notably being named to the Dean’s List multiple semesters. Carolyn cherished raising her family in Edinboro and was active in the community as a congregant at Our Lady of the Lake Church, a member of the Edinboro Town & Country Garden Club, Edinboro University Women's Lunch Brunch, and the Erie Bridge Association. She and her husband Steve were married in 1957 and were blessed with 5 children and 6 grandchildren. She and Steve enjoyed an active retirement during which she pursued many passions: tennis, golf, gardening, reading, bridge, mahjong, and extensive travel including multiple overseas destinations. They relished their "snow bird" home in Mesa, AZ and moved to Arizona full time in 2016. Above all, Carolyn was devoted to her family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family playing games, exploring, laughing, and reminiscing. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Steve. She is survived by her children Laurel (Tom) McCulloh of Ardmore, OK, Lisa (Jeff) Greig of Willoughby, OH, Stephen Hazlewood of Mesa, AZ, Leslie (Jim Cardman) Hazlewood of Fairview, PA, and Scott Hazlewood of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brandon Hooven, Caroline Foster, Colin & Lucy Greig, and Stephanie & Alex Hazlewood. She is also survived by sisters Marce Doerfler and Susan Haynos. Among her greatest joys in life is that all of her children and grandchildren earned college degrees (and beyond). Burial of ashes were in Edinboro Cemetery on October 7, 2023. It is with sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Mary A. Wray. Mary was born in Union City on February 10, 1950 to Dortha Iona and Charles Scott McLallen. She graduated from General McLane High School in 1968 and went on to earn a BS in Elementary and Special Education from Edinboro State College. Mary will always be remembered for her greatest attribute, her care and compassion while placing the lives of others above her own. She selflessly dedicated her life to saving others through emergency services as an original employee of EmergyCare, Inc. , where she retired from in 2015. She was a lifetime member of the Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department, and a founding member of the Central Erie County Paramedic Association. Dedicated to developing future generations, Mary spent many years as a 4-H leader and horse show mom. Most recently, Mary found joy in sharing time with her grandchildren, reading, and spending time with her dogs, Karma and Willie, who passed away along with her. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brothers, James and Robert, and sister, Barbara McLallen Kerstetter. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, James Wray, whom she married on June 15, 1990. She is also survived by her sisters, Francy McLallen (and family) and Sandy McLallen Weaver (John and family). Mary leaves behind her children, DJ Skelton (Kelly) and Devon Mellin (Garrett), and stepchildren, Trisha (Daryl) Parker and family, and Brian Wray and family. Her grandchildren, who provided her with much pride and joy include Broc, Addyson, and Harper Mellin, and Libby and Meghan Gillette. In addition, Mary leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Vernie was a graduate of Academy High School in Erie. Other than being a wonderful loving mother to her 5 children, Vernie worked at General McLane High School in the cafeteria and also cleaning in the evenings. Vernie had a wonderful faith in God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved cooking, crafts, yard sailing and especially gardening. She was preceded in death by a son, James Smith in September, 2020. Survivors include her 3 sons, Wayne (Valerie) Smith of Saegertown, Dan (Gail) Smith of Waterford, and Fred (Rachel) Smith of Conneaut, Ohio; a daughter, Beverly Gardner of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Jessica and Allan Smith; and a great-grandson, Jackson.
