Loyd Eugene Linger, 78, of Horner passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born on October 12, 1940 in Georgetown a son of the late Stanley Eugene Snyder and Madge Linger Anderson. Loyd was the grandson of Worth and Molly Linger who happily took on the responsibility of raising him. On March 8, 1970 he married the love of his life, Sharon Clark and she will forever treasure their 49 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Sharon Linger, Loyd is survived by five children: Kenneth Eugene Linger and wife, Katrina, of Richmond Hill, GA, Phyllis Jean Dean of Buckhannon, Sammy Joe Linger and wife, Kim, of Hope Hull, AL, Jacquelyn Spino and husband, Bill, of Grafton, and Loyd Linger II of Buckhannon; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, James Anderson and wife, Mary, of Fairmont; and one uncle, Ed Linger of Buckhannon. Preceding Loyd in death were his parents; grandparents; one grandson, Nathan Bowyer; two brothers: Paul and Wayne Anderson; and one sister, Loretta Arnette. Loyd graduated in the 1958 class of Weston High School. He was a hard working husband and father who provided for his family as a lineman for Allegheny/Mon Power for over 36 years. He was also a big-hearted man who served his country and fellow Americans in the Army National Guard for many years. He continued his service to others as the Past President of the David E. Harris Recreation Center in Georgetown. A Christian by faith, Loyd attended the Georgetown Community Church. Loyd's request for cremation has been honored. Family and friends will gather at the Georgetown Community Church located at 1971 Little Skin Creek Rd. in Horner from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday with Brother Jeff Cochran officiating. Following the service a dinner will be held at the Georgetown Community Building. A Private Inurnment will be held at a later date.
