Barry Green

Age - 75

December 5, 2023

Barry Leon Green, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, departed from this world on December 2, 2023, in Millington, MI, at the age of 75. Born on April 12, 1948, in Dudley, Missouri, Barry's life was a testament to the values of family, dedication, and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Barry's journey began as the beloved son of Joseph and Veronica Green. He grew up in a nurturing environment alongside his brother, Larry Joe, who preceded him in death. The foundation of love and family he experienced in his early years became the cornerstone of his own life as he built his family with the love of his life, June Lipka. Barry and June united in marriage on a winter's day, December 9, 1967, in Rochester, MI, and together they created a legacy of love and commitment. The proud father of two daughters, Donna (Brian) Stambaugh, and Carol (David) Stambaugh, Barry instilled in his family the importance of togetherness and support. The joy of his life multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas (Airen), Lindsay, and Emily, whom he adored and cherished with every fiber of his being. Barry's role as a family man extended to his many nephews and nieces, who found in him a kind and guiding presence. Barry's professional life was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic. However, it was outside the workplace that Barry truly found his bliss. An avid outdoorsman, he relished in camping and fishing on his boat. He was also an excellent softball pitcher, a sport he played with passion along with his family. Above all, Barry was a family man. His love for his grandchildren was unparalleled, and he often said that all he needed in this world was his family. This sentiment was the hallmark of his life, a life lived with kindness, intelligence, and a handy touch that could fix anything that needed mending. Barry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the warm embrace of a life well-lived. His kind spirit, intelligent mind, and capable hands will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Barry Leon Green, we celebrate a life that was filled with the richness of family, the joy of the outdoors, and the love that binds us all together. Samuel Crites

Samuel Crites

Age - 62

December 2, 2023

Samuel Joseph Crites, known affectionately by all as Sam, embarked on his final adventure on November 14, 2023, at the age of 62. Born on April 7, 1961, in the heart of Carson City, Michigan, Sam's journey began as a spark that would ignite a lifetime of creativity, love, and an unquenchable spirit for life. Sam was a man who lived by the simple creed that every day was an opportunity to make a difference. As a "Tree Doctor" he not only nurtured the environment but also the hearts of those he met. His hands, always willing to work the soil or mend what was broken, were a testament to his dedication to the craft he so loved. His life was a rich tapestry woven with the vibrant threads of his interests. Sam was a tinkerer at heart, his mind and hands never idle, always fixing, always collecting--a bit of everything. His passion for nature was evident to all, as he found solace in the whispering trees and the silent wisdom of the great outdoors. Sam's adventurous spirit led him to explore the farthest reaches of imagination and possibility. He was spirited in every endeavor, his energy infectious, inspiring those around him to seek their own adventures in the everyday. His creativity was a wellspring that never ran dry, fueling innovations in his work and play, and leaving a trail of inspiration in his wake. Family was the cornerstone of Sam's world. He was a loving father to Tiarra Welch, Quinn Welch, Katrina DeGroft, Daniel Silvernail, and Karana Maxwell. His role as a grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren was one he cherished with every fiber of his being. Sam's siblings, Levi Halliwill, Marla Blumberg, Millie Nolan, Lynn Kline, and Rhonda Driscoll, shared in the tapestry of his life, each a unique thread in the beautiful weave of his existence. Sam's journey was shaped by the memory of those who preceded him in passing, his parents LeRoy Mettert and Eleanor Thrush, and his brother James Halliwill. Their spirit and love were his guiding stars, leading him through life's ebbs and flows. To speak of Sam is to speak of a life lived with gusto and an unyielding zest. He was a beacon of light in a world that often needs reminding of the beauty in the mundane, the potential in the overlooked, and the adventure in the everyday. His story is not one of sorrow but of celebration--a celebration of a life that was lived fully, fearlessly, and with a heart wide open to the wonders of the world. As we honor the memory of Samuel Joseph Crites, let us carry forward the torch of his spirit. Let us be adventurous in our pursuits, spirited in our joys, and creative in our solutions. In doing so, we keep alive the essence of a man who was, in every sense, a true force of nature. Sam's legacy is not etched in stone but written in the hearts of those he touched. It is carried on the breeze, through the rustling leaves, and in the laughter of children at play. His story is a reminder to us all to live with passion, to cherish our connections, and to always reach for the light, even when the path is unclear. Today, we do not say goodbye to Sam; we say thank you. Thank you for the laughter, the lessons, and the love. Your journey continues within us, and like the mighty trees you cared for, your roots run deep in our souls. Rest well, Sam, until we meet again on the grandest adventure of them all. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Sam's Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Sam may be made to Quinn and Tiarra Welch. Jason White

Jason White

Age - 47

November 15, 2023

Jason Jon White, a man who loved the outdoors almost as much as he loved a cold beer, was born on October 26, 1976, in Flint, Michigan. He lived his life with the kind of passion and humor that could light up even the darkest of Michigan winters. Jason passed away on November 5, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of joy, laughter and love. Jason was the kind of guy who could make you laugh until your sides hurt. He was a loving father to his sons, Kyle (Annette) and Aaron (Andrea), and a doting grandfather to Nola and Amelia. His mother, Char (George) Stheiner, and siblings Shannon, John (Shuree), Nancy (Chris), and Chris (Kristine), many nieces and nephews. They will remember him as the funny bone of their family. Jason was preceded in death by many loved ones. With such a love for the outdoors, Jason was as comfortable in the woods or out on the water as he was anywhere else. For Jason, there was nothing compared to being up north or behind the wheel of a boat surrounded by friends and family. He was a true captain both on the water and off. This was only to be rivaled by his strong love for cold beer and a hot grill. For those that knew him, some of the fondest memories will be of him behind the grill, cold beer in hand. Jason's love was fierce, and it was infectious. He was passionate about his family, family was everything, and he was always its protecter. He carried that passion with him in many aspects of life, and always lived it to the fullest. He had a way of turning the most mundane tasks into a good time. It didn't matter where you were, or what the situation, Jason had a crude joke at the ready and a grin on his face. If you knew Jason, you knew the grin. Laughter followed him like a shadow and everyone he's ever graced is better off for it. So here's to you, Jason. May your beer always be cold, your grill always be hot, and your laughter and love echo in our hearts forever. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Jason's life will be held 2:00 PM till 5:00 PM on Saturday December 9, 2023 at the Columbiaville Community Center. Mikel Ardrey

Mikel Ardrey

Age - 67

November 6, 2023

Mikel Joe Ardrey, a man who lived life with the much humor and wisdom took his final breath on November 5, 2023. Born on April 1, 1956, in Columbia, MO, he always claimed that being born on April Fool's Day was the reason for his innate sense of humor. Mikel's journey ended in Marlette, MI, but his laughter and memories will echo in our hearts forever. Mikel was a man who found joy in the simple things. He was a loving father, a wise mentor, and a funny friend. He was the kind of guy who could turn a fishing trip into a comedy sketch, or an RC race into a hilarious commentary on life. He had a knack for making everyone around him smile, and he was never happier than when he was sharing a laugh with his family and friends. Mikel is survived by his son Shane (Jennifer) Ardrey, his sons by choice Rod Armstrong, Brett Hoisington, Jeremy Grahl, Christian Boisclair, and his grandchildren Kourtney, Promise, and Jesse (Julianna). Each of them inherited a piece of Mikel's infectious laughter and his love for life. He was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Beatrice Ardrey, and his beloved wife Karen, who we believe was waiting to greet him. If there was one thing Mikel loved more than a good laugh, it was a good gun. He was an avid gun enthusiast, and he could spend hours talking about his latest find or his favorite piece. He also loved fishing, a hobby that combined his love for nature with his love for storytelling. His fishing tales, often wildly exaggerated for comedic effect, will be sorely missed. Mikel Joe Ardrey was a man who lived life on his own terms, with a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. He was a loving father, a loyal friend, and a funny man who brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. His memory will live on, not in sadness, but in laughter and love.
