The funeral service for Lorin D. Steward, 87, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 3:00pm, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Richland Church, with Pastor Jason Dignan officiating. Burial at Richland Cemetery. Lorin died Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen. Visitation will be be one hour prior to the service. Lorin David Steward was born on May 3, 1936, to Douglas and Althia (Flint) Steward on a farm near Chelsea, SD. As a young child, he had scarlet fever, which resulted in him having epilepsy. He attended grade school at a rural school and graduated high school from Wessington Springs, SD. After attending a two year Junior College, he went to work on the farm, where he raised sheep. Lorin was given an award from the Conservation Office in Faulkton for his caring for the tree grove. He was a hard worker and enjoyed tinkering on small electrical items. His whole life, Lorin wrote letters to friends from high school. He was a friendly guy and was always thinking of others. He was appreciative for the kindness others gave him.

Albert Sidney Holloway Jr. , age 69, of Manning passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Funeral service is Monday, October 30, 2023, at 10:00 a. m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with graveside services at 3:00 p. m. in the Delano Cemetery near Cameron, Missouri. Visitation is from 3:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Albert Sidney Holloway, Jr. , son of Albert Sidney Sr. and Mary (Ferdig) Holloway, was born March 5, 1954, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Woodbury County where he began to do tree work with his father. The family then made their home in Taylor County. On October 19, 1972, Albert and Kathryn were united in marriage at Grant City, Missouri. A son Scotty was born to this couple. Albert continued to do tree work and lived throughout Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa, eventually settling in Manning. Later, Albert drove a semitruck. Albert enjoyed going to the casino, loving his grandchildren and spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Joe Holloway, Art Holloway, Ralph Holloway, John Holloway, and (infant brother) Virgil Holloway; niece Rebecca Whittley; and in-laws: Fred Kawik, Floyd Collins and Etta Poage. Albert is survived by his wife Kathryn Holloway of Manning, Iowa: son Scotty (Brandy) Holloway of Manning, Iowa: five grandchildren: Heaven Holloway, Albert Holloway III, Madison Westerberg, Kenzie Westerberg and Brian Bowen; two great-grandchildren Braxton Schulte and Scotty Holloway II; siblings: Marie (Glen) Vestal of Manning, Iowa; Viola Welch of Independence, Kansas; Lily Buck of Manning, Iowa; Richard (Nancy) Frederickson of Sioux City, Iowa; Irvin (Dennice) Holloway of Carroll, Iowa; Virgil (Reva) Holloway of Nixa, Missouri; sister-in-law Peggy Holloway of Atlantic, Iowa; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, Iowa with Reverend Darrel Mohler, Officiating. Recorded Music Selections "Jacob’s Ladder" by Mark Wills, "Watching Scotty Grow" by Bobbie Goldsberg, "If Jesus Comes Tomorrow" by Owen Mack, "Dance With My Father" Luther Vandross. The memorial service for Meta E. (Kaaz) Vetter, 98, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 11:00am, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jim Holthus officiating. Inurnment will be at 2:00pm, at Green Mound Cemetery, Leola, SD. Meta died Friday, December 1, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements by Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street. Meta E. Zantow was born on October 12, 1925, at Leola, SD, to Julius and Ida (Gaul) Zantow. She attended rural school for eight years in the Leola area and later obtained her GED. Meta was united in marriage to Edwin Kaaz on February 21, 1944. Through this marriage, five children were born: Shirley, Allen, Ronald, Norma and Myra. After moving several times, they settled in Leola, SD, where Meta worked as a waitress, babysitter and cleaned homes until moving to Aberdeen in 1971. She was employed by Control Data until her retirement in 1986. Edwin passed away in April of 1980. On May 23, 1986, Meta married Pius Vetter. Together they enjoyed gardening, traveling and dancing. Pius passed away in September of 2022. Meta was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Aberdeen. She was also a member of the VFW, Moose Lodge and the Eagles. Her hobbies included sewing (making quilts for each of her children and quillows for the grandchildren); crocheting doilies and wall hangings; gardening, ceramics and coloring. Meta received several purple ribbons for her work. Grateful for having shared Meta's life are her children: Shirley Albrecht, Ronald (Carla) Kaaz, Norma (Jim) Miller, and Myra (Elmo) Feiock; one sister, Elsie McBride; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild to be announced; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Meta in death are her parents, Julius and Ida; both husbands, Edwin Kaaz and Pius Vetter; her son Allen Kaaz; brothers: Paul, Adolph, William, Fred, Rudolph, and Emil; and her sisters: Louise, Mary, Margret, and Lorena.Show more
