Ronald Earl Brown, 75, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home just one week after being diagnosed with cancer. He was a talented musician who played guitar, banjo, steel guitar and sang in bands (Gold Rush) throughout eastern North Carolina. He loved the old hymns and old country music. He served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked 30 years at Parker Hannifin Corp, Wake Forest, NC. He loved the simple things in life and one of his favorite sayings was "the blessing is in the giving." He is survived by his loving partner of 10 years, Diane Gott, his daughter, Lyn Hammonds (husband, James), sister, Wanda Flowers (husband Doug), nephew Jerry Flowers, (wife, Ashley), niece Courtney Brockbrader (husband Billy). Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, March 9, at Noon located at Ebenezer Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 6020 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh, NC 27610. Sarah Ann Mellor, age 80, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024. Sarah Ann, “Sally” Mellor, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 surrounded by her family. Sally was born on September 10, 1943, in Williamsburg, Virginia, the daughter of Martin and Sarah Hess. She grew up in Moorestown, NJ where she fell in love and married David, her husband of 60 years. Together they raised 6 children. Throughout her life, Sally maintained a sweet and simple presence that gathered the trust and hearts of many. A passionate teacher, her kind demeanor will continue to nurture love and faith in others. Having the heart of a true servant, Sally selflessly cared for many friends and family throughout the years. Much joy came to her through serving others. She was a strong woman of faith—a true example of Christlike love, allowing grace and welcoming the hand of friendship to all who crossed her path. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her daughter, Amy. She is survived by her husband, David, her son Jon (Tina), daughters Dawn (Llorrac), Nancy (Max), Jeni (Timmy), Sara (James) as well as 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Margaret Johnson and Bill Hess as well as nieces and nephews. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many family and friends. Funeral services will be held on March 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5060 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609. Graveside service to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park located at 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC, 27612. Brown-Wynne Funeral Home of Raleigh will be handling arrangements. Ruby Reynolds Knight, 95, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 28, 2024, at the Cardinal North Hills in Raleigh, NC. She is survived by son Robert N. Knight, Jr., of Farmington, IL, and daughter Kathryn Knight of Hampton, VA. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Norman Knight, in 2002. Ruby’s siblings, Frances Owens and Thorne Reynolds also preceded her in death. Ruby lived an active and successful life in many spheres. Between 1952 and 1983, she filled multiple roles as a Methodist minister’s spouse, from directing choirs to playing organ for church services. During this period, she also taught piano to scores of young people in various communities. Later in life, she entered the business world as an accountant, eventually rising to the position of comptroller with a Raleigh-based business. Ruby continued to work well into her mid-80s, living a full and independent life. A burial service will be conducted at Oakwood Cemetery in Columbia, NC, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Friends and family are welcome. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Bryan Funeral Service in Columbia. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Wake County Hospice or to the hospice service in your locality. Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia.

Cynthia P. Vincent, 72, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on February 21st, 2024. Cynthia P. Vincent was born on May 29th, 1951, to Edmund and Jennie Peterson in Jennings, Louisiana. She graduated as the valedictorian of her class from Jefferson Davis High School in 1969 and pursued further education in business accounting at Southern University, an Historically Black College and University (HBCU), in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in accounting in 1973. After obtaining her degree in accounting, Cynthia started her first job at Met Ed as an accountant, kickstarting a 25 year career in accounting. In 1980, Cynthia sparked a romance with James Vincent, whom she had met in Reading, Pennsylvania. They saw each other after a party at the Christmas Parade, and later that evening, they met up and danced the night away. Their reconnection blossomed into a deep and enduring love. Cynthia married James Vincent on July 3rd, 1982, in Jennings, Louisiana. They were happily married for 41 years. Relocating with her family to North Carolina in 1985, Cynthia continued her career and eventually retired in 2012 from the North Carolina State Comptrollers Office in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was a devoted member of Gethsemane SDA Church for many years. Her faithful service led her to teach Sabbath School and served as head treasurer, and was president of the Women of Strength club. Cynthia Vincent is survived by her spouse, James Vincent, and her children: Kelsha Wright (Timothy), Joshua Vincent (Kristen), and Jonah Vincent (Janza), as well as her cherished granddaughter, Jalia Vincent. She is also survived by her brothers Granville Peterson (Brenda), Marcus Peterson (Susan), Lloyd Peterson (Annie), sister Francis Peterson, special niece Darcel Dartez, sister-in-law Soaries Peterson, and a host of nieces and nephews. Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Peterson, father, Edmund Peterson, brother Kirby Peterson, and sisters Sheila Jones and Linda Woods. Services honoring Cynthia's life will be held at Gethsemane SDA Church, 2525 Sanderford Rd, on February 29th, 2024, at 1 pm, followed by a repass from 2 pm to 5 pm. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to R. M. Ferguson Funeral Home. “Though her presence may no longer grace our lives, Cynthia's love and legacy will forever endure in our hearts.” The Vincent & Peterson Family
