Lola Mae "Logy" Stirewalt Fryer, 96, of Mooresville, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023. She was born August 21, 1927, in Rowan County, to the late Florence Mary Anna Weaver Stirewalt and Harvey Leonard Stirewalt. Mrs. Fryer was a 1944 Graduate of Rockwell High School and was employed with Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, Oestreichers in Salisbury, and Troutman Shirt Factory in Mooresville before becoming a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Organ Lutheran Church in Salisbury. Mrs. Fryer was a terrific seamstress, baker, and cook who was known for her chocolate pound cake, cinnamon rolls, and fried apple pies. She dearly loved her family and loved anything purple, Cheerwine, and sweets-especially chocolate. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fryer was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Ray Fryer; and her siblings, Brandt Stirewalt, Zena Kesler, twin Jay Stirewalt, and Vida Stirewalt. She is survived by her daughters, Tana Poole and husband, Bob, of Denver, NC and Rita Thompson of Mooresville; grandchildren, Cara Dunn and husband, Matt, Greg Poole, and Jordan Poole and fiance, Dez; great-grandchildren, Cael and Louden Dunn; and her loving nephew, R. C. Kesler. The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, October 9, from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Organ Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Monday, at the church, with the Rev. Tonya Brittain officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to their "Super Woman" Donna Simpson who lovingly cared for Ray and Lola over the last six years, to Lisa Lineberger and Princess, and to special friends, Larry and Shelba Kepley, for their years of devoted friendship. John Charles Spidell (81) of Salisbury, NC passed away on November 30, 2023 in the presence of family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on May 7, 1942 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. John is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, whom he married in 1962 in St. Petersburg, FL. They were high school sweethearts of Northeast High School class of 1960. Go Vikings! In addition to his wife,John is survived by two daughters, Sondra Merrifield of Rockwell, and Robin Bodan, of Salisbury, six grandchildren, Megan S. Beaver (Jonathan), Lauren Merrifield, Rachel Selbe, Jared Spidell, Jacob Bodan and Carley Bodan, along with three great-grandsons and three great- granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julia Harnisch Spidell and his younger brother, James Robert "Jimmy" Spidell. John devoted his career to over 30 years in law enforcement, including the St. Petersburg Police Department, the US Border Patrol and finally a federal agent with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) from which he retired. His family returned to Salisbury after his retirement in 1992, after being stationed here with the ATF in the 1970's. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and Nascar. He was a proud member of the O. F. C. He will be deeply missed. The family will be holding a celebration of life in the Spring to honor John. Mildred Louise Fite McGuire, 86, of Rockwell, NC passed away October, 9,2023 at Clemmons Village in Clemmons, North Carolina. Louise was born on May 22nd, 1937 in Rowan County to the late Quincy Abernathy Fite Sr. and Martha Mae Goodman Fite. She grew up in Kannapolis, NC with 4 sisters and 2 brothers, and settled close by with her husband, Blake after they married on March 31, 1956. They raised two loving sons and she retired after a long career with Fieldcrest Mills in Kannapolis. Louise was of the Baptist faith and attended Brookdale Baptist Church. "Mamaw," as she was affectionately known, loved her grandchildren and delighted in them and all they were doing in life. She was a "go-getter" who kept a meticulous home and enjoyed yard work, growing things, and working around their house. Louise had a particular need to help others and was always finding kind ways to do so. She loved her family fiercely, had a generous spirit, an infectious laugh, loved to dance, and was known for her red velvet pound cakes that were present at most family gatherings. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Blake McGuire, Sr. , and siblings, Glady Fite Benfield, Peggy Fite Medlin, Doris Fite Goodman, Carl Fite, and Quincy "Buck" Fite Jr. Louise is survived by her sons, B. B. McGuire Jr, and wife Jan of Eden NC, Todd McGuire and wife Krista of Cornelius NC, and 4 grandchildren: Mary McGuire, Sarah McGuire, William McGuire, and Grace McGuire. She also leaves a sister, Pat Blackmon and her family, a cherished nephew, Tim Goodman, and cousin, Carla Smith, and other special cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family. Louise Rachel Linker "Lois" Misenheimer of Rockwell passed away at home on October 7, 2023, at the impressive age of 98. She was born July 26, 1925, in Rowan County, to the late Claude and Ethel Hartsell Linker. Mrs. Misenheimer attended Kluttz School. She began her career working with Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, later becoming a beautician. She owned & operated a cafe with her late husband in Rockwell for many years, specializing in NC barbeque. Cooking was in her bones, and she was known for showing her love for others through food throughout her life. After the cafe closed, she went on to work and retire from Fiber Industries, where she was a Lab Analyst. Never one to sit still for long, she went on to work at the Granite Knitwear Outlet Store, where she retired a second time in the early 2000s. She was a devoted Christ-follower and longtime member of Ursinus United Church of Christ in Rockwell, where she was active within many of the church's women's groups. Mrs. Misenheimer enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking (especially baking) and reading. She loved spending time with family, cooking family dinners every Sunday after church, and hosting every holiday at her home in Rockwell. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest delight. She was the matriarch of her family, a role model, and a brilliant example of unconditional love. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Theodore Misenheimer; daughter, Joyce Misenheimer Smart; sisters, Grace Brown and Frances Goodman; and great-granddaughter, Haysley Rilee Abernethy. Mrs. Misenheimer is survived by her children, Charles Michael Misenheimer and wife, Barbara, of Mooresville, Rachel Misenheimer Lapham of Granite Quarry, and Patty Misenheimer Dunn and husband, Dowd, of Rockwell; sister, Oneita Bruce of Rockwell; grandchildren Charles Misenheimer of Osage Beach, MO, Chrissy Misenheimer of Mooresville, Shannon Torello of Wilmington, Roderick Lapham, Jr. of Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, NM, Cameron Lapham of Granite Quarry, Amanda Reid of Sumter, SC, and Kaitlyn Abernethy of Rockwell; great-grandchildren Kylie Hammerich, Colin Misenheimer, Nathan Zabinski, Savannah Broome, Levi Lapham, Brayden Lapham, Maverick Reid, Aria Reid, Elena Bridges, Tatum Abernethy and Rylee Abernethy. The family invites you to celebrate Mrs. Misenheimer's life at Ursinus United Church of Christ, 116 W. Main Street, Rockwell, NC on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Visitation & meeting with the family will begin at 11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place in Brookhill Memorial Gardens following the service.
