Lola Isabel Calvin, 86, of Winfield, KS passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 at William Newton Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Winfield, interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, donations may be left in the care of the funeral home. Lola was born on October 19, 1936 in Hutchinson, KS to parents James and Nellie (Irving) Duncan. She graduated from South Hutchinson, KS High School and attended Sterling College to earn a lab technician degree. She worked at William Newton Memorial Hospital for over 30 years as a lab tech. On September 11, 1958 Lola was united in marriage to Jerrold R. Calvin, he preceded her in death in 2002. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, stamping, going to her grandkids' sporting events, watching college basketball, she was a loyal KC Royals and Chiefs fan, and was an active member of the First Baptist Church. Lola loved her family, and she loved God and always put Him first in her life. She is survived by her children Cassandra McClure, and Tom Calvin (Dianna), grandchildren Breeanna McSpadden (Brian), Brant Calvin (Kyrsten), Garrett Calvin (Meg), Cheyenne Hill (Jake), and John Hill, great-grandchildren Emrey, Jack, Henley, Owen, Charlotte, and Delaney, and step-great-grandchildren Paxton and Paisley. Lola is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister LaVada Yorgenson, and son-in-law Todd Gritzmaker.

Cinda Sue Adams, 76, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Winfield Rest Haven. Born June 1, 1947, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Clarence and Maxine (Gurnee) Widener. She was raised and received her education in Winfield. In 1972, she met and married her soulmate Boyd Adams in Springfield, Missouri. The couple made their home in Winfield, where Cinda was a dedicated mother and homemaker. In addition to spending time with her kids and grandchildren, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and going to thrift stores and yard sales. Her family includes her sons, Chris Adams and wife, Sandy of Arkansas City; Johnnie Adams and companion, Elizabeth Amezcua of Winfield; Travis Adams and companion, Kristi Bauler of Winfield; her brothers, Jeff Widener, Lennie Widener, and Ricky Widener all of Winfield; her sister Connie Brooks of South Dakota; her grandchildren, Brandi Adams, Dallas Adams, Corey Adams and wife Kelly, Skylar Adams and wife, Destiny, Laiken Adams, Jalissa Amezcua, Damian Scott and wife Carly, Jayden Adams, Antonio Adams, Cody Chandler, and Brianna Adams; her great grandchildren, Shelbie, Aspen, Khloe, Braxton, Emma, Laniah, and Marcel; and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Cinda was preceded in death by her soulmate Boyd Adams, five siblings, Larry Widener, Terry Widener, Leroy Widener, Cody Widener, and Kelly Sanders, and a daughter-in-law Lupe Adams. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. , Friday, December 8, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 8 P. M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening. Jeffrey Dale Laymon, 66, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 29, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 13, 1957, in Tulare, California, he was the son of Jonathan and Walsie Mae (James) Laymon. His family moved to Gore, Oklahoma in 1963. Jeff graduated from Gore High School in 1975. In the mid 80's, Jeff moved his family to Kansas, where he worked at Coleman for over 22 years, leaving in 2008. He then went to work at BG Products, where he spent 13 years, retiring as the Facilities Maintenance Lead on February 28, 2023. Jeff was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #110 in Winfield for 26 years. He was a workaholic and self taught diesel mechanic. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Jeff's family includes his wife Diana of Winfield; his son Fred (Liz) Laymon of Eufaula, OK; his daughters, Vanessa Thomason of Vian, OK; Nikki Barnum of Colorado Springs, CO; his brothers, Bobby (Donna) Laymon of Muskogee, OK; Thomas (Ellen) Laymon of Grove, OK; Jonathan (Sandy) Laymon of Braggs, OK; Christopher (Gina) Laymon of Gore, OK; Charles (Kathy) Laymon of Gore, OK; and his grandchildren, Jessica Laymon, Tesah (Christian) Jones, Joseph Laymon, Whitney Thomason, Mason Laymon, Wyatt Thomason, and Payton Barnum. In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by a son Jesse James Laymon, and a brother Mitchell Laymon. Memorial services and Masonic Committal Honors are scheduled for 2:00 P. M. , Monday, December 4, 2023, at Miles Funeral Service. Private burial will take place at New Salem Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established in Jeff's name for his family. Vicki Sue Reynolds passed away peacefully at home on November 24, 2023, after spending Thanksgiving Day surrounded by family. Born January 29, 1964 in Winfield, Kansas, Vicki was the devoted daughter of Ronald and Carolyn (Kelley) Reynolds. The first of her parents' three daughters and one of a thousand cousins in the collective Reynolds-Kelley clan, Vicki loved nothing more than to spend time with the people she loved: her family and the people fortunate to share decades' long friendships with her. Vicki set the standard on how to be the best daughter, sister, and aunt. Vicki did more than just send a card on a holiday. She was present in every sense of the word. Vicki was known for her thoughtful handmade gifts, especially her carefully crafted photo albums and cross-stitch patterns. But her greatest gift was the time she gave people. If a friend or family member was in need, Vicki would hop in her car or even get on a plane to be with that person. During their childhoods, Vicki spent individual weeks every summer focusing on her beloved nephews and niece, giving them all of her attention, treating them to adventures they would remember forever, and enriching their lives in countless ways. Vicki graduated third in her class from Winfield High School in 1982. She graduated cum laude from Kansas State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Art degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. Vicki made a career in a profession she loved, Journalism. She spent nearly twenty-five years as an editor for the Lincoln Journal Star. Vicki then returned home to Kansas to be closer to family and work in journalism for several other newspapers including the Wichita Eagle, and McClatchy. Jeanette Kay King, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at her home. Born June 27, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of Arnold H. and Doris A. (Reusser) Schmidt. She was raised and received her education in Wichita, graduating from Wichita West High School in 1961. She then attended Wichita State University and received a Bachelor degree in English in 1966. She was united in marriage to Lawrence P. King, Jr. on June 17, 1966, in Wichita. The couple made their first home in Arkansas City, where Jeanette began her career as a high school English teacher. The couple later moved to Winfield for a short time before moving to the family farm North of Wifield in 1974. Jeanette continued working as a teacher until shortly before their children were born. She spent most of her life on the farm as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. After the children were raised, she returned to teaching for a short time. She worked several jobs later in life including working for the library, the church district superintendent, and JC Penney's. She was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church and the Soroptomist of Winfield. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, watching football and baseball games with Larry, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and needlepoint. Her family includes her husband Larry King of Winfield; her children, Maria King of Wichita; Lawrence P. King, III of Winfield; James King and wife, Jennifer of Wichita; her siblings, Rose Marie Watt and husband, Jim of Winfield; Ray Schmidt and wife, Cheryl of Wichita; Lucas King, Silver Pederson, Amelia King, and Eloise King; a great granddaughter Ryann Lynn Ingram; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by a nephew, Keith M. Watt. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P. M. , Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Grandview United Methodist Church under the direction of Miles Funeral Service. Private family burial will take place at a later date. On November 14, 2023 Connie Jean Andes stepped into the arms of her Heavenly Father. Connie suffered a stroke several months ago and was able to leave her pain and suffering behind and passed peacefully at home in Winfield, Kansas. Connie Jean Andes was born on May 16, 1939, in Winfield, to Ralph Henderson and Neva (Stuber) Henderson of Burden, Kansas. When Connie was 16 years old her mother passed away suddenly. Since Connie was the oldest, she stepped up and helped her father take care of her four siblings, Sonny, Sarah, Ralph and John Henderson. After Connie graduated from Central of Burden High School, she went to work in the physical therapy department at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center. In June of 1962, Connie and Gary Andes were united in marriage. They moved into a house that was a mile west of Burden where their first child, Todd Lynn Andes was born. A few years later they moved to their home in Winfield where their daughter Trudy Andes Campbell was born. Connie worked alongside her father in the real estate and oil business for many years. She later formed her own business, Andes Real Estate and she and Gary began buying farms and ranches for both them and Gary's brothers, Donnie and Willie Andes. The Andes Brothers partnership was formed. Connie also took over the oil and gas business from her father, Ralph Henderson. Connie and Gary and their two children, Todd and Trudy, moved east of Winfield and enjoyed living with their dogs, horses, cattle and donkeys. In June of 1980, her husband Gary Andes was killed in a farm truck accident at the age of forty- three. Connie continued working in her real estate company and remained business partners with her brother-in-law Donnie Andes. She was also business partners with her two children, Todd and Trudy, known as Andes Land, Cattle and Oil. Connie was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband Gary L. Andes, son Todd L. Andes, brothers, John and Jacob "Sonny" Henderson, brothers-in-law, Willis Andes and Donald Andes, sister-in-law Vickie Andes Metzinger, and one great grandson Braden Andes. Connie is survived by her daughter Trudy Andes Campbell (husband Travis); Trudy's children, Garrett Champlin and Westen Champlin; Todd's longtime partner Reida Miller; Todd's children, Garylynn Miller (Austin), Kasha David (Morgan), Geremy Andes (Georganna), Vegas Andes, Reno Andes, Chetta Andes; sister Sarah Martin; brother Ralph Henderson; along with great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Show more

DeKota Lynn Redenius, 34, of Udall, Kansas, joined the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, November 9, 2023. DeKota was born January 17, 1989, in Wichita, Kansas, to George Tiemeyer and Linda Scott. As a child, DeKota was an exceptional student who made honors, played the trumpet in the school band, ran cross country, and had a knack for just about anything creative. She carried much of that creativity into adulthood and was known for her way with words, her thoughtful gestures, and her eye for capturing a great photo. Following her schooling, DeKota tried a few different industries before making her career with the Girl Scouts as a Customer Care Specialist. She absolutely loved her job and it had truly come full circle, because she was a Girl Scout herself growing up and believed in the organization. "Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout. " She even married the love of her life, Derek Redenius on August 13, 2022 at the beautiful Starwoods Girl Scout Camp. DeKota is survived by her Husband (Derek) and daughters (Tristan & Bryclyn), along with her parents (Linda & Moe), siblings, and many other relatives and friends. Perhaps the most beautiful thing DeKota created was the village she surrounded herself with. There will be a private service for the family followed by a celebration of life held at the American Legion Post 4 in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, November 18th from 11am-4pm.
