Lois Barnes Rayburn, age 84, of Texarkana, Texas went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She was born on September 6,1939, in Boston, MA. Lois was a Registered Nurse, dedicated wife and mother, and faithful member of Hampton Church of Christ. She was a doting Grammy to nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Lois loved her pets, including her cows and especially her black lab, Jax. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Charles (Charlie) B. Rayburn; parents Major Harry S. and Eleanor Barnes, and son-in-law Michael W. Davidson. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law James Michael Harris (Lou) of Dickinson, TX, Andy Rayburn (Shawn) of Texarkana, TX, and Dana Rayburn of Texarkana, TX; one daughter Pamela Harris Davidson of Tallahassee, FL. A celebration of life service will be held for both Charlie and Lois at a later date at Northwood Cemetery in Texarkana, TX. Jean Elaine Hedlund Campbell, age 93, died of natural causes on December 6th, 2023, at St. Michael's Hospital. She was born on November 19th, 1930, in Malung, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Axel and Angeline Hedlund. She married her loving husband, Joseph, on September 30th, 1962. They were married within a week of sixty one years when Joseph passed away this year. In her early years, Jean was a telephone operator in Minnesota. She met and married "Joe" and began their wonderful life together. Upon Joe's retirement, the couple moved to Texarkana, in 1997, to enjoy the warmer weather. Jean enjoyed reading novels, watching CNN, and baseball. The Minnesota Twins were one of her favorites. She also was an avid viewer of the shopping networks while enjoying a good cup of coffee. Jean and Joe had many friends and relatives who they socialized with. They were also taken good care of by their wonderful neighbors - The Harrell's, The Revels, and the Scotts. Additionally their good friends included the H. T. Burrow Family. Survivors include many Nieces and Nephews. Jean's ashes will be spread according to her direction. Martha Cannon

Martha Rae Cannon, 82, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on December 7, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 1, 1941, in Longview, Texas, to Tiny Spates and Ray Bartlett. Martha attended 1st Bikers Church, and she enjoyed spending her time watching Christmas movies. She loved being in the kitchen, cooking meals for anyone and everyone that she could. She was also Elvis' biggest fan. She faithfully attended concerts of an Elvis tribute artist from Louisiana, Richard Cook, every month. Martha is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Floyd H. Cannon; her parents; two sisters, Ann Freeman and Mary Rouse; and three brothers, Donald Bartlett, Butch Bartlett, and Joe Bartlett. Survivors include her daughters, Pam Akin and husband Mike, Patty Alquist and husband John, Penny Cannon, and Paula Rubly; six grandchildren, Hailey Batiste and husband Zack, CJ Jones, Noel Gilley and husband MJ, Jake Akin, Lindsey Rubly, and Kolby Mitchell; one bonus grandson, Charles Kennedy; four great-grandchildren, Karson Gilley, Kamdon Gilley, Zayden Batiste, and Chaselynn Betts; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 3:00 P. M. at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens with Bro. Matthew Butler officiating. Clara Bilek Craig, age 92, of Texarkana, Texas, passes away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at The Retreat at Kenwood. She was born on January 15, 1931, in Texarkana, Texas, to Frank and Madie Bilek. Mrs. Craig spent her working days as a secretary. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, cross-stitching, reading, sewing, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Crossview Baptist Church. Her family described her as a strong, hard-working but gentle lady with a sweet smile. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister aunt, friend, and "second momma" to many. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Calvin Craig; one great-granddaughter Brittney Hamilton; parents; four siblings; one niece; and four nephews. Left to cherish her memory is daughter and son-in-law Karen (Charles) Vance; grandchildren Bart (Lynnlee) Vance, Melody (David) Stearns, and Cindy Hamilton; great-grandchildren Taylor (Austyn) Vance, Meghan (Matt) Courtney, Meredith (Brandon) McClure, Kaylee (Matthew) Wise, Tyler Hamilton, Hunter (Rebecca) Vance, and Marion (David) Harllee; great-great-grandchildren J. D. , Vance, Josiah, Vander, Timothy, Joshua, Elaine, Ozro, and Sarah Jane; one niece Cathy Buford; two nephews David Craig and Steve Craig; and a number of other relatives and friends. George Akin, 65, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on December 6, 2023. George was born on December 31, 1957, in Texarkana, Arkansas to Willene and McKinney Akin. He was a Veteran of the Air Force and retired from Red River Army Depot. George is preceded in death by his father and one brother, William Akin. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Judy Akin; his mother, Willene Akin; two sons, J. B. Flowers and wife Nancy, and Collin Akin; one daughter Lacey Corbett and husband Adam; grandchildren, Ashton Flowers, Jasmine Flowers, Kaitlin Corbett, Blakely Corbett, Terrance Revill, and numerous other grandchildren; as well as a host of relatives and friends. Charles Dobbins

Charles (Chuck) Edward Dobbins, 85, of Claremore OK, passed away on November 23, 2023 in the presence of his loved ones at his residence. Chuck was born on January 29, 1938 to Roy and Flossie Dobbins in Texarkana, Texas. He graduated from Trinity high school in 1956. Chuck studied mathematics at Sam Houston College graduating in 1962 as a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity (formerly The Raven Social Club). After graduation, he taught mathematics and coached football in Orleans, France for US military dependents for several years. In 1966, Chuck met and married Linda. They spent most of their years together in Claremore. They have two children, Laura and Chris. Chuck was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family and numerous friends meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often spoke of. He was unendingly proud of his children, Laura Sanders, Chris Dobbins, and his grandchildren, Wil, Ian, and Addisyn Sanders. Chuck found his passion for horses and horse racing as a teenager when he started going to the race track with his uncle Robert McCoy. He turned that love into breeding Quarter horses and raised several successful runners including winning the prestigious AQHA Challenge Championship race at Lone Star Park with a horse (Runaway Wil) named after his first grandchild. He could often be found in the company of friends at the racetrack when he wasn't at home. Chuck was predeceased in death by his parents, Roy and Flossie Dobbins and his sister Beatrice Rogers. Chuck is survived by his wife Linda, brother Kenneth Dobbins, sister Barbara Walker, daughter Laura, son Chris and his three grandchildren Wil, Ian, and Addisyn. There will not be a celebration of life service as Chuck chose for his family and friends to remember him as they knew him- full of life, at the racetrack playing the ponies or bragging about his children and grandchildren.Show more

Sandra Sue Manning Miller, age 76, of Texarkana, Texas died Monday, December 4, 2023 in a local hospital. Mrs. Manning was born November 13, 1947 in New Boston, Texas. She was retired from NAFTA at Red River Army Depot and was a Methodist. Jefferson Daniel Holder III, of Texarkana, TX entered into the presence of Jesus on December 2, 2023. He was born the son of J. D. and Lucille Holder of Pickens, SC on May 11, 1933. He lived in Texarkana with his wife for the last 22 years. HIs Celebration of Life service is 11 a. m. Wednesday December 6 at First Baptist Church of Texarkana, 3015 Moores Lane. , Texarkana, with Dr. J. D. Tutell officiating the service. There will be a visitation on Tuesday December 5 from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m at East Funeral Home, 2807 Moores Lane, Texarkana. He was a loving husband for 64 years to Setsuko Holder. He loved his family and his Savior Jesus. He was a 32 year veteran of the United States Air Force. His hobbies included working on cars, air conditioning repair, building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He assisted with the building of several churches. In Texarkana he was a member and Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Texarkana for the last 22 years, and of the local chapter of the Korean War Veterans Chapter. He is preceded in death by his parents, J. D. and Lucille Holder, his brothers Billy Holder and Johnny Mauldin Holder, his sister Tweety Ball and grandson Zachatry Jones. He is survived by his wife, Setsuko, sister Judy Holder of Bangor, Maine, daughter Mary (Rex) Jones of Gilbert, Arizona, Linda (J. Milenda was born September 19, 1948 in Simms, Texas to Adron Ancil and Willie Louise Cox Hanna. She held a degree in interior design and education, and was a retired project manager for AT&T Milenda was of the Baptist faith. Sharon was born March 30, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas to Vernon D. and Wanda L. Dowdy Burns. She was a retired office manager and pharmacy tech. She was strong in her faith and belief in Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ronnie White. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lynn and Jim Greer of Bedford, Texas, Angi White of Nacogdoches, Texas, Cindi and Kenny Barnett of De Kalb, Texas, and Wendi and Terry Whatley of Hope, Arkansas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jerri Poe of Fort Worth, Texas and Jean and Steve Lewis of New Boston, New Hampshire; one brother and sister-in-law, Rob and Barbara Burns; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
