Lois Osgood Miltimore, age 87, of Monroeville, NJ, passed away peacefully at Summit Place Senior Living, Glassboro, NJ, surrounded by family. Lois was born in Farmington, ME, on March 26, 1936, to Henry Reuben and Grace Black Osgood. Lois graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, in 1954, and soon after married Frank Young. They had four children - Joy, Allen, Jay and Jan - and later divorced. In 1968, she married William B. Miltimore in Hyattsville, MD, and two families became one with Bill's children, Ruthanne and Bryan. They all moved to Gibbstown, NJ, and Lois went to work at 76 Truck Stop in Paulsboro, NJ, on 3rd shift so she could take care of the family during the afternoon and nights and sleep during the day. She worked at various positions - at Tiny Tots Day Care center in Woodbury, NJ; PSI in Thorofare, NJ; Acme Hamilton in Bellmawr, NJ; and for a dermatologist in Philadelphia Center City. She also studied for and earned her massage therapist certificate. At age 45, she decided to return to college part-time to start her long educational journey. Lois received an Associate in Applied Science degree in 1984 from Gloucester County College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990 from Rowan University, a Master of Divinity degree in 2003 from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry in Marriage and Family degree in 2010 from Palmer Theological Seminary at age 74. She then pastored at Memorial Baptist Church in Salem, NJ, until 2016, at age 80, when the church closed its doors. While at Memorial Baptist, she also ran a "Grandparents Raising Grandchildren" group for the Salem community. Lois served on boards, taught Sunday School, sang in the choirs and volunteered her time at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Paulsboro, NJ, and at Central Baptist Church in Woodbury, NJ. Lois played piano and had many musical nights with friends and family. She was an avid reader and passed that love of books on to the younger generations. She volunteered her time at Friends Village in Woodstown, teaching a weekly Bible study and visiting with residents. She had her certificate as a Literacy Program Volunteer and worked as an aide and tutor at Upper Pittsgrove School. In the later years, she would go into her daughter's and granddaughter's classrooms to read to the students. Her passion was her family. She loved and supported her children, doted on her grand- and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the children and grandchildren in all their scholastic and sports endeavors. She particularly loved watching softball and, even recently, went to all her granddaughters' adult softball league games as they won their championships. She officiated at many of the grandchildren's weddings, went to all high school and college graduations, attended her great-granddaughter's preschool graduations, school plays, and dance recitals. She was a blessing to her family, and, for her, family was always a priority. She loved the ocean, especially her Outer Banks weeks with the families, and was still boogie-boarding at 80 years of age! Lois is predeceased by her beloved husband, William; parents Henry and Grace Osgood; brother David Osgood; sister Lin Osgood Norman; and daughter Ruthanne Bates. Surviving are her sister Judy Matthews; her children Bryan Miltimore III (Stephanie), Joy Young, Allen Young (Jane), Jay Young, Jan Knorr (Robert); loving grandchildren Stacey Mangine (Joe), Angela Villecco, John Villecco (Katie), Lisa Allgaier (Eric), Ben Young, Amanda Mitchell (Jon), Erika Knorr (Stephanie), Caroline Young (Jimmy), Kristen Knorr (Terrance), Brooke Knorr, Dillan Young (Kylie); and her loving great grandchildren Elayna and Sofie Allgaier, Adelyn Villecco, Eli and Madilynn Mitchell, Brynlee Knorr and Elliott Osborne. Ronald Pedrick

Ronald Pedrick

Age - 76

November 1, 2023

Ronald Clarence "Ped" Pedrick, age 76, peacefully passed away at the side of his wife on October 29, 2023. Born in Salem to the late Clarence "Chick" and Julia Pedrick, he was a lifelong Salem County resident. Ped (Ron) graduated from Salem High School in 1967. After graduation he joined the New Jersey National Guard, where he proudly served 6 years while being stationed at Fort Dix. Ped married Linda Sue Owens in 1969. They have loved one another steadfastly for 54 years, built a successful business together and considered one another their rocks. At the age of 16, Ped began working in his father's business, The Salem Boat Exchange. At his father's side, he learned all facets of running the business of boating. At the time they concentrated solely on selling and servicing Johnson Outboards, however as the business grew throughout the years, they added selling and servicing Yamaha Outboards, G3 Boats, trailers, and a storefront that focused on the boater in the summer months and the hunter in the winter months. Ped prided himself on the fact that he was part of a 67 year old family owned and operated business, until his death. Ped's devotion to his business, and the commitment to uphold their excellent reputation for sales and services was unmatched, he was the first to work and the last to leave. He credits his successful business because he made sure to employ only the best mechanics he could find, including former mechanic Aaron Schafer and current mechanics Steve Lombardo and David Sites. He thoroughly enjoyed getting to know his customers and if you spent any time sitting across from his desk while he worked on a motor or boat deal for you, Ped never forgot you. His ability to remember what a customer purchased in the form of a boat, motor, or trailer, even 20 years prior, was uncanny. Ped cherished his time spent at his home on the Delaware River, and especially loved the holidays. Whether it was a bonfire in his driveway as he greeted trick-or-treaters and their parents, or a fully decorated home at Christmas, Ped was the consummate host. One of Ped's greatest joys was goose and duck hunting with his nephew Steve, and friends John Chollis and Doug Chappius. Nothing made him happier than reeding the blind, calling in the birds, and watching the Shop dogs do their work. He was a lifelong supporter of Ducks Unlimited and a sponsor of the Salem Little League. Ped also found great enjoyment in following the Nascar circuit and the Phillies and Eagles sports teams. He was an excellent dart player and could be found on most Tuesday evenings playing darts with his lifetime friend Dave Faulhaber, or enjoying a Friday night "Happy Hour" with his buddies Jack Nelson and Albie DeMaris. Ped shared great relationships with all of his brothers-in-law, however one held a special place in his heart, his brother-in-law, Jack Kugler. Together those two traveled with their wives, pulled off some crazy stunts, enjoyed their cocktails, and created memories. Ped is survived by his wife, the former Linda Sue Owens; his sister Janice Pedrick Lombardo; nephews Stephen Lombardo (Kelly), Michael Lombardo (Cherie), great nieces Alexandra Doble (Brian) and Grace Lombardo; and MANY more nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, all of whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Jean (Smith) Gatanis, and brother Robert Smith. The family would like to thank the many people who stepped forward to help out during this difficult time, most especially the loving, nursing care from Bonnie Chappius and Kay Cawman. As well as the friends and family who provided transportation to and from the hospital, or helped out at The Boat Shop, it's been greatly appreciated and won't be forgotten. A memorial visitation will be held at WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem-Quinton Rd, Salem, NJ (Quinton Twp. ) on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 9am-11am. Visitors are encouraged to wear their Boat Shop shirts. In lieu of flowers donations to the Elsinboro Fire Company and Ambulance Squad, 35 Delaware Ave. , Salem, NJ 08079 are greatly appreciated. James Coyne Jr

James Coyne Jr

Age - 87

August 31, 2023

James Richard Coyne, Jr. Born in Philadelphia, PA on Monday March 2, 1936 to Louise and James R. Coyne. As a child James excelled in school, both academically and in sport. He was on the basketball team for Salem High School and became president of the Class of 1954, a responsibility he continued with long after graduation by keeping in touch with school mates, hosting committee meetings and organizing numerous class reunions. Even as a young adult James enjoyed spending his free time socializing and playing around with friends and in the summers, he would visit with his grandparents in Shamokin, PA. Jim met his beloved wife, Jacqueline Webster, at Salem HS. They married in 1958 and had three children, Tracy, Toni and Rich. Jim's work took their family to 10 different homes in the following 9 years, but they always came back home to NJ, to visit with family and friends. Jim was the ultimate professional. It doesn't matter whether he was working at the flower shop, Anchor Hocking's personnel department, negotiating contracts for Smithkline Beecham's International Human Resources Division (now GSK), organizing the holiday gathering for Salem's Exchange Club or if he was just helping you update your resume, Jim used all of his intelligence and wit to get the job done -and to cross it off his checklist! Following Jim's retirement, he and Jackie continued to travel, adventuring along with their group of friends, meeting new ones and sightseeing the world. With the addition of grandchildren and an RV, Jim and Jackie traveled back and forth from NJ to Charleston, SC making the most of the time they could spend with family. Jim loved the cottage in Elsinboro. He spent so much time reading on the porch, watching the ship and bird activity, enjoying the company of his cats. Football on Sundays, Tuesday night Exchange Club meetings (aka boy scouts), Friday night dinners with the group, or fun in the sun weekends with the kids, all of which he was passionately dedicated to and cherished dearly. James is survived by his brother Stephen Coyne (Lynne), his wife Jacqueline, his son James Richard Coyne III (Tina), his son-in-law John Wisely. His grandchildren Rebecca and Connor Wisely, Andrea Chaplin (Joseph), Sydney Welch, Eric and Jeffrey Miller (Jackie) and his great grandchildren will never forget the advice and laughs we've shared. James was preceded in death by his daughters: Tracy Dyson (2022) and Toni Wisely (2023). Family and friends are encouraged to celebrate with us James' life. Services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 613 Salem Quinton Road, Salem, NJ 08079 (Quinton Twp. ) where family and friends may visit from 10:00 to 11:00AM. Helen Bacon

Helen Bacon

Age - 86

June 27, 2023

Helen Marcia Haynes Bacon went home to be with Jesus on the morning of June 25, 2023. She was born on December 9, 1936 on Chestnut Street in Salem, NJ to Benjamin Franklin Haynes, Sr. and Frances Mifflin Haynes. She was the baby of the family behind Maude, Jean, and Ben Jr. Her aunt, Geraldine Mifflin Davis, was like a sister to her. The family moved to Riverview Farm in Elsinboro soon after Helen was born. She loved life "on the farm. " Cows were some of her favorite people to talk to, she never met a Border Collie or German Shepherd she didn't like, and "down back" was a favorite destination. She met the love of her life, Bill Bacon, when he came to work on the farm, and they were married in 1955. They built a little house and raised two daughters on the farm with Helen's parents, siblings, nieces and nephews as neighbors. It was a chaotic and fantastic childhood for Helen's daughters. In 1983, Helen and Bill started a new adventure when they sold their house on the farm and bought a farmhouse in Elsinboro with Dennis and Linda and their children, Jennifer and Jared. A few years later, Helen and Bill's daughter Karen built a home next door, bringing her children, Melinda and Christina. It was a chaotic and fantastic childhood for Helen's grandchildren. The house was always open to Helen's siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who would stop by, and they usually ended up with their pictures in one of Helen's many photo albums - with their full name and age, in years and months, documented on the back of the picture. Helen and Bill built a rancher next to the farmhouse for retirement and spent many happy years there enjoying their next phase of life: great-grandchildren. Helen worked at DuPont for a year before becoming a devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother. Her time at DuPont was just long enough for her to save up to buy a car for Bill. Her legacy, however, is not one of things but of the time and effort dedicated to serving her family and the knowledge and faith that she passed along to them. She was a devoted follower of Jesus and sought to please Him in everything that she did, and the most important thing to her was passing that faith along to her children and grandchildren. Helen kept a regimented schedule and took her housekeeping duties as seriously as she would have taken any paid profession. Bill's lunch was packed every single day with a thermos, shined apple, sandwich, and snacks. You were more likely to win the lottery than find a wrinkle in his clothing, and dinner was always on time (so hungry grandchildren knew where to go and when). She was organized, everything was in its proper place, and laundry was still warm when it hit the drawer. Helen also loved gardening and spent many years tending the beautiful gardens around the farmhouse. And yet, there was always time for her to rock babies and sing songs and read stories and play games. She endured "help" with her tasks from grandchildren and great-grandchildren and patiently taught them what she was doing and why. Every conversation came back to Jesus, most of the songs that she sang and stories that she read to any babies and children in her care were about Jesus, and she truly tried to do all of the mundane tasks involved in keeping house and raising children "as unto the Lord. " Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren certainly consider themselves blessed to have had her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill in 2016; her mother and father; siblings Maude, Jean, and Ben; niece, Linda Graeff VanPelt and nephews John Weber, John Haynes, and Michael Haynes. Helen downsized in 2020 and spent her last three years living with Dennis and Linda. She doted on their springer spaniels, Sadie and Bess. The springers returned the favor and could often be found napping in her room. Her little suite was just right and filled with family pictures and special memories. She enjoyed helping Linda around the house until she was no longer able. As her health declined over the last year, her family. including her great-grandchildren, were happy to help care for her as she cared for them over the years. While the situation was not easy, and "it is what it is" became a regular phrase, there were many laughs and special moments and precious conversations in the hard parts that her family will forever be grateful to have experienced. She leaves to treasure her memory her two daughters Linda Bradway (Dennis), and Karen McMahon; her four grandchildren Jennifer Ladner (Kevin), Jared Bradway (Stephanie), Melinda Wheeler (Tye), and Christina Bierman (Dale); her 17 great-grandchildren Joseph McKelvey, Jacelyn and Kinnan Ladner; Austin, Brandon, Bryan, Cayden, Coltin, Jackson, and Benjamin Bradway; Garrett, Luke, Alex, and Emma Wheeler; Caleb and AJ Brown and Darren Bierman; her cherished nieces Leslie Murr and Janna Tuthill; nephews Edward Graeff (Karen), Ben Haynes III and Donald Haynes; many great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Barbara Haynes; and her lifelong friend Tink Plummer.
