Lois Carter, age 95, of Byron Center, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 17, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; and two sons: Stephen and Joel Carter. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sharon (Dick) Algera; daughters-in-law: Judy Carter and Judy (Jay) Bussa; grandchildren: Joel (Kim) Carter, Andrew Ashby, Steven (Sarah) Carter, James (Sarah) Algera, and Melinda (Paul) Chateau; as well as several great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. She was born in Aurora, Illinois, and lived there until she married her sweetheart in 1946. They were married for 62 years. They moved to Springfield and later to Grand Rapids. They joined Eastminster Presbyterian Church in 1958, and she later became the church manager for 18 years. She and Albert were youth leaders for many years. She was also a volunteer at Buist Community Assistance. Her joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1700 Woodward Ave SE, Grand Rapids. A visitation will take place on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 4:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, and again from 10:00 a. m. until the time of service at the church on Monday. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
