CARPENTER, Lois Ann (Conklin) - of Mount Morris, MI, age 72, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023. Cremation has taken place. A Committal Service will be held at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 North Dort Highway, Mount Morris, MI 48458, on a later date. Lois was born in Flint, MI on August 5, 1951, daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Broom) Conklin. She married Wayne Carpenter on June 6, 1981 in Davison, MI. Lois had a passion for various creative pursuits that brought joy to her life and those around her. She was an accomplished crocheter, skillful in crafting beautiful and intricate pieces. Her talent extended to quilting, where she created warm and comforting quilts that will be cherished by her loved ones. Lois also had a talent for canning, preserving the flavors of the seasons in her homemade jams and preserves. Her artistic nature also led her to the world of basket weaving, where she crafted unique and functional baskets, showcasing her creativity and skill. Lois will be remembered not only for her creative talents but also for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lois is survived by her husband, Wayne Carpenter; 5 children, Denice (Harry) Smith, William Brisbane, Shannon (Chris) Boller, Tracy Malone and Corey Carpenter; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings, Kathleen Harte and John "Bud" Conklin; brother-in-law, Paul Ketterer; many other loving family members and dear friends. WARREN, Doris Norma (Hawley) - of Mount Morris, MI, age 96, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Inurnment in Caseville Township Cemetery on a later date. Norma was born in Nottingham, England on June 16, 1927, daughter of the late Frederick and Ivy (Miles) Hawley. She married Frederick Warren on July 6, 1946 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Flint, MI and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2004. Throughout her life, Norma found joy in various activities. She had a talent for crocheting, skillfully creating beautiful and intricate pieces. Norma worked in the knitting department of Smith-Bridgman's Department Store in Flint, MI. She also shared her skills with aspiring knitters and crocheters as a teacher at Mott Community College. Norma was dedicated to her physical well-being, engaging in regular exercise and even teaching yoga. Norma is survived by 2 children, Gary (Gloria) Warren and Candace (Dan) Rice; 6 grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Arsenault, Chris (Melanie) Rice, Chad (Charla) Warren, Amy (Nick Schmerr) McAdam, Kelly (Adam) Owens and Katie (Mike) Lewis; 7 great-grandchildren, Maya Owens, Dalton Owens, Joshua Arsenault, Jared Arsenault, Zachary Warren, Bailee Lewis and Macie Lewis; sister, Joan Wood; many other loving family members and dear friends. FERGUSON, Charles "Chuck" Allan - of Mount Morris, MI, age 80, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Monday, June 12, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 West Flint Street, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Todd I. Frusti officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 2-8 PM Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home and 12-1 PM Monday, June 12, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church/Trinity Youth or a charity of one's choice, in Chuck's memory. Chuck was born in Flint, MI on September 19, 1942, son of the late Charles "Charlie" Alexander and Muriel Grace (Pullen) Ferguson. He was a graduate of Mount Morris High School, the "Round School", Class of 1960. After graduation, Chuck attended Flint Junior College. On April 4, 1975, Chuck married Carol Sheridan at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davison, MI. After they married, Chuck and Carol bought his family home in Mount Morris, which is where they raised their family. Chuck served as Alderman on the Mount Morris City Council for 22 years from 1969-1990. Then, from 1990-1991, Chuck served as the mayor of Mount Morris, MI. He was a member of the Mount Morris Jaycees and on a special committee for the Mount Morris School District, where Chuck came up with their motto "Learning for a Lifetime". Chuck retired from Saginaw Supermarket in 2016 after more than 20 years of service. He had many interests, but one was celebrated in the Fall on October 31 (Halloween), when Chuck became "The Monster on Walter Street". Many moms, children and older youths met "The Monster" with screams. He loved to go camping and greatly enjoyed earning overnight free rooms at casinos. Chuck also enjoyed working on The Detroit News daily crossword puzzles and his favorite show was Jeopardy. He was also a very vocal Detroit Tigers fan. Chuck was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was the church recording secretary, recording all the church meetings, for over 40 years. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carol Ferguson; 2 sons, Matthew Charles Ferguson and Brian Joseph Ferguson; 1 granddaughter, Mikayla Paije Ferguson; 3 brothers, Paul Ferguson, Bruce Ferguson and Robert Ferguson; sister-in-law, Karen Ferguson; step-mother-in-law, Doris Sheridan; many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Alexander "Charlie" and Muriel Grace Ferguson; 2 sisters, Patricia (Dan) Rice and Michele Ferguson. Chuck will be greatly missed by all the people at his favorite gas station, where he was affectionately called "Grumps". He was also known as the "Old Man" and "Grumps" by his granddaughter, Mikayla. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 2-4 PM Friday, December 16, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the U. S. Marine Corps. League Flint Detachment #155, in Richard's memory. Richard was born in Flint, MI on September 8, 1939, son of the late Guy and Natalie (Tkaczyk) Nowland. He was a graduate of Flint Northern High School. Richard proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps. from 1956-1962 and was a proud lifetime member of the U. S. Marine Corps. League Flint Detachment #155. He married Mary Fish on June 8, 1962. Richard retired from Teamsters Local #332 after more than 30 years of service. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Mary Nowland; 4 children, Kathy (Jim) Alloway, Kim Frost, Tracie (Les) Hilder and Rick (Kerry) Nowland; 9 grandchildren, Kevin, Jason, Ryan, Denise, Christina, Amber, Jamee, Nick and Brandi; several great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and good friends.
