JUDIE DAVIS FLORENZANO Florenzano, Judie age 77, of Edina, MN, passed away from complications of pneumonia on December 4, 2023 at Fairview Southdale hospital. Heaven gained an angel and our beautiful Judie claimed her wings surrounded by her loving family. Judie was as beautiful inside as she was radiant on the outside. She was the beloved only child of Flick and Luella Davis (deceased. ) She grew up in south Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School. She met Joe Florenzano during spring break in Florida in a romance that could have been from a beach party movie. They fell in love immediately, carried on a long distance romance between Minnesota and Rhode Island, and married in Barrington, Rhode Island in June, 1970. Judie became an RN, graduating from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Winona, MN. She started her professional nursing career at the University of Minnesota Burn Unit and then worked at Metropolitan Medical Center (which later became Hennepin County Medical Center. ) At MMC Judie practiced nursing in the field of Psychology, becoming the Head Nursing Supervisor of the Psychiatric Intensive Care unit. In 1975 - 1977 Judie taught Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) courses at St. Paul Technical Vocational Institute (STP-TVI) now called St. Paul College. During this time Judie was also studying for her masters degree at Augsburg University on a nursing scholarship. She was doing her masters thesis on MS and taking a clinical course where she was assigned to a veteran at the Veterans Hospital diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. After learning all the early signs of the disease. Judie realized that she thought she may have M. S. because she was experiencing many of the same symptoms as her VA patient. Judie's self-diagnosis was later confirmed by her doctors. Her health slowly declined to the point that she was unable to work any longer and was later confined to a wheelchair. The once rising shining star in the nursing profession was no longer able to climb at the tender young age of 31. Judie and her family continued to live with M. S. until her death. Judie always gave her best to combat her disease and maintain her vitality, and her valiant, fighting spirit persisted until her last, final breath. Judie was the mother of two children that she adored. She is survived by her loving daughter, Ashle; her son, Zachary, who survives in our hearts, predeceased Judie in 1998 at the age of 16. "Marlys Virginia (Crandall) Norman of Pine River, MN, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Brookside Comfort Home in Pine River, MN. She was born on February 12, 1928, to Leo and Selma Crandall at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN; the firstborn of twin daughters. She grew up in Minneapolis, MN, graduating in 1946 from Edison High School. On January 15, 1949, she married (Jay) Bruce Norman, and they had two children together: Steve, born in 1951, and Cheri, born in 1956. They raised their family in Brooklyn Center, MN. Marlys lived there until she moved to Sleepy Eye, MN, to live with her daughter Cheri and son-in-law Greg Reiniger. From there, she moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Pine River and then to the Brookside Comfort Home in Pine River. Marlys trusted in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. As a woman of faith, she was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, participating in women's circle (Bible Study) and teaching Sunday School for several years. While raising her children, she often had her daily devotions on the living room sofa later in the day; then after retirement, she had her devotions at the kitchen table where she kept her Bible along with her morning cup of coffee. This was also her prayer time. Marlys worked at the Old Dutch Potato chip factory during high school and then at the Midland Bank following high school graduation. In 1965, Marlys started working at the Anoka County Day Time Activity Center in Fridley, MN, and worked there for over nine years. She loved her job there and enjoyed making a difference in the lives of the children in her classroom and their families. She often called her students "my children. " Occasionally when shopping, Marlys would be confused for her twin sister Marilyn. She would smile and say, "I think you have me confused for my sister Marilyn," and always took the time to visit with them. She would then be sure to let Marilyn know whom she bumped into at the store. Marlys' life was always full of family, friends, and fun. She loved visiting, baking, antiquing, crocheting, sewing, and playing cards with her card group friends. She was a wonderful mom and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce, son-in-law Greg, and great-grandson Elijah. Patricia Martin

Patricia Martin

Age - 79

December 8, 2023

"Patricia O'Neill Martin (Trish), 79, passed away on December 4, 2023, in Eden Prairie, MN. Born in Glen Ellyn, IL, to Peggy and Elmer O'Neill, she lived most of her life in Long Lake, MN, with her husband William (Bill), who preceded her in death in 2020. She is survived by her four children, Lauren (Rick Hellebrand), Michelle (Robert Radtke), Christopher (Allisyn), and Emily (Scott) McPherson, and six grandchildren, Alexandra, Eva, Oliver, Georgia, Adeline and Theo. Her whole family was beside her during her long journey through hospice. Trish's life was a quiet revolution - she went against the grain. When Bill and Trish moved to the Twin Cities in 1973, they bought a place in the country, and even as the suburbs grew around them, Trish maintained their old farmhouse. She cared for her family and her surroundings through craft and using her hands. She built toys and a dollhouse, made clothes, and taught herself home repair from a "how to" encyclopedia. She was a "maker" before it was a movement. Her other passion was cooking and learning how food can be good for the soul and the body. Dinner was a labor of love. She shaped every aspect of the farmhouse into a home, including proudly displaying artwork from Aunt Honey, Grandma Flora, and her mother Peggy. No home of Trish's was ever complete without a Sheltie underfoot! Trish had a deep and spiritual connection to horses and was a dedicated horse trainer and rider - a total horse person! She spent her days with her horse, Ashley (and before her Blue Eyes), and her "barn friends," or at St. Edward's with her "church friends," where she served on the altar guild, as senior warden, as an elder, and as a choir member. Trish spent the last 15 years of her life helping her husband Bill live with Parkinson's disease as his steadfast caregiver. After it no longer possible to remain at the family home in Long Lake, she was grateful and relieved to be able to move next door to her daughter Emily and her family. "The Compound", as we called it, became the hub for weekly family gatherings and Trish was able to meet her granddaughter at the bus stop after school, create works of art with her grandchildren and host nourishing meals for the family. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's shortly before Bill's death, which progressed very quickly after his passing. In her final days, she put down life's armor and became even more connected to those around her as she relied on them for the very things she spent her life providing. We are deeply indebted to the staff at Flagstone in Eden Prairie for caring for her in her final years. Throughout Trish's life, she slowed down and listened to her family and friends, connected to animals, birds, plants and the natural world. Trish had a sixth sense for tuning into the subtleties of life, patience, care and artisanship. She displayed and lived these virtues deeply but did not broadcast them loudly. She was the root structure for her large and flourishing family. Her essence now radiates into the world through her children and grandchildren. She had a strength and resolve that was unwavering, a steely backbone that was the foundation of her family. All of us who were gifted with knowing her will miss her spirit and heart. A funeral service will be at St. Edward the Confessor Episcopal Church in Wayzata, MN on December 16, 2023 at 1:30pm with a reception and celebration of life at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Interfaith Outreach in Plymouth, Minnesota (https://www. iocp. org/). Trish worked with this organization to help support refugees from Iraq in the early 2000s. "Show more
