Edward J. Wojtowicz, 99, husband of the late Gloria Richard Wojtowicz of Cape Coral, FL, formally of Northford CT, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 surrounded by his family in Guilford CT. Ed was born January 27, 1924 in New Bedford, MA and was the son of the late Jozef and Adela Wrubel Wojtowicz. Ed left high school on the outbreak of World War II and joined the United States Navy where he served with pride and honor aboard the USS Kasaan Bay Aircraft Carrier, where he became the chief airplane mechanic. After the war , Edward traveled the country, and eventually enrolled at Spartan Flight School in Kansas, earning his pilot's license. After flight school, Ed came back to Massachusetts, where he met the love of his life, Gloria Richard. They married and settled in Connecticut, where he was the lead Electrical and Mechanical Engineer for Allen Products of Milford, CT for many years before his retirement. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed fishing, flying planes, hanging with the neighbors, a good movie, a good joke and helping friends. He was also an avid reader and kind to all animals Edward is survived by his two daughters: Donna Wojtowicz of Madison and Doreen Wojtowicz-Knight and her husband Skip of Guillford. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 4th from 3 - 5 PM at the Swan Funeral Home 825 Boston Post Rd. , Madison, CT. Burial with full military honors will take place at a later date in Fort Myers, FL. She leaves her beautiful daughter Mia Abarca, her husband Luiz Abarca, sisters Shauna Fitzgerald and Lisa Mulvey and her parents Dan and Nancy Mulvey. You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has livedShe grew up on Beechwood Drive in North Madison termed by her as "The Capital of Madison. " After attending Madison Schools-- Ryerson, Brown, and Hand, she graduated from Providence college, where by many of her family attended. Before she found the love of her life, Luiz Abarca, she delved into various employments, but always showed a love of growing plant life. After their marriage, Luis and Erin began a landscape service. On March 10, 2009, Erin Gave birthto Mia Isabella, a gift from heaven, Because of her mother's talents, Mia became involved in all sorts of crafts, and is presently enrolled in Fryeberg Academy in Maine as a freshman. Erin instilled in everyone a respect for animals especially all her cats, and lately chickens and ducks that produce eggland's best. Erin had the greenest of thumbs. Norma L. DeFanti, 91, of Madison, CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 19, 2023 at Hamden Health Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward DeFanti Sr. of Madison, CT. Norma was born on October 7, 1932 in Chester, CT. She was the daughter of the late Dominick and Dena Tiezzi of Chester, CT and Arezzo, Italy. Norma was pre deceased by her sister Olga Krutsinger, of Old Saybrook, CT, and her brother Donald Tiezzi of Arezzo, Italy, and her granddaughter Shelly Correll of Fredricksburg, VA. Norma was an interior designer for Ethan Allen Furniture for many years, and was often called on to help decorate many of her friends' homes. She was also an Administrative Assistant for the Legg Mason Financial Group in New Haven, CT before her retirement. She was an active member of St. Margaret's Church and sang in the church choir for over 50 years. Because of her amazing voice she was sought out to sing at many weddings, funerals and special occasions. She also took part in many community theater musicals. Family was very important to Norma, and she loved being surrounded by them every chance she had. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, and made FABULOUS gourmet meals for her family and friends. Norma also enjoyed gardening, spending time at the beach, and attending numerous Broadway shows with her husband and friends. Norma had a quiet strength that her family relied on. No matter the occasion Norma took great pride in her appearance and was always dressed to the nines! Norma is survived by her three children; Debra Surprise, (Robert) of Hamden, Susan Correll, (Robert) of Virginia and Ned DeFanti Jr, (Alanna) of Georgia. She is also survived by her sister in law Franca Tiezzi of Arezzo, Italy. Her four grandchildren, Danny, Jeffery, Kevin, Lisa, and Eddie, and her seven great-grandchildren. Stella, Nate, Josh, Beatrix, Marley, Graysen, and Bennett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses, aides and staff at Hamden Health Care for their loving and compassionate care they gave our mom over the many years she lived there. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 2nd from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd. , Madison. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St Margaret's Church, Academy Rd in Madison. Burial will be at West Cemetery in Madison. Sheila Frances Sullivan, 83, a longtime resident of Madison, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2023, surrounded by her family after a long illness. A beloved mother, wife, sister, nana, and friend; she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Sullivan, and her parents Patrick Cannon and Margaret "Peggy" (Owens) Cannon. Sheila was born on August 3, 1940 in Bronx, New York, and was the second of four children. She attended Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, New York. It was there that she met and later married her loving husband Jack. Together they would raise a family, relocating to numerous states, before finally settling in Madison, Connecticut in 1973, where she resided for the last 50 years. When her children grew older, Sheila would re-enter the labor force beginning as a teacher's assistant at Kathleen E. Goodwin Elementary School in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. She went on to become the Social Program Director at Fowler Nursing Center in Guilford, Connecticut, before accepting her final position as the Transportation Director, (District 9 Transit) at the Estuary Council of Senior Citizens in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. She greatly enjoyed her position at The Estuary and contributed in various capacities up until her retirement. From there, Sheila would continue to be of service to her family, friends, and community. She enjoyed spending time and caring for her three grandchildren. She actively volunteered at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, the Madison Senior Center, and A Better Chance (ABC) ACT II thrift shop. She particularly loved her dogs, walking the shoreline beaches, attending church, bird watching, playing on her bocce ball league, reading a great book, taking in the theater, watching Husky hoops, cheering for the Yankees, enjoying a good cup of hot tea, and perhaps nothing more than a bowl of her favorite ice cream! Selfless and content with life's simple pleasures, Sheila was most happy to be spending time with friends and family. Her vivacious spirit and quick, Irish humor were always on display. Generous and fun to be around, Sheila always took great pleasure in making others laugh, and her memory will always be cherished. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sullivan of Seattle, WA; daughter, Kathleen Frawley (John) of Ossining, NY; daughter, Sheila Archambeault (Jesse) of West Hartford, CT; son, Sean Sullivan of West Hartford, CT; son, Kevin Sullivan of Madison, CT along with her three grandchildren: Jack, Kate, and Kenon Archambeault. She also leaves behind her sister, Patricia Spring of Texas, her brother, Sean Cannon of Long Island, NY, and her sister, Moira Nemmers of Virginia, and many nieces and nephews along with her dear friends. In keeping with Sheila's wishes, there will be a private Memorial Service with family. Marilyn C. Noyes, 87, of Madison, CT passed away peacefully on Thursday November 2, 2023 at Madison House, Madison CT with her daughter by her side. Marilyn was born on August 21, 1936 in New Haven, CT to Harry and Christine (McDonald) Coyle. Marilyn was a graduate of West Haven High School Her career took her to SNET as a secretary in the mobile unit where she was a dedicated employee for 35 years. In addition to earning awards for her exemplary work, she made lots of great friends with whom she worked with during this time. Marilyn was passionate about planning her West Haven High School class reunions through the years with friends that lasted a lifetime. She was a member of the Newcomers Club of Madison in the 1960s and 70s where she especially enjoyed putting on clambakes. Marilyn would spend her summer weekends at Garvan Point in Madison from sunrise to sunset grilling, swimming, and sailing with beloved friends and family. Marilyn also loved to give back to her community. She was recognized for giving over 20 gallons of blood for the American Red Cross. She also made generous donations to the Wounded Warrior Project. Upon becoming a grandmother, Marilyn was extremely devoted to and adored her only grandson, Drew. Whether it was his tennis games or enjoying his company at Cedar Island Marina or taking trips to Newport while Drew was attending college, Marilyn never missed an opportunity to see her grandson grow up. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Karen (Noyes) Marzano, son in-law Andrew Marzano and grandson Drew Noyes Marzano of Clinton, CT. and a brother Richard Coyle of Beacon Falls, CT. She also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Harry Coyle and former husband Robert J. Noyes. Visitation will be Friday, November 10, from 10am - 12:30pm at Swan Funeral Home in Madison.
