Eva Mae Steward Miles

Eva Mae Miles entered eternal life on Monday February 19, 2024, at the age of 71. Daughter of the late Willie Jack Steward and Lubertha Wright Steward she was born on February 20, 1952, in New Orleans, LA. Eva came from a Christian family and accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age. She was educated in the Orleans Parish School System and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. On March 16, 1968, Eva married the love of her life and soul mate Samuel Miles III affectionately known as “June”. To this union three children were born and cherished, Bridget Marie, Samuel IV, and Kenneth Michael Miles. Eva’s dedication as a mother and a wife was adoring. Eva, June, and the children were a close-knit unit. They did everything together, weekly wrestling matches, fishing, and weekly neighborhood celebrations. She was employed for over 20 years at NAPA Auto parts and for over 16 years at Walmart in the bakery department. Eva loved unconditionally, she was the life of the party, the family gumbo scientist and was always there for everyone. Preceding Eva in death were her parents Rev. Wille Jack and Lubertha Steward her husband of twenty-eight years Samuel “June” Miles III, three brothers John, Willie, and Ronald Steward, one daughter-in-law Jaquita Hollaway, two grandsons Kenneth M. Miles Jr. and Levi Miles, and one granddaughter Si’Ane Eva Miles. Her loving memory will live through her three children Bridget Marie, Samuel IV (Philis) and Kenneth Michael Miles, Ravien Veal (Troy)-raised as a daughter, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 expected great grandchild, 2 sisters Velma Ashford and Diana Johnson-Talbert (Henry) 2 brothers Robert and Phillip Steward, 1 sister-in-law Linda Steward and 1 Aunt Elizabeth Cole (Alexander), along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish and share her memories. Leroy Joseph Duhé Jr, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 71. Leroy was born on February 20, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas to Leroy Joseph Duhe Sr. and Joyce Marie Duhe. Leroy is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Karen Finney Duhé, and his three children Jenny Robards (Jason), Katie Staiger (William), and Benjamin Duhe. In addition to his children, Leroy is survived by his cherished grandchildren Charles Robards, Salvador Robards, Clara Robards, Olivia Staiger, Luke Staiger, and Zachary Snow, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his siblings Janet Okman, Coye Howell (Terry), and Daniel Duhe (Betty). He is predeceased by his brother the late Michael Duhe. Leroy was also a beloved uncle to a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leroy was a successful manufacturer’s rep in the furniture industry for over 40 years. His life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family and his passion for serving others. Leroy found fulfillment in spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as PawPaw, always striving to put smiles on their faces and create lasting memories. Throughout his life, Leroy was known for his culinary skills, delighting friends and family with delicious meals. He was an avid golfer and a devoted fan of LSU sports, never missing an opportunity to cheer on the purple and gold. Above all, Leroy will be remembered for his kind and loving nature. His genuine warmth touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Leroy's legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by all. Michael "Mike" Sean McCleery passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the age of 49. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Carol Fewell McCleery; his daughters Erin (Mack) and Brigid "Bitsy" McCleery; his mother Linda and stepfather Michael Dugar; his stepbrother Trevor Miller (Amy); many cousins, nieces, nephews, and very dear friends; and his best furry friend, Benji "The Big Guy." He is preceded in death by his father Douglas Lane McCleery; his uncle Patrick Kelly Holmes; his grandparents Norma Kathleen Beckman and George James Holmes; his grandparents Ann and John McCleery; his aunt Barbara McCleery Alex; and his first furry friend Fern Josephine. A resident of New Orleans, LA, he was born in St. Louis Park, MN, and grew up in Minneapolis, MN. He was a proud graduate of Christ the King Catholic School, Academy of Holy Angels, Normandale Community College, and Loyola University New Orleans. In 1998, Mike moved to Louisiana to join the New Orleans Police Department. His 25 years of incredible service spanned across the 6th, 7th, and 8th Districts, Investigative Services Bureau (ISB), Public Integrity Bureau (PIB), and his favorite, Homicide. He was notably featured on two episodes of A&E’s show "The First 48" and received a Letter of Commendation from the Slidell Police Department for his investigative work on one of several homicide cases that were shown on the show. Mike was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Crescent City Lodge #2 and a former board member of the Police Association of New Orleans. He will forever be remembered for his serious "police" face yet infectious and dimpled smile, cheesy dad jokes, his ability to remember every movie quote known to man and his love for his Irish heritage. Anyone who knew Mike knew he was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and was lucky enough to see them win the World Series in 2016 and loved the New Orleans Saints. Despite never having sons, he instilled his love for sports and good movies, specifically Star Wars, in his daughters. Special thanks to Collin Arnold, Jeff Jacob, Robert "Bob" Bachelder, Nicholas "Nick" Gernon, and many others for being such true friends to Mike and supporting him. He had an extremely distinguished career as a detective and a police officer and left a lasting impact on everyone’s life he came into contact with. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, cousin, and friend. Mike will be missed by many and loved forever. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Woodland Presbyterian Church, 5824 Berkley Dr, New Orleans, LA, 70131 on Thursday, March 7, 2024 starting at 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. Betty Jean Bridgeman Bravo

Betty Jean Bridgeman Bravo passed away on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 at the age of 91. Betty told her family that she would hold on until her newest great- grandchild was born, and she died within a matter of hours prior to the baby’s birth. She will be greatly missed by her family who adored her, friends who loved her, and many people whose lives she impacted in such a beautiful way.Betty was born on September 7, 1932, to Clinton Bridgeman and Genevieve Madere Bridgeman. She has one sibling, Linda Bragg. She attended St. Dominic for elementary school and attended a year at Sacred Heart in high school, later graduating from Holy Name of Jesus. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Education. She was an active member of the Phi Mu Sorority, serving as their Vice President for a year, and was even nominated as a "Darling" during her time at LSU. She began her career in the Orleans Parish Public School system and then taught at Kehoe France before devoting her time to becoming a stay-at-home mom.Betty married Louis Bravo in New Orleans and they celebrated a beautiful 64-year marriage. Lou passed away on September 15 th , 2019 and Betty greatly missed him. Lou and Betty had five children: Bruce (sp. Elvira), Elizabeth (sp. Bruce), Clinton (sp. Mary), David (sp. Michele), and Steven who preceded her in death. They had nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.In her 91 years, Betty Bravo was a lifelong learner who always had a new project or hobby. She and Lou had many adventures together including traveling to Elderhostels, taking scholar-audited college classes at UNO, and taking additional video courses from the library. Betty was an avid reader who belonged to two book clubs and her favorite author was Ernest Hemingway. She was also a passionate gardener who loved to grow vegetables in her backyard and she stayed active throughout her life with yoga and riding bikes. Betty loved art as well and served as a master docent for New Orleans Museum of Art. Beyond art, Betty was a huge LSU baseball fan and had the best time cheering on the Tigers as they won the College World Series last year.Betty had a heart for service and volunteered at Food for Friends, delivering meals to AIDS patients. She was also a charter member of Mother Earth organization.Betty Bravo’s family invites you to join them in celebrating her life. Please attend with your best Betty stories. The Funeral Mass and burial will be held on Monday, March 4 th , 2024 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457.
