Harold William (Mike) Anderson, of Colorado Springs CO, passed away on November 17, 2023 peacefully in his sleep. Harold/Mike was born on April 24, 1933 to Roy and Thusie Anderson in Limo Linda California. After Mike graduated from Redlands High School in 1950, he went on to study history and education at Stanford University in California. Mike stayed pretty busy at Stanford participating in both the football and the Air Force ROTC programs. After completing an undergraduate degree in history and a masters in education he entered the Air Force, kickstarting a 25 year career in the military. He was a decorated pilot and a patient teacher. Well loved by those who flew with him and were educated by him. In 1982 Mike retired from the Air Force and spent his time working on and improving the family home in Black Forest CO. Trimming trees, building a house, and taking care of the various animals that resided there. Mike was predeceased by his parents Roy B Anderson and, Thusie B Anderson, and two grandsons Jerry Anderson and Oliver Elston. He is survived by his brothers Ben Anderson and Roy Anderson, his sister Patricia Cole, his wife Janet Anderson, daughters Elizabeth Slay and Victoria Jardon, and sons Michael Anderson, Gary Anderson and Timothy Anderson. He was a very proud Papa with 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Northwoods Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne WY on January 6, 2024 at 11 in the morning. Born on June 15, 1937, in Scandia, Pennsylvania. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, grandmother, aunt and cherished friend, leaving an indelible impact on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Roberta's marriage to her beloved spouse, Charles Schmidt, was a testament to enduring love and partnership of 66 years. As a mother, Roberta poured her heart and soul into raising her children, Kimberly and Karla. She loved her son in law David, Karla's partner Robin, granddaughters, Kourtney and Kendall and her great grandchildren Karley, Nolan, Kamryn and Nia with all her heart. A celebration of Roberta's life will be held on December 12, 2023 at 10 am at Swan Law Funeral Home (501 North Cascade Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903) with a reception and burial to follow at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery. Carolyn Ann (Meriwether) Armstrong was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 18 th ,1953, to the late Clifford Clarence Meriwether, Sr. and Rose Ann (Clay) Edmonds. At avery young age it was apparent Carolyn was a special young lady, a devoted daughterand a positive example to her younger siblings. She truly loved her family, adored hergrandmother, friends and humbly dedicated her life to the service of others, whileseeking nothing in return. Carolyn graduated from East High School in Des Moines, IA. She continued hereducation and received her bachelor's degree from Central College in Pella, IA. and hermaster's degree from the University of Phoenix. Carolyn met her husband, Henry, in 1996 and they were united in marriage on June 28,1997, in Colorado Springs, spending 26 years together nurturing and growing their lovefor one another. Carolyn proudly taught the 1 st and 2 nd grades during her 32-year tenure at MontereyElementary School in Colorado Springs. She absolutely enjoyed cultivating youngenthusiastic minds. She was also voted Teacher of the Year in 2003. Carolyn was a dedicated member of True Spirit Baptist Church for many years andcontinued her gift of instruction by teaching the adult Sunday School class. It was in thishouse of worship she formed many friendships that spanned across countless years. Carolyn was a HUGE Denver Broncos fan. When she wasn't cheering for her team ongame day, you would find her relaxing with a good book or listening to R&B and gospelmusic. Carolyn was also a member of one of the oldest Greek-lettered organizationsestablished by African American, college educated women, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,Inc. (AKA). Carolyn went peacefully to her eternal home on November 29 th , 2023. She joins bothher father, Clifford Clarence and her mother Rose Ann along with maternal and paternalgrandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. Carolyn's memory continues to live on through her loving husband, Henry Armstrong,Jr. of Colorado Springs. Her doting stepfather, Robert Edmonds of Des Moines, IA. Richard (Dick) was born in Elwood, Kansas - April 29,1931 to Ottis Leo Dailey and Amy Marshall Dailey. He left this life in peace to join his Heavenly Father November 24,1923 He was predeceased by two brothers in infancy, wife Dixie Lee Hayes Dailey, son Stephen Lee Dailey and is survived by his son Mark Dailey, Grandson Samual Brock Dailey (Jules), along with numerous cousins and distant relatives. He attended Elwood Kansas High School and graduated Central High School, St. Joseph, Missouri then continued his education at St. Joseph, MO Junior College in Business Administration. After serving in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict he married and moved to Colorado Springs in 1953 to begin a career in Banking. During his career he attended several Banking schools and Seminars at Harvard University, Ohio University, and Graduated from the Graduate School of Banking School at University of Colorado, Boulder, and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He retired as Senior Vice President from Wells Fargo Bank after 40 years in banking with experience in all phases of banking including Consumer lending, Trust Department, International Banking, Commercial Banking, Investments, and senior management. He was active in the community serving on many boards and committees including three local banks, Colo. Springs Chamber of Commerce, Colo. Springs Economic Development Committee, Industrial Bond Committee, Downtown Development Committee, Pikes Peak United Way, American Red Cross, Pikes Peak Family Counseling and Mental Health Association, Colorado Springs/ El Paso County Drainage Board, Broadmoor Community Church Board of Trustees, Broadmoor Community Church Foundation, LaScala Homeowners Association. He was a Member of Colorado Springs Country Club, Garden of the Gods Club, Robert Morris Association, Argonauts, Knights of the Round Table, Winter Night Club, World Affairs Council, American Legion Post 5 (70+ yrs. ), Old Colorado City Historical Society, and Volunteered for the local chapter Alzheimer's Association for many years and in many areas including facilitating Support Groups. Throughout life he enjoyed woodworking, nature, hiking, biking, bird watching, boating, Square Dancing, bowling and traveling. Later in life his go-to's were mountain drives to experience the magic of the changing seasons and all the beauty of Colorado, checkers, bingo, and (his favorite) cornhole! His purpose in life was to help others and felt he had done so by serving on the many boards & committees of the community, establishing the Bereavement Team and Alzheimer's Support Group at Broadmoor Community church, working in a bank as a loan officer helping borrowers achieve their dreams and goals in life. For example, he financed the first Wendy's in Colorado Springs and the first MRI machine to be used in the city among thousands of other notable contributions throughout the community and county. Edward (Ed) Kerwin Hoepner died December 1, 2023, peacefully at his home surrounded by family at age 81. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Gerald and Virginia Hoepner; raised on a farm outside of Reinbeck, where he loved working alongside his dad. He graduated from High school in 1961. He played the trombone in school, was on the football team. While stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, Ed served as an aircraft mechanic. It was during that time he placed his faith in Christ Jesus as Savior. That faith became the guiding factor of his life. He met his wife of 59 years, Marie Ihmels, there and they later had three children; Kristine (Kris), Gerald (Jerry), and Brenda. He taught Industrial Arts at Bowdle High School in South Dakota after he graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1970 and North American Baptist Seminary in 1972. Ed and Marie served as missionaries in Cameroon and Nigeria, West Africa, 1973-1980. Ed worked as business manager of the General/Leprosy hospital in Cameroon. There he helped establish an industrial trade school and was a teacher of Theological Education by Extension. The Hoepners moved to Ames, Iowa, after the mission field; there they were active members of the First Evangelical Free Church, where they volunteered with International Students Incorporated (ISI), befriending international students at the university. ISI is what brought them to Colorado Springs to serve at the ISI headquarters. Soon after moving to Colorado, Ed began work as a Civil Engineering Tech at NORAD until his retirement in 2006. Ed and Marie enjoyed travel, especially to partner with and encourage Christian missions around the world. They traveled to New Mexico, Poland, India, Egypt, Costa Rica, Haiti, Mexico City, Alaska, and Cameroon. Ed also enjoyed exploring locally with friends and family on many camping and four wheel drive trips. Ed volunteered at many service organizations, where he put to use his training and certifications in HAM radio, chaplaincy, mechanical knowledge, and emergency response. The organizations he partnered with include Civil Air Patrol, Mercy's Gate, Citizens Emergency Response Team, El Paso County Sheriff Chaplain Corps, and the Special Communications Unit (SCU) and their vehicle. He helped establish the local chapter of the International Fellowship of Chaplains. He was often among the first to volunteer, putting to use his unique ability to problem solve, build, and create one-of-a-kind solutions. Ed was an active member of Faith Evangelical Free Church, serving in the men's ministry, missions committee, leadership positions, and the AWANA program. He was a man of faith who believed in prayer. He listened to the needs of others and prayed for them in their times of trouble and distress. Later in life, he learned much about accompanying people in grief and sorrow. He spent much time in his chair praying for others. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and two children; Kris Jaeger and Jerry Hoepner. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Hoepner; daughter, Brenda (Jeff Wright); son-in-law, Paul Jaeger; daughter-in-law Melissa Hoepner; and three grandchildren, Micah Wright, Elsa Wright, and Quinn Hoepner; and sisters: Leanne Puglielli, Gayle Hoepner, and Mary Jo Hoepner. A Memorial service and reception will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024, 11 a. m. at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 6065 Oakwood Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80923. Elaine Marie Glover, 86, passed away on November 29, 2023 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on the family farm in Pierson, Iowa on June 29, 1937 to Irene Reimenschnieder Schmidt and John Alvin Schmidt. Elaine was married to Carlyle for 64 years, and they raised three sons and a daughter at various Air Force stations throughout the U. S. She worked for El Paso County in the Treasurer's office and as the Benefits Administrator for county employees for 25 years. She stayed busy with Scouting as a Silver Beaver Scout leader, church groups, her Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and organizing the varied activities the kids were involved in. She loved playing (and winning) card games and board games, bowling league, camping and fishing with the family, singing in the church choir, and spending lots of time visiting with extended family and friend groups. After retiring, she and Carlyle traveled the country and parts of Canada in their RV. They were avid members of the Family Campers and RVers, and the Excel Campers of Colorado. She is preceded in death by her mother, Irene Alma Schmidt; father, John Alvin Schmidt; and brothers, Harold Schmidt and Elden Schmidt. She is survived by her husband, Carlyle Glover; sons, Kevin (Marilyn) Glover, Brian (Tracy) Glover, Paul Glover; daughter, Marie (Gerry Herbst) Glover; granddaughter Bonnye (Colin) McCoy; grandsons Bryce Glover, David (Deadra) Krieger, and Christian Glover; and great-grandchildren Ava and Daxon McCoy, and Xander, Destry, and Katarina Krieger.
