Linda F. Purdon, 79, of Pompton Lakes, NJ, passed away October 3, 2023. She is survived by her son Shawn Gibbons; her step-son, Robert W. Purdon, Jr. and his wife Donna; her step-daughters, Diane McSwieney and her husband Anthony and Andrea McCoy and her husband Thomas; her grandchildren Krystle, Robert III, Kathleen, Rebecca, Alyssa, Kaitlynn, Michael, Christopher, Ryan, Megan and Matthew; and her great-grandchildren Leland, Landen, Harper and Winry. Linda was predeceased by her husband Robert Purdon, her son Kevin Gibbons and her sister Eileen Lamkin. Linda was laid to rest with her husband, Robert during a private service for the family.

Ann Marie Devanney (Barberie), age 79, of Pompton Lakes passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023 with family by her side. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was born in Hartford, Connecticut on November 14, 1943. Ann Marie was the daughter of Anna (Rooney) and John Douglas Barberie. She was raised in Windsor Locks, Connecticut and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1960. Fulfilling her dream of becoming a nurse, Ann Marie graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut in 1963 as one of their youngest graduates. She enjoyed a distinguished 49-year career in nursing. In the early years, she was an Open Heart Intensive Care Registered Nurse in Connecticut when this specialty was emerging. Later in her career, she focused on geriatric nursing in several administrative positions including Director of Nursing at several facilities in New Jersey. One of her favorite activities was being involved in her church and community. She was elected Vice President of the original St. Mary's Seniors of Pompton Lakes where she assumed the duties of President when needed and made wellness calls to fellow seniors. Friends and neighbors saw her as an uplifting bright spark who enjoyed dancing and singing. Her Catholic faith, love of nature, good food, and reading, especially historical fiction, were important parts of her life. Much of her joy came from being with others, especially her five grandsons. Truly a lifelong learner, Ann Marie enjoyed cultural highlights wherever she went. Some of her favorite places to visit with family were New York City, the Connecticut shoreline, Misquamicut Beach, Rhode Island, Cape May, New Jersey, Maine, Alaska, Germany, Ireland and Australia. Preceded in death by her parents and three older brothers, John, David and Thomas, Ann Marie is survived by five children, Amybeth Richardson and her husband COL(R) Gordon Richardson, Alison Davis, Colleen Reichard, Douglas Devanney, Patrick Devanney, nephew Peter Barberie and husband Virgil Marti, and many cousins and nieces. She also leaves five grandsons, Benjamin Richardson and wife Taylor, Ethan Richardson, Firefighter Liam Davis, 2LT Lucas Davis and Joshua Reichard, and two great-grandchildren, Haeden and Mackenzie. Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, November 17 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Saturday, November 18 at St. Mary's RC Church, Pompton Lakes. Gifts can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.Show more

Dora Armellino (Rovento), age 100, of Pittsboro, North Carolina - formerly of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023. Born in West New York, New Jersey, on July 7, 1922, Dora worked as an embroiderer and later for Meals on Wheels, but she dedicated most of her life to raising her children. Truly a professional homemaker, Dora was a wizard with an iron, meticulously pressing shirts for her family until the age of 98. She was also a fantastic cook and was well known for her amazing Sunday "gravy" and meatballs. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Armellino in 1983 and 16 siblings, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia Dinicola and her husband Edward, her son, John Armellino, and her brother Frank Rovento. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Nicholas Armellino and his wife, Amy; Patrick Dinicola and his wife Karen; John Armellino and his wife Christina, Edward Dinicola and his husband Javier; Lauren Annicelli and her husband Robert; and six great-grandchildren Olivia & William Dinicola, Nicholas & Roman Armellino, and Sophia & Luca Annicelli. ObituaryIris S. Osborn of Wainscott, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on the morning ofApril 18th2022 at the age of 87. Iris grew up in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, the only child of Felix and Dorothea (Dotty) Streit. She attended Packard Junior College and Hunter College. She worked as a legal secretary as ayoung adult, working at the US Trustee Company of Wall Street, at the Institute of InternationalEducation which administers the Fulbright Program, and at the grievance board of the BarAssociation. She married Lawrance Osborn in 1965, moved to Wainscott and stepped into the role of afarmer's wife. While the children were young, she would spend hours in her backyard vegetablegarden and summer days at the beach just around the corner down Beach Lane. She was a troopleader, (cookie chairman at one point) and den mother over the years. She started a farmstandwhich was located on Montauk Highway in Sagaponack and later on Main Street in Wainscottadjacent to the farm house. When her children were older, Iris worked as a real estate agent, later attaining a broker'slicense, she worked as a bank teller in East Hampton, and spent some time as a home health aide. She was very social and seemed to know everyone. She had a remarkable memory and wouldrecall the names of people she met briefly as well as the names of their children and enumerablefacts about them. Iris was very involved in the local community. She was a member of the Wainscott AdvisoryCommittee for many years (an honorary member right up until she passed). She served on theSchool Board for the Wainscott Union Free School. (As she put it, her "husband's family hasbeen going to that school for 200 years") She was also a member of the Wainscott SewingSociety. And she served on the East Hampton Town Planning Board. She volunteered at theLVIS bookstore and would usher for the performances at Guild Hall in the early 1980's. Iris was an avid bridge player, a member of two groups for a time, one in Wainscott and one inEast Hampton. She was a voracious reader, reading several books a month. She also really lovedto travel, planning family road trips in the US in the 70's and 80's with the help of a AAA"triptik" and later travelling the world with her husband. She is survived by her husband, Lawrance L. Osborn, her children Anna Osborn, Lori Osbornand Elisha (Jocelyn) Osborn, her grandchildren Jani (William) Jensen, Carmen (Erich) Walker,Brianna (Joshua) Shultz, Maximillian Osborn, Jack Kimmelmann, Gabriella Osborn and EvelynOsborn, and great grandchildren Magdalena, Lily and Annika. There will be a viewing at the Yardley Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton from 5pm to 8pm onSaturday April 30th. A graveside service at the Wainscott Cemetary is planned at 1pm at theWainscott Cemetery followed by a reception at the Wainscott Chapel.
