Edward E. Weitekamp age 90, of Raymond, died on Friday February 2, 2024 in Raymond at his home surrounded by family. Ed was born the son of Edward J. and Josephine (Kallal) Weitekamp on June 16, 1933 in Raymond, IL. He married Wilma Oller at St. Mary's in Taylorville on July 13, 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He attended St. Raymond's Catholic Church and was a 70 year member of St. Raymond's K of C Council 4696, For many years he served as a Trustee for the Raymond-Harvel Fire Dist. He was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer. After returning home from being in the service and as a result of the training that he received, Ed started a machine shop that many area Farmers used and relied on him to make that hard to find part or make the needed repair to keep them going. He is survived by his wife Wilma, and 4 children Debra (Mark) Forbes of Morrisonville, Julie (David Doane) Cassidy of Newburgh, IN, Greg (Raquel) Weitekamp of Raymond and Patrick (Bella) Weitekamp of Kansas City and 9 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Gerard Weitekamp, Also preceding him are; brothers Charles, Robert, Francis and sisters Elizabeth Connor and JoAnn Watson and 2 grandchildren. Memorials can be directed to the St. Raymond Cemetery or Masses A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond, IL with Fr. Florent officiating. A Rosary will be said at 3:30pm on February 7, 2024 at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond. Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 7, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. also at St. Raymond's Church Burial will be in the St. Raymond Cemetery in Raymond, IL. Doris J. Krake passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the age of 93. The family has planned a private family memorial with burial at Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico. Daughter of Dae and Sara Waltman, Doris graduated from Elmira High School and from Houghton College in New York (B.S.) and from Sangamon State University in Illinois (M.S.). After her marriage to Wesley J. Krake in 1957, she and Wes lived in California, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her two brothers, and her great-grandson. She is survived by her children, Ken (wife, Diana) Krake; Karen (husband,Rick) Brown; Sara (husband, Danny) Sadler; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Ruth; and many nieces and nephews. Doris spent the majority of her life teaching. She was an elementary teacher in Los Angeles, California and in Springfield, Illinois. While teaching at Jane Addams Elementary, she was selected as the best elementary school teacher in the 1987 Illinois Times - Best of Springfield edition. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge of all things fabric with others. Doris taught quilting classes and was a founding guild member of Q.U.I.L.T.S (Quilters United In Learning, Teaching and Self Improvement). She also shared her passion for history with her students and her community. She spent time as a volunteer at Clayville Historic Site, giving others the opportunity to step back in time and experience patchwork and quilting. Doris was an active member of Knox Knolls Free Methodist Church in Springfield. She taught Sunday School and played piano for many years. She enjoyed traveling across the country and visiting family. Debra L. Garrison,age 64, of Kincaid, formerly of Raymond/Harvel, died Friday, November 24, 2023, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Visitation will be from 4-7 p. m. Tuesday, November, 28, at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday November 29, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Providence Cemetery in Waggoner. Mrs. Garrison was born in Olive Branch, MS on March. 16,1959, the daughter of Everett Granville, Sr. and Betty Francis Heaston Masten. She married Floyd W. Garrison in Girard on Dec. 20, 1975, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2014. She worked for Raymond Fertilizer as a Bookkeeper for over 15 years and then for Bunn Debbie enjoyed; playing cards, crocheting, coloring, and spending time with family. It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Ed Traylor, beloved husband, father, grandpa, and friend to many. Ed, aged 79 of Atwater, passed away October 22, 2023, in Louisiana, while in a boating accident on a fishing trip. Charles "Ed" Edward Traylor was born on August 22, 1944, to his parents Lee and Betty (Nemeth) Traylor in Springfield, Illinois. Ed grew up in a Girard graduating from Girard High School. He went on to earn his B. A. in Social Justice from Sangamon State University in Springfield and also graduated from the F. B. I. National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, then they made Carlinville their home. Ed married Pat McAnarney the love of his life, on July 25, 1964, and together they had two girls, Lori and Angie. Ed was able to retire in 1996 with the rank of Captain after 29 years of service with the Illinois State Police. Throughout those years of dedication to his career, Ed served as patrolman, investigator, investigative supervisor, bureau chief, and staff officer. Though retired, Ed later served as police chief of Carlinville Police Department, and in 2000, was hired by the Macoupin County Probation Department. Later that same year, he was hired by the state police as a contractual investigator for the Federal Health Care Fraud Task Force under the Department of Justice. He retired from there in June of 2009. He enjoyed his retirement, filling it by spending time with his family, going on fishing trips with friends, watching his grandchildren blossom into the young adults they are, and eventually enjoying his passion of becoming an author. He wrote his first novel, The Crossing, in 2015. This book was cited by the Public Safety Writers Association 2015 Writing Competition in the non-published fiction category. Ed later wrote his second novel, Choices, in 2020. Ed was very proud and passionate about the novels he wrote. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), NRA and the Republican Party. Ed is survived by his wife Pat Traylor; daughters Lori (Kyle Wilson) Traylor of Dallas, Texas and Angie Traylor of Atwater and a "son" Gary Foster of Virden; grandchildren Kelsey and Luke Hickman. Ed is also survived by his brothers Rick Nemeth of California and Mike Nemeth of Idaho, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorthea Anderson, and a brother Gary Nemeth. A visitation for Ed Traylor will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 10:00 - 12:00 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Farmersville, Illinois. A funeral mass will follow at 12:00 on Monday with Fr. Gregory Michael Bierman, 62 of Raymond, IL passed away Saturday morning, August 12, 2023, flying his homemade airplane, which he dearly loved to fly. Gregory was born August 7, 1961, in Effingham, IL, a son of Arthur and Marcella Harmon Bierman. Greg graduated from Dieterich High School with the class of 1977. He attended Eastern Illinois University where he graduated with an accounting degree in accounting and went on to become a CPA. Greg married the love of his life, Cindy Bushur, on July 7, 1984 in Sigel, IL. After working for a brief stint in Florida, they moved to Litchfield where he worked as a CPA for a couple of local accounting firms before eventually starting his own practice. They settled on a farm near Barnett, where they raised three wonderful kids. Greg was an enterprising and brilliant man full of good humor and many hobbies. He was extremely hardworking and taught himself to be a jack-of-all trades. His favorite things to do were flying his airplane, operating his excavator, making improvements around the farm, enjoying a fine cigar, boating on the Mississippi River, and spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, IL. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Joe Koyickal presiding. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.
