Mary Lou Perkins, age 96, formerly of Columbia, Missouri passed away on December 7, 2023, in Lakewood, Colorado with family at her side. Visitation will be held at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with the service to follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary Lou, the youngest of nine children, was born on November 24, 1927, in the Hallsville, Missouri area to William and Mattie Ray. She was a graduate of Hickman High School. Mary Lou married Fred Perkins on September 14, 1946, and they raised three children. She lived in Columbia, Missouri until 2019 when she relocated to Lakewood, Colorado to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Richard Hucker. Mary Lou worked for the Columbia Public School System for many years as the secretary for Rock Bridge Elementary School. She served numerous principals, scores of children and, on occasion, the children of children who had attended Rock Bridge. She retired in 1991 after which she and Fred purchased a 5th wheel trailer and began a new life of adventure exploring the country, resulting in many funny stories. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 2001 and her son Mike Perkins, in 2014. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Ray and husband, Bruce, of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; and Carol Hucker and her husband, Richard, of Lakewood, Colorado. She is survived by five grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. FREDERICK GENE PEARSON, 74 of lakewood colorado rolled on from his life on November 29, 2023. He was born April 6, 1949 to Wade and Burnelda Pearson in Hastings Nebraska. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years Mary Pearson, His 3 daughters, Carol (Lance) Garretson, Christine (Mark) Kuhr, Debie schmidt and his sister Kathy (Kenny) Anderson, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Fred will be greatly missed by his 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren Ceceilia (Brad) Lenkiewicz and thier 2 children, Cassandra (Justin) Miller and their 4 children, Courtney (Alex) Torrez and their many children (Guinea pigs), Justin (Tamara) Anderson and thier son, Marty Pearson and his 2 sons, Thomas (Amber) Francis and their 3 children, Lennon MacKenzie and her son, Amber (Josh) Vigil and their 5 children, Krista (Clay) Matus and their 2 fur babies. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and brothers Richard (Dick) and Robert (Bob) Pearson. Fred was a truck driver, teacher, and a jack of all trades a master of none. He spent 30 years driving cross country, 8 years at Arapahoe country road and bridge, 5 years at center of transportation, teaching kids to get their cdl's, before he retired. Fred loved his family, fishing, flea market and farting around. He also enjoyed working on anything with a motor and tinkering around the garage. Delores (Lori) Marie Neumiller, of Golden, CO passed away on Saturday November 25,2023 at 8:40pm at the age of 81. Born on April 14, 1942 to Catherine and Mike Aberle in Trail City SD, Delores was the middle of 13 total; Mike Jr. , Dorothy, Pauline, Jim, Joe, Tim, Leo, Nick, Steve, Lucy, Marjorie and Trish. Delores is survived by her husband Gary James Neumiller. Delores and Gary met in 1959 and they were married in 1960, daughter, Shelley was born soon after. 3 years later, son Darren (married to Carrie Neumiller) was born. The four moved to Golden, CO in 1969. In 1972, they moved to their permanent home where they would live out their lives and welcomed 7 grandchildren: Jessica Stermer (Troy,TX), Tiphanie Karas (Walnut Creek CA), Magdalena Colpitts (Lakewood CO), Samantha Neumiller (Parker, CO), Kayla Cole (Thornton, CO), Benjamin Neumiller (Golden, CO), and Marqez Neumiller (Arvada, CO). As the years passed 10 great-grand-children would join the family. Delores' pride and joy was her family, from siblings, to in-laws, grandchildren to great grandchildren, she was happiest, surrounded by family. Delores, a social butterfly, always enjoyed a good "visit" with friends. She had a close nit group of gal pals for decades and was always up for an adventure and good time. Whether it was traveling to see the ice castles, taking flight in a hot air balloon, traveling, galavanting around in a field of sunflowers or simply just playing marbles and cards at home, friends and socializing were always very important to her. Werner Robert Slocum Werner Robert Slocum, age 59, passed away on November 24, 2023 at Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. Werni or Vern, as he was known to many friends, passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke. His wife, Christie, and sister, Erika, were by his side. Vern graduated from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 1986. He later went on to work for The Morning Sun and The Ledger Star. He freelanced for many newspapers in the Midwest and organizations including The Detroit News, Detroit Free Press and the Associated Press. He was also a photo instructor at Michigan State University and a photo advisor for MSU’s newspaper, The State News. Eventually, Colorado was on the horizon, a place he loved to vacation and ski. He moved to Colorado in 2000. Vern worked at Colorado Printing, The Rocky Mountain News, The Denver Post and most recently he was a photographer for The National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. Living in Colorado provided a window of opportunity for Vern’s love of photography. Vern enjoyed being outdoors hiking, camping, snowshoeing, mountain biking, kayaking and photographing the changing seasons, mountains and wildlife. He was an amazing photographer and had a keen sense of humor. He always made people laugh. As a final gift, Vern’s corneas were donated to help two people regain their sight. Vern was the most loving husband, brother and son. He is survived by his wife, Christie, his mother, Ursula Sembach and step-father, Dave, his sister, Erika Schiffer, and her children, Kaelin and Alex. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Slocum. Vern is also survived by his step-siblings Kim Cavanah, Keel Arlia, Kage Cavanah, Kohl Cavanah, Shawn Sembach, Scott Sembach, and their spouses and children. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Vern’s wishes were to be cremated. A special time has been set up to allow his dogs to view him before cremation. This includes Myka, his beloved Siberian husky, Ranger and Murphy. Celebrations of life will take place at a later date.
