Linda Renee (Voik) Van Drei, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at her home. Born on June 17, 1941 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of George and Ruth (Welty) Thur and lived in Cuyahoga County most of her life. She graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1959Prior to her retirement, Linda worked many years as a secretary for Sherwin Williams. A member of the Brook Park-Berea VFW Post #6676 Auxiliary, reading and visiting the Lakewood Public Library were her favorite pastimes. She loved the color purple but nothing was more important to her than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Linda is survived by her children, Georgeann (Guy) Loeber of Madison and John Thur of Erie, PA; five grandchildren, Phillip Matthew (fiance' Celia Torres) Van Drei, Timothy Christopher (Heather) Van Drei, Alyssa Renee (Nick) Del Monico, Nicole Elizabeth Loeber, and Lucas William (Lexi) Loeber; 12 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Christian, Madelynn, David, Kaylynn, Wyatt, Mason, Kylee, Remington, Braxton, Phoenix, and Oakley; and two sisters, Deanna Lencioni and Kyleen Takas; and several nieces and nephewsIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Timothy "Tim" Van Drei; her sister, Georgann Klingbeil; two brothers, Jerry Thur and Darryl Thur; and her birth father, Nicholas Voik. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula and from 10-11AM Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 1930 West 54th Street, Cleveland, OH 44102. Judith C. Hakundy (80) of Ashtabula passed on Nov. 25 2023 at the Lantern of Saybrook. Born Oct. 4, 1943 in Conneaut she was the daughter of Harley and Dorothy (Crandall) Tisdale. Judith graduated from Ashtabula High School Class of 1962 and retired from Carlisles after many years of service. She was a longtime member of Saybrook United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sisters Lois Powell of Ashtabula and Susan Knighton of Edgewater Fla. 12 nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 47 years Marland Hakundy, sisters Betty Zanzig and Joy Brindley, brother James Tisdale, niece Cathy Tisdale, and nephew John Zanzig. Norma M. "Cookie" (Cinciarelli) Simms, age 82, of Richland Township, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born on August 14, 1941 and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Angeline (Bucci) Cinciarelli. Norma was known for being an amazing cook. Known as "Grandma Cookie", she loved to be surrounded by her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a volunteer for her church and was a member of the church choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and was an avid gardener. Norma was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Steve) Ball; sons, Daniel (Jesil) Simms and Donald (Susan) Simms; step sons, Douglas Simms, Marshall Simms and Roy (Kim) Simms Jr. ; grandchildren, Jeremy (Becky) Simms, Breanne (Max) Grumet, Rachel Simms, James Simms, Chloey Beramo; great grandson, Damien Galey; sister, Theresa (Estill) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby Margaret Sturgill, 89, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023. Ruby was born on May 1, 1934, in Keokee, Virginia, the daughter of Holma and Lillie (Stidams) Camer. Ruby was a homemaker who took great pride in creating and maintaining a beautiful home for her husband and children. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and keeping up to speed with the world by watching the news whenever she could. She is survived by her grandchildren who affectionately called her "Gram Cracker": Samantha (John) Wilfong, with whom she made her home; Phil (Sierra) Caudell, Kenny Caudell and Sheila Burbridge; her eleven great, grandchildren and her three great, great grandchildren, and her stepson, Keith Sturgill. Saybrook Township- Brenda J. Durey, 62, passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2023 at Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was a beloved wife, mother, and her specialty being meme to her 10 grandkids. Brenda loved horses and the color Red. Her smile would light up any room. Brenda's love for her family and music will carry on through her loved ones. Brenda is survived by her beloved husband, Dale R. Durey; her two sons, Dale (Mamie) Durey II, Wyatt (Brittini) Durey; two daughters, Chyan (Patrick) Durey and Shawne (Tyler) Durey; 10 beautiful grandkids, Alize', Faith, Ayden, Jordan, PJ, Triniti, Aviana, Miyah, Mia and Gianni. She was the oldest of 8 siblings, Arron, Mark, Kristine, Matt, Michael, Lorrieann and Jeremy. She was born on May 21, 1961 in Riverside California to Donald Kirk Heath, whom preceded her in death in 2022 and Karen Ann Heath, whom survives in California. Marvin "John" Paden, 82, passed away on November 12, 2023, at the Country Club Retirement Center in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was born on July 22, 1941, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, the son of Paul T. and Doris (Bechtel) Paden. On November 12, 1961, exactly sixty-two years ago John married the love of his life, Vicki L. Cline; together they created many wonderful memories that will be cherished for many years to come. John was a dedicated employee of Millenium Chemicals as a Chemical Operator for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1998. John proudly served his country from 1959 to 1962 as a member of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing trips in Canada, camping at Pymatuning Lake and meeting once a month for breakfast with his old work buddies. John had fourteen years of RV/Motorhome travel across the country to places such as California, Texas and Florida. He is survived by his beautiful bride, Vicki; his beloved children, Daniel Paden and Janine (Mark Sintic) Paden; his brother, Dennis (Joanne) Paden and his grandchildren: Keith Paden, Samantha Baker, Danielle (Jeremy) Kirsch, Tyler Paden, Cari (Nick Mann) Getz and Kaylee (Logan) Hurst. Laura L. ThompsonDORSET - Laura Louise Thompson, 63, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at Hillcrest Hospital. She was born July 3, 1960 in Cleveland, the daughter of Joe Lee and Rosemary (Jones) Chappell and had been an Ashtabula resident most of her life. Laura was a dedicated employee who had worked as an administrative secretary for the Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners in both the Commissioners Office and the Building Department. She passed tragically following a brief illness as she was just preparing to plan her retirement after many years of service to county government. Laura was proud of her Appalachian roots and was devoted to the simple things in life - family, God, and country. She enjoyed gardening and nature and loved to dance in her younger years. Music always made her smile and she often listened to Elvis, 50's DooWop, and old country favorites like Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. Always one with a soft spot for animals, she loved anything furry, especially her lab mix, Cocoa. Her survivors include three children, Amber (Brandon) Thompson-McFall of Fort Stockton, TX, Michael (Lauren) Thompson, Jr. of Dorset, and Gregory Sili of King Bay, GA; two grandchildren, Kenneth Heinbaugh and Hannah Orrenmaa; her father, Joe Lee Chappell of Dorset; two brothers, Austin (Julie) Chappell of Painesville and Treston (Jennifer) Chappell of Savannah, MO; one sister, Samantha Chappell of Ravenna; and several nieces and nephews. Todd A. Keating OLMSTED TOWNSHIP - Todd Anthony Keating, 60, passed away on Nov. 7, 2023, at Fairview Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 25, 1963, the son of Francis and Janice (Kolenz) Keating. Todd graduated from Padua High School in 1981. Shortly after graduation Todd began a 40-year career working for the Cleveland Elevator Construction Union - Local 17. He was always known as a hard worker and a man that would go above and beyond in everything he did in life; whether it be his work for the union, helping a friend in need, or hosting one of his many well planned parties. He loved the outdoors and being one with nature; as well as being the lover of music. At parties he was known to be one of the greatest "leg guitar" players of all time as his family and friends would say with a laugh. He may have loved and enjoyed many things in life but there was no greater love in his life than the love he had for his three boys and his family. He is survived by his loving family: his father Francis Keating; his three sons: Steven (Nichole) Keating, Tom (his fiancee Brittany) Keating, and Ryan (his fiancee Kayla); his grandchildren Sylvia and Liam; his sister Teri (Michael) Kleinhenz; his loving companion Christine Maclean; his niece Mackenzie Keating and nephew Timothy Keating Jr. ; and his former wife and dear friend Sharon Kelley-Keating. Helen Marie Jerauld, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Villa at the Lake. She was born January 1, 1925, in Ashtabula, the daughter of the late Edward and Blanche (Bartholemew) Carey. A lifelong area resident, Helen married the love of her life Harry Jerauld on January 15, 1944. Helen worked for many years at the AAA in Ashtabula. She loved taking trips to the family cabin in Pennsylvania that her father built. She and Harry would spend many summers there enjoying the peace and quiet and the beauty of nature around them. A retreat that the family still enjoys today. Helen was extremely crafty; she could make something out of nothing. Helen and Harry loved to travel the world to see new things and visit family members. After Harry's passing, she continued her love of traveling with her friend Vern. Helen is survived by her children, Charles Jerauld, Barbara Tryon, William "Bud" (Bonnie) Jerauld, Lana (Bill) Shugars, Gary (Brenda) Jerauld, and Kimberly (John) Zimmerman; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1996; her daughter, Karen Lauer; companion Vern Riehl; siblings, Catherine French, Alice Parrish, Alfred "Buster" Carey, and Frank "Duane" Carey; and her parents. Berchard M. Warring, 89, passed away on October 27, 2023, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was born on December 22, 1933 in Harpersfield, Ohio, the son of John and Jessie (Henderson) Warring. After being employed at Reliance Electric, Berch was self-employed as a real estate broker, past president of Board of Realtors, owner and property manager, licensed life insurance agent, car wash owner, and business manager at Gateway Church. He was Sunday School superintendent at Peoples Church, served on the Ashtabula County Planning Commission and Geneva Civil Service Commission. On September 14, 1957, Berchard married Mary Jane Lienhard, sharing 66 loving years together. He is survived by his adoring wife, Mary Jane, children: Brian (Patricia) and Bruce (Debbie); his grandchildren: Sean (Fabiana) Warring, John (Ashley) Warring, Christopher (Fernanda) Warring, Evangeline (Josh) Crowell, Stephanie (Ryan) Coram and Brent Warring; his great grandchildren: Abbott, Jacob, and Paxton; Brother-in-law, Robert (Tina) Lienhard and sister-in-law, Carol Ann Erickson. Juana Fernandez, 83, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on October 30th, 2023. She resided in Ashtabula, Ohio for 8 years, formerly of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico to Emilio Fernandez and Cipriana Calderon, Juana was a seamstress and aide, and worked for Don Schantz Nursery in the lettuce department for many years. She was a loving mother, good cook, and a very caring person. She enjoyed time with the family and was loved by everyone. She is survived by three children: Sonia Nieves (Ruben Salgado) and Victor Figueroa of Ashtabula and Carmen Figueroa of Allentown; Four siblings: Pedro Fernandez of New Jersey, Ismael Fernandez and Carmen Fernandez, both of Pennsylvania, and Cruz Fernandez of Puerto Rico. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, many "GREAT" grandchildren, and her beloved pet companion Nala. Juana is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Gonzalez, children Carmen Rosado and Julio Rosado, and sisters Francisca Fernandez and Maria Rivera.
